XMA files

Anyone out there who knows the basics about XMA files? It's just that I read somewhere that these play using the Xbox' hardware, and... Well, the music in the GameCube version is in XMA format. Could that mean anything? {EspyoT} 11:01, 13 September 2012 (EDT)

The game was also released on the Xbox, so I wouldn't be surprised if they just ported the audio libraries to the Gamecube somehow! Anyway, I've been screwing around with an Xbox game lately, and I found that Psychonauts Explorer let me open the music and audio files for The Punisher on the platform (PS2 and PC use different music formats.) Give it a shot, it might just work! Oh, and if it turns out the pack contains unplayable WAV files, that might mean the WAVs are encoded using the Xbox ADPCM codec - so install this to be able to play them on a media player. :) // Foxhack 11:08, 13 September 2012 (EDT)
Sweet! I had used Psychonauts Explorer in the past (that's how I found this pic), but I tried it and couldn't get it to work. Let me guess, the files for The Punisher are in .XWB format, right? Because that's the only thing Psychonauts Explorer can open... It can't open XMA files directly AFAICT. {EspyoT} 12:12, 13 September 2012 (EDT)
Crap, you're absolutely right. I confused the file formats. Sorry to get your hopes up. :( // Foxhack 12:27, 13 September 2012 (EDT)
Darn. Oh well, people are gonna be able to crack the XMA file format some day, right? What's that? They've been trying forever now? Uh... well, the OST is available online so... {EspyoT} 07:31, 14 September 2012 (EDT)
