Crash Debugger

Is there a way on emulators to force crash the game and then put the codes in to put up the debugger? Chaossy - The Computer Geek 12:29, 3 October 2012 (EDT)

You have it in the article! Use Action Replay codes to spawn seeds and drop them until you freeze the game. Enter the code, and voilà! Montas1992 12:37, 3 October 2012 (EDT)

Items

The "Other Items" section really needs some elaboration, because right now it's lacking.

  • Do the Paint Can or Sold Out Sign have proper names when held in the inventory? Can they be placed anywhere? Because if not, these are likely just a result of them being items for the sake of Tom Nook's store.
  • What's the difference between the Beehive and Honey Comb? Do they have item names, and can they be placed? Otherwise, it's probably them just being treated as items.
  • Cardboard Boxes: Do they have names? Otherwise, this is probably not worth mentioning, since neighbors clearly use them when moving.
  • Four Leaf Clover: Is this different from the normal Four-Leaf Clover in the game? If so, how?
  • Are Big Rug1 and Big Rug2 just copies of Exotic Wall/Rug? How are they related to the catalog?
  • Invisible Chairs: names?
  • More info on the unused Nook Store wallpaper/flooring sets would be nice.
  • Are there any IDs to go with these items? They would be handy to have.

--Peardian 00:43, 4 October 2012 (EDT)

I seem to remember the invisible chair and quite a few of the items actually being called something around the lines of "Not used" --Oaa 09:11, 10 August 2013 (EDT)

Unused Graphics

I found this while poking around the Title Screen in DeSmuME. Are these graphics used anywhere? I haven't seen them before. (Outside of the place of interest has been darkened.) I would assume they aren't used since "message" is misspelled as "messeage". Animal Crossing TCRF.png --Supershadow64ds 18:32, 14 March 2013 (EDT)

Animal Crossing: New Leaf Beehive

The concept of the Beehive ended up being used in New Leaf. Is this worth adding?

Robotortoise 03:40, 1 July 2013 (EDT)

Yes. --Hiccup (talk) 05:07, 11 October 2013 (EDT)
Allright. Robotortoise (talk) 05:23, 11 October 2013 (EDT)

City Folk

Why is there no City Folk page? Is there REALLY no unused content in a game as big as City Folk?! Also, I feel like the "banned" words list is located in a text file in the game. I really want to see that for some reason. Not unused, I just wanna see it.Robotortoise (talk) 04:59, 11 October 2013 (EDT)

I found a few unused graphics. I haven't played the game in a really long time, so I don't really know what's used and what isn't. --Lemurboy12 (talk) 10:30, 11 October 2013 (EDT)
I'd say that's a good enough excuse to start a page. Robotortoise (talk) 14:03, 11 October 2013 (EDT)
If you're not sure what is and is not used, please post your findings on Jul so we can examine them before you start a page. --BMF54123 (talk) 14:12, 11 October 2013 (EDT)
Banned words are added now... 8 years later :P Ewkurt (talk) 00:15, 09 March 2021 (EDT)

Possible Kiosk demo

Whilst carousing emuparadise for the game, I happened upon several downloads labelled as kiosk demos. I'll add more once I download them. SkytheAvian (talk) 02:26, 11 April 2015 (EDT)

There are 3: An European kiosk demo, an European Wi-Fi kiosk "Broadcast Version" and a US Wi-Fi kiosk "Relay Station". The latter two would probably contain a demo rom, much like the Download Stations. -Einstein95 (talk) 02:29, 11 April 2015 (EDT)
I was only able to find the European Broadcast and regular kiosk demos. I just pray someone else won't beat me to the punch of adding the prerelease section.. heh. SkytheAvian (talk) 02:33, 11 April 2015 (EDT)
I did a quick search on Youtube. Is this what you mean? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--On8lGjIYI SodaDog (talk) 12:53, 11 April 2015 (EDT)

Seems like a lot of it got removed by the time the game reached Europe. The Japanese version mentions the emotion playback script too, so this might be part of a test menu/map. Bluesun (talk) 07:39, 10 August 2016 (EDT)

Kanji... or, er, cursive?

In the Japanese version, when an animal asks you your birthday near the start of the game, they also ask you whether you want to play the game using kanji or kana. The text for the questions in four personalities still exists in the European version, in... various states of completeness and localisation. The phone by the bed also asked about your reading preference.

Hey, []! Listen, I've been thinking... Cursive is kinda awesome, isn't it? Not only is it pretty, but it's also a sign that you're cool and grown-up... Are you already grown up, []? Or are you still a kid?

  • Grown up!
  • Kid!

Neat! So, I bet you write in cursive all the time, huh!

