Super Donkey Kong '99 is a bootleg attempt at porting Donkey Kong Country to the Genesis, built solely to grab a quick-n-nasty buck at Chinese markets.

It's as good as it sounds.

Classic example of stock art getting reused. Shouldn't you be bigger, Mr. King?
  • The title screen was changed, deciding that Donkey Kong's original inspiration should take over the coveted spot of having the game named after him.
  • A little animation to the pause screen was added.

It doesn't get any better than this, folks!

  • When beating the original revision of the game, the ending just shows a screen with Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong (who doesn't appear elsewhere in the game) statically staring at each other in a black void. In the ROM, there are some unused graphics for a conversation that was intended for this ending, transcribed as follows:
WOW!!.... IT'S ALL OVER NOW!
AND WHAT SHOULD WE DO NOW DONKEY?
OH..... LET ME THINK
OH! YA!
WHAT!? DONKEY
SEE YOU AGAIN!!
SEE YOU!

Super King Kong '99 fixes the ending so said graphics display properly and additionally animates the characters.
