If anyone can verify the information here, please do so. I think there is also a drop item that fails to appear in localized versions, and thus seals out an entire section in a bonus dungeon.

Actually i can confirm this information, i've tried the code on PCSX2 and it works.
Then i ported myself the code for the EU version of the game and i've tested on a real PS2 using Codebreaker 9.2 as cheat device and also in that case it worked flawlessly.

Press R1+R2+L1+L2+Start+Select and watch what happens! Another menu will pop up. It has many options, including a game save editor, the ability to change the language of the game to Japanese, and some thing called "save converter".
The only problem is that if you try to exit the menu, change values to (null), or press the wrong things, the game will crash.

I noticed if you change the games language to Japanese (in the R1+R2+L1+L2+Start+Select menu) and then go to the title screen (by pressing circle when the option "title" is selected), I think there is an option to install the game to the PS2's HDD!
Almost every diffrent menu/ Screen has another Debug menu ..
the above code will alow u to get everything .. Items, Pics . inventions . NPC and anything u can think of u just need to play around with it .. 
Example on the Map screen where you have the save section u have like 20 settings to pick from 
in the items menu u can add any item u want .. . in the character select screen u can activate ppl .. 
in the monster select screen u can give the monsters max stats . 
Seems O is to activate alot of the stuff like set everything to 99
I did a tiny check of 2 things in Japanese with the program JWPce.exe. When you press TRIANGLE to go to the menu and activate debug mode there is something in Japanese, I think it translated into something like "No options". Also while you are in the dungeons something is in Japanese that had either TRIANGLE or O to activate, I forgot it but it was something like "Information". The few things in Japanese probably aren't anything you will miss out on if you don't know what it says.


There were a few things that stopped the game for me too.
1. Wrong color number for a fish in the aquarium will freeze the game if you return to the aquarium.
2. Wrong "Parameter" number while moving around in town will freeze the game. Parameter 1 makes you equip your fishing pole as if you are going to fish somewhere.
3. I did something dumb with a debug option while playing spheda and the game froze. I don't remember what I changed.


1 of the options you change while in town allows you to fly upward if you hold O. It had choices 0, 1, and 2. 0 was default, 1 and 2 make you float.


1 of the options while in the dungeon allows you to run fast while holding L2 (or maybe it was L1?). You could set the number very high, but you never seem to run any faster.
A lot of things can be increased/decreased faster by pressing L2/R2 or L1/R1.
I was surprised that I could go to the map and press a button to get all of the locations on the map at the same time. I couldn't figure out how to do that correctly, I just ended up clearing and unclearing some events to make some areas appear on the map. A few areas couldn't be on the map at the same time either. Debug mode gets every area on the map at the same time.
In this games Japanese release, it had the option to install about 1.5GB of data to an official PS2 Hard Drive so that the game can load faster. This feature was removed from the USA release of the game.
The reason that I think that option on the menu is to install the game to the hard drive, is becuase my PS2 happens to have an official HDD (the one that came with FFXI). On my real PS2, the option is selectable, but the gets a BSOD after selecting it. But when I use a PS2 emulator that does not have a Dev9 plugin, the option is not selectable from the menu and is greyed out.
SO, my theory is that if there is some way to activate the Dev9 functions in the game, MAYBE it could be possible to install the game. The dev9.irx file is already on the game's disk. Because you know how when your PS2 has a network adapter and you put in a game the supports network functions or harddrives, the fans on the PS2 go faster. This game does not make the fans go faster, so I guess that means that the Dev9 module wasn't loaded (I think?)

Unused Scoops/Invention Ideas

Going through the files "neta.lst" and "neta2.lst" Which appear to be either the demo or an early beta version of the photo list, and the final list respectively, here are the differences I've noticed:

neta: PIC_NAME 115,"アーム";, translates roughly to "arm", replaced in neta2 with PIC_NAME 115,"作業クレーン",1003;, which is Work Crane in the final game

neta: PIC_NAME 169,"発電小屋";, translates roughly to "power shed", Removed from neta2

neta: PIC_NAME 221,"ポリーズブレッド看板";, translates to "police bread signs", replaced in neta2 with PIC_NAME 221,"ポリーズベーカリー看板",2910;, which is Polly's Bakery Sign in the final game

neta: Is missing 249 and 250, which are Mr. Big Shot Shadow and Zelmite Found in the final game (More on that first one in a bit)

The most notable of these are 169, 1025, and 30000 in neta, and 249 in neta2.


Mr. Big Shot Shadow is a completely unused Idea in the final game, and is not found in any maps. One thing I would like someone to do is replace something in an existing map with the scoop and see what happens. There is also a missing Scoop that only appears in Barga's Valley before you restore Lao Chao's Bistro that's located where Monica stands in the Spheda Tutorial, and is removed once you restore it. Taking a photo of it, it has no name, and just uses the name of the location, like you're taking a photo of nothing. Saving it to your Idea Book does claim that you saved it, and it can't be saved twice, but does not appear in the idea book.


If anyone wants to compile this properly into a section that'd be great.
