Secret Words for mirrors ?

The mirrors in the villages can travel to other areas of the game, village or islands for example. In 2001, with the help of a hex editor, I looked at the file "MM3.EXE" of the French version and saw texts like "It's a secret" in French, but also the words writing on the mirrors. Some are known, but I have doubts about the others... The problem is that the file "MM3.EXE" US version show no text and I can not see these words.

HOME - (MAISON)
SEADOG - (LOUP DE MER)
FREEMAN - (HOMME LIBRE)
DOOMED - (CONDAMNER)
REDHOT - (BRULANT)
ARENA - (ARENES)
??? - (MISE A FEU)
EARTH - (TERRE)
AIR - (AIR)
WATER - (EAU) Strangely not present...
FIRE - (FEU) Strangely not present...
??? - (MAITRE UNTEL)
??? - (MAITRE DE L'ORBE)

The words I have my doubts are: MISE A FEU, MAITRE UNTEL, MAITRE DE L'ORBE. They lead to areas with very secret and also at the end of the game

I'm no expert in French, but according to Google, "Mise a Feu" means "Start a Fire", "Maitre Untel" means "Master Doe", and "Maitre de L'orbe" means "Master of Orbe". --Horton Hears a Who... also knows as Jay "The Brain" Mann 07:52, 31 January 2012 (EST)
I just tested, there is no effect. It should certainly write something else.

The last two in the English version are "DOE MEISTER" (doe = "dough", as in money) and "ORB MEISTER", respectively. The other one (for the ending) is "BLASTOFF". --Devin 15:32, 31 January 2012 (EST)
I have a question... Do these words are visible in the game? In the French version, the words "MAITRE UNTEL" and "MASTER DE L'ORBE" are mentioned nowhere in the game.

I don't think so. They're basically cheat codes. --Devin 08:46, 1 February 2012 (EST)
Now, I can say that these words are known in the US version. I had many doubts since the words were not cited in my version.
Otherwise, I wonder whether there is not a word to access the map "It's a secret". It's still surprising that this map is also present in the SNES version.

Hirelings and Their Character Slots

So, while fiddling around with a save game, I noticed something interesting… Apparently, if you force a normal party member (characters 01 to 20) into the last two slots of your party, they work just like you'd expect, completely without glitches and, more importantly, without hireling fees! This is usually impossible, as the game normally allows only six party members, but I find it interesting that the game doesn't reject the idea of having two extra party members who aren't costing you gold.

I also found out that if you delete the Hireling characters (characters 21 to 30) through a hex editor, the game actually does remove them from the Inns… but, you also can't use their portraits for custom characters. Those last ten slots are hard-coded into the game to always be Hirelings.

I don't know if this is interesting enough to mention on the main page, since it requires hacking the game to make happen, but I figured it was interesting enough to mention, here!