  • Uh, I guess.
  • No, I was lying.

Um... So, you don't write in cursive?

  • Nope, I don't!
  • YES I DO!

That makes sense. I mean, I look like a grown-up, but I don't use cursive, either. ...No! It's true! I get mistaken for a grown-up all the time! Hah... Hah... HAH-CHOOO! []!

OK. OK. Then I'm gonna try hard to write in cursive, too! Lemme tell you, it's a lot harder when you don't have opposable thumbs!

I have nice penmanship, but what do YOU think of girls with nice handwriting?

  • It's cool!
  • Intimidating!

Oh, yeah? I feel exactly the same way. There are so many people who just scribble that I thought it was trendy!

  • No way!
  • Messy is in!

You think good handwriting is out? That it's better to be incomprehensible?

  • I guess so.
  • No, no.

Oh... I see, []. I'm never writing clearly again! NEVER! I have to stay on top of the latest trends if I want to maintain my image!

Just between you and me, I spent most of school in detention. So my handwriting isn't all that hot!

  • You're doomed!
  • Don't sweat it.

Huh... Using Kanji to bluff your way out maybe something a man must do

  • That's right!
  • No, Hiragana is enough

Oh...Is that so? You would accept me as who I am? []? Then, from now on, I'll talk using only Hiragana! []!

  • That's OK!
  • No, use Kanji!

I see... Well then, you better prepare yourself, []! No excuses, []!

Yo, []! Are you into penmanship and all that?

  • It's cool.
  • You kidding?

Oh, really? Then I'm gonna have to learn how to write pretty letters and stuff? But I hate it! I always get too fired up and just start scribbling, []!

  • I hear ya!
  • It's easy!

Right on, I wasn't sure what I'd do if you were super psyched about penmanship. We even think alike, []!

  • Totally!
  • Not at all!

And how would like text to display in town? Do you mind if messages are written in Kanji? Or would you prefer we write in Hiragana for you?

  • Kanji is fine.
  • Hiragana, please.

Very good, then. From now on, we will display text in Kanji.

I understand. In that case, we'll display all text in Hiragana.

Unused?

Can anybody confirm if these are unused?

Ewkurt 00:21, 9 March 2021 (EDT)

The first one is used in Tag Mode where you meet Rover (a little bit of it can be seen here). I don't recognize the second one and it doesn't match that of any building in the game that I can find, so it may be unused. ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 01:21, 6 May 2021 (UTC)
Update: the second texture is used in the fossil exhibit of the museum, as seen here. ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 00:24, 20 May 2021 (UTC)

Unused Episode?

There are several events over the year called episodes in which the player can talk to special characters like Pelly, Blathers or Tom Nook over a month to learn more about their past (e.g. January Blues with Sable talking about Tom Nook). In the internet I was only able to find 19 of these special events listed on multiple sites but when I watched the memory of the game I found out that the memory which saves in what event the player currently is goes from Hex 00 to 13 which would be 20 events in total. The memory which tells the current event sadly can't be used to find out who or what is needed to trigger the missing episode, but maybe someone wants to investigate it further. Here is a list of known episodes. --SporyTike (talk) 14:58, 24 March 2021 (UTC)

Previously Undocumented Dummy Texture?

AnimalCrossingWildWorld-Lt myD.png Found this texture when I was messing around in Tinke one day. I didn't see it anywhere else, so I thought I'd put it here. Found with the exterior lighting textures for the non-resident buildings. Appears to be in reference to the mascot of Fujiya Co. Ltd., Peko-chan. --PianoThatShootsLasers (talk) 23:15, 19 May 2021 (UTC)

What is this item called?

So I know that Egbert places this fossil in his house.

House of Egbert WW.png

I found a save file with just the table without any fossil on it. The item is labeled as "not used". What is it called?

Museum prop.png
I think standalone fossils displayed in houses have that display table included as part of their model in older games like WW, so that would mean that standalone table is a distinct unused item that isn't actually in Egbert's house... --Zyxyz (talk) 11:01, 18 June 2021 (UTC)
Do you think you could upload the save file so we can find out the hex for the unused item? If you're able to find the hex yourself though, that works too.--PianoThatShootsLasers (talk) 19:01, 19 June 2021 (UTC)

Hide-and-seek event text files in Animal Crossing Wild World

These text files are located in a folder "q09" for each personality of villagers (folders "bo", "fu", "ge", "ha", "ko", "ta"). The developers were probably planning the hide-and-seek between the player and the villager. The texts of hide-and-seek have not been translated into European languages.

Interestingly that some of the files in the location "message/ha/q09" are empty (badend_.bmg. end_.bmg. explain_.bmg.), although in the Japanese version they contain text.
