Unused Boss

Hello ! I've been on my 4th playthrough of this game recently, and I this time decided I'd try to make a 100% run.

SMALL SPOILER ALERT However in the labyrinth in the Myria station, just before Myria, where you can fight all the former bosses of the game that you already defeated (renamed "Sample XX"), one of them, Sample 4, appears only here, and looks like a dodo bird. I've been researching this boss on the internet, that fans usually call "Dodo" and consider that he was supposed to be in a part of the game that was removed. Does anybody know how to hack the game to find if this Dodo actually has its own data or if he only appears as "Sample 4", and if it can be hacked as a regular foe, and if its real name is Dodo ?

Is this Dodo bird worth mentioning on this wiki page ? Video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxIhnc3jso8 BoF wiki : http://bof.wikia.com/wiki/Sample_4

Unused Abilities

BOF3-NotingText: "素人女子高生" A bit of odd text - "女子高生" (joshikousei) is one way of saying "female high-school student," but "素人" (shirouto) means "amateur," I believe. So, it basically translates to "amateur female high-school student." The lines could be random joke lines/insults left in from the developers, and not removed/translated/edited. The text in BOF3-NotingGarbage, for example, looks suspiciously like one or more smilies, possibly some more text or maybe a reference, in between two musical notes.

I take it the abilities produce a different 'message' each time? --Aoi 21:42, 13 October 2010 (EDT)

Actually, it seems to be just those two lines. In fact, while I'd played around with those skills before, I only saw the Japanese text string once, while I was taking screenshots of the abilities, so it may be a rare fluke or something; every other time, it was that string of nonsense characters. Either way, it popped up once, and I managed to get a screenshot of it... -YK YK-sig.png 22:35, 13 October 2010 (EDT)
Hmm... If I can find my GameShark, I'll have to run some experiments. (I can't remember if the PSX GS had any problems with being used on the PS2, though.) As for the quotes... having no closing quote on dialog is supposedly valid. I still don't care much for it, at any rate...even if it is used fairly often for dialog in Japanese, in games.) --Aoi 05:07, 15 October 2010 (EDT)

Unused text

The text "Hahahahahahaha You're finished! You're nothing without flame or frost to back you up!" is actually used, but it's very obscure. It appears if you talk to the Tarman on Mt. Myrneg without any flame or frost skills, but since it's easy to learn Burn from Mage Goos or Frost from Mygas before reaching that point, most people won't see this text without actively trying to. --Kahran042 00:14, 23 April 2013 (EDT)

Unused Song 4

Totally used in the game. It can be heard during the alternate ending if you decide to give up your powers as you can see here: https://youtu.be/jega-hsGZf4?t=26 Poki3 (talk) 15:40, 7 April 2016 (EDT)

I wanted to also mention that this song is used in the game, and is called "Bad Ending" on the official soundtrack. This "Unused Song 4" should be removed from the page. Another video of its usage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FU3UMaRoqqI DragonQuarter (talk)

I took care of it. Dunno why it took 4 years for someone to get around to it, though. Reaper man (talk) 17:49, 30 December 2020 (UTC)

Version difference

This page says that "[the barn bulb's] item drop is special. In some versions, it's Ginseng, which has the same effect as Steroids, and in others it's the Vodka Shot, which has the exact same effect. These items don't exist together in any version, and no one seems to know why they switched it. It's never consistent between versions." I'm not sure what versions are being referred to though? --RavenWorks (talk) 04:01, 11 June 2020 (UTC)

There are a few known revisions of this game floating around. I do plan on documenting the 3 that I have. There's a lot to go over between the Vodka shot and Ginseng versions, mainly localization fixes. Reaper man (talk) 17:51, 30 December 2020 (UTC)
