This is a sub-page of Street Fighter V.

Hmmm...
To do:

There have been lots of updates to Street Fighter V, and lots of changes for every released version of the game.

Expansion Differences

The game had received two updated versions; the Arcade Edition, and the recently released Champion Edition. There are also a few changes made to reflect these versions of the game.

PlayStation 4 Menu Changes

Game Icon

Base Game / Arcade Edition Champion Edition
This first icon looks alright, but it's perfect for the original version of the game. A more better icon for the Champion Edition version.

The game's icon on the PlayStation 4's menu was changed to reflect the cover artwork for each version of the game released. Both the Base game and Arcade Edition versions use the original cover art for the Base game (which depicts Ryu on a white backdrop), while Champion Edition uses the cover artwork for that version (which features Ryu, Chun-Li, and Gill).

Online Menu Image

Base Game Arcade Edition Champion Edition
"Now the fight's begun!" A much different background with Ryu for the Arcade Edition here. This background with Gill is perfect for the Champion Edition.

The PlayStation 4 menu background for the game's online features depends for all three updated versions of the game. The Base game's background image depicts Ryu using his Denjin Renki V-Trigger I at the Bustling Side Street stage, the Arcade Edition uses a different image of Ryu, and the Champion Edition uses Gill's promotional character art.

Startup Image

Base Game / Arcade Edition Champion Edition
The base game's startup background is just like the icon, but much larger. For the Champion Edition, it's own cover artwork was used.

Each updated version of the game has their own startup image for them on the PlayStation 4's menu after you select the game's icon. The Base game and Arcade Edition use the original cover art for the Base game, while Champion Edition uses the cover artwork for that version.

Opening Movie

Base Game Arcade Edition
The base game uses a shorter movie. Did you know that there was also an extended version of this? The Arcade Edition goes for something more real, cinematic, and different.

Two CGI opening movies were made, and depending on the version of the game you have, the respective version's opening movie will play when you start playing for the first time with a new save file (there is no opening movie for the Champion Edition of the game).

The original version uses the opening movie for the base game, and the Arcade Edition uses it's own new one for it. Both of these movies are included in the Arcade and Champion Edition's Gallery in the Main Menu.

Menu Changes

Title Screen

The logo on the title screen and the background varies between all three updated versions of the game. The Base game uses a white background with a drop-shadowed border, the Arcade Edition uses a light gold backdrop, and the Champion Edition uses a red and blue colored backdrop.

Main Menu

The Main Menu background colors were blue and black in the original version. For the Arcade and Champion Editions of the game, it's colors were changed to gold/yellow and white. The thumbnails for each selected mode were also changed between versions. Additional modes of play were added for the Arcade and Champion Edition versions.

Character Select

The Character Select screen originally had used a background of the Earth in the base game. Both the Arcade and Champion Editions change this to a more detailed golden stadium. The number of characters were originally sixteen in the base game, but this number was constantly increased as more DLC characters were added to accommodate for extra fighters until all of Season 5's characters were released.

HUD Changes

During Gameplay

Another difference between versions is the HUD that appears during gameplay. The base game originally had a blue and black colored HUD, and for both the Arcade and Champion Edition versions, the HUD has gotten gold plating, the Critical Art and V-Trigger meters have been changed and text has black borders. All characters now have second V-Triggers, referred as "V-Trigger II", and a second V-Skill (referred as "V-Skill II") that are both selectable on the Character Select screen.

Loading and Saving Icons

The loading and saving icons were also changed between versions too.

Graphical Changes

Base Game Arcade/Champion Edition
Looks more like a clay-ifyed visual filter, don't you think? More realistic, more better.

As Street Fighter V was made using Unreal Engine 4, all of the game's 3D stages, effects, and character models originally looked more like clay in the base version of the game. In response of this, the Arcade and Champion Editions had given the 3D models some complete re-vising to make their textures look more realistic, and even the lighting much better than the original versions.
