Suggestion and info to merge this and the Windows page.

Should the pages of the N64 and Windows versions be merged into one, like for example the SpongeBob BFBB page showing the GameCube, PS2 and XBox versions?
It's the same game with the usual differences like downgrades, music, and more. The Dreamcast version is also the same, which could be added to this page as well.
All three versions have the same unused content and their own unused content.

Beyond that, there are some interesting differences between the three versions that I think are worth documenting, like slightly different decorated HUBs, different cutscene sequences and more.

There are quite many differences in the melodies between N64 and Windows/Dreamcast as well, that indicate that the downgraded songs are possibly based on earlier versions. It also has some unique songs. The differences are best heard when the N64 songs are fixed (correct sample rates, reactivated instruments that were mistakenly muted or just too quiet, etc.). This would not only explain the differences but also show the unused midi channels of the N64 version.

Here are three examples. Some more examples can also be found at the main page (e.g. Creepy Corridor):

Forest Edge

Windows/Dreamcast Nintendo 64 (fixed) Nintendo 64
Original Song here (YT Link)

Version Differences

In the N64 version are flutes in the background which don't exist in the Windows/Dreamcast version and the third segment (starting arround 0:53) of the song is completely different. It was also slightly slower.

N64 Midi Errors

  • Flutes are barely audible in the first segment and completely silent in the rest of the song
  • Background organ is not audible

Bear Path

Windows/Dreamcast Nintendo 64 (fixed) Nintendo 64
Original Song here (YT Link)

Version Differences

The N64 version seems to be based on an earlier version as the melody in the first segment of the song is quite different and in the place of the clarinet are piano notes with different melodies. The song is also slightly slower.

N64 Midi Errors

  • Violin instrument's notes are set too quiet and are also set way too short (3 frames per note), which is an error unique to this song
  • Piano instruments are too quiet
  • Background organ is not audible
  • Another background instrument is played at the wrong sample rate.

First Avenue

Windows/Dreamcast Nintendo 64 (fixed) Nintendo 64

Version Differences

Many of the extra guitar interludes don't exist in the N64 version and at 0:54 a different crash sound can be heard, which can also be heard in the Windows proto.
