PlayStation Reference

I'm not disputing the fact that he gets angry, I'm looking for proof that the game specifically checks for the term PLAYSTATION, which neither that article nor its source (IGN) seem to offer. The game's voice recognition isn't exactly state of the art, so it's possible that the game gets "confused" and thinks you said something else. It happens. Sorry if I seem overly skeptical, I've just seen one too many claims of "lol company rivalry!!" that ultimately turned out to be false. --BMF54123 17:37, 20 August 2012 (EDT)

Ok, I did find a word list. I didn't find PlayStation or play-station (- is how the game handles spaces in sentences). However, there was nothing that sounded remotely like playstation. So maybe the developers did put this in as a message, znd hid it in the word list so people wouldn't find it so easily. Pgj1997 22:16, 20 August 2012 (EDT)

On the title screen, whilst Pikachu is walking around, pressing the Z button and talking to Pikachu will make him respond to certain words. On the US version saying "Electric Rat" does make him/her angry (which I seem to remember in either one of the Mangas or Anime it is said and Pikachu electrocutes Ash/Satoshi) (I shall see if I can find it). In the Japanese version "Electric Rat" doesn't seem to work but saying "Praystation" (Japanese L sounds more like an soft R, so you will have more luck getting this to work then saying "Playstation" in English) does seem to work, it could be likely that a Japanese word may work but it is not "Denkinazumi" or "Denkiratto" though. I've been aware of this since the game came out back in the mysts of time and have spent a while looking for what the Japanese word might be, but have come up short. Pokemon not in the game

I found a reference to Fearow in the game's data (DB3C4 in the U.S. ROM (byteswapped, granted =P)), and apparently it isn't in the final game. Also of note is that Venasaur and Dodrio were apparently planned for the game. --From: divingkataetheweirdo 18:18, 20 August 2012 (EDT)

Unused area

In the american version, the byte at address 800ae503 can be used to change the current level, value 01 is the entryway of the house, which as far as I know is not used during normal gameplay. Jhameleon 18:49, 20 August 2012 (EDT)

Actually it's used for the end cutscene. You walk to your house and remember all the good times you had with Pikachu right on your front lawn. Before you enter the house, Pikachu uses thunderbolt on you, and you fall to the ground. You wake up, and see that Pikachu has come back! So now we can conclude: [1]. I guess it's understandable that you didn't know that, seeing how you probably turned off the N64 after the end credits. Pgj1997 11:16, 26 August 2012 (EDT)

Emulation No-Go

This game can be emulated, sure, I've got it running, but for obvious reasons you can't really get past the first task you're given. I was hoping to get the Japanese version soon and list all of the version differences, but the only way I'll be able to get pictures is from a digital camera. Even if I dumped the ROM to play and screen-capture from my computer emulation, the same issues arise. As long as the pictures are in .png, will this be okay until the microphone feature is emulated (which could take a very long time since only two N64 games use it)? Or rather, does someone know how I could emulate the feature?--Spiritix 05:41, 10 November 2012 (EST)

I would rather not have digital camera shots of a TV screen on the wiki, sorry. Captures from a high-quality video capture card would be acceptable until the microphone is properly emulated. --BMF54123 21:40, 10 November 2012 (EST)

Alright, I'll figure out how I can capture video. Does it have to be HD? I mean, if my initial results are absolutely horrible in quality, then I won't upload them, but can we get by with fairly decent? Phrase oddities

Looking at this pastebin document of all the phrases in game, there's a few oddities. Specifically, there's phrases with numbers after them. Not sure how you'd pronounce them, but if someone could get the results, that would be great. My guess is that maybe each one is to test different animations? Crash Debug Information

Map Warp Codes

I documented the map warp codes for both versions of the game if anyone wants to use them. (Link)

Japanese Text in US ROM

At the address 0xDD14E7 there is what appears to me to be Japanese text, perhaps for buttons. I've been unable to find a codec/tool I can use to get a clean rip of these graphics. This is the output I get from Texture64 using the I8 codec. --Grandta13 (talk) 21:31, 26 February 2019 (EST)

Is "ROBOCOM" early Custom Robo title?

The sentence "depicting a game called Robocom, most likely an early name for Custom Robo" in the N64 cartridge graphics in the Regional Differences, I have never hear that title.
