Pseudo-hires? What?
In the description of the stretched looking Nintendo logo, it says something about "pseudo-hires". What does that mean? I tried searching Google about it, but I could never find a website that actually shows what it means. Could someone give me an explanation? --Joe411 (talk) 16:47, 8 March 2014 (EST)
- Most of the SNES's graphics modes allow for this mode to be enabled, which basically allows for twice as much horizontal resolution (effectively 512x224 in most cases). Some Japanese RPGs use it to be able to fit more text on the screen while keeping the font big enough to be legible, for example. (There is also a "real" hi-res interlaced mode which provides resolutions of 512x448 or 512x478, but it only works with two out of eight total screen modes and is a lot less versatile, and was rarely used.) --Devin (talk) 16:55, 8 March 2014 (EST)
