What happens when your contracted sound team is busy screwing up another game's soundtrack and has little time left to do anything for this game. Rather amusingly, both games were released on the same day, and share the same sound staff. And yes, that means it does include the awful instrumentation.
Fortunately, a semi-port of this game ended up on the Famicom just under a month later, changing gameplay elements and fixing up the music.
Hidden Menu
At the Irem logo screen, quickly press A 10 times. Then at the character select, hold A+B and press Start for a hidden menu containing a sound test and level select.
