Various Leftovers and Rumors

Forum Link Apparently, there was supposed to be a Druid Class which was cut before the game's release due to time constraints. The Druid Circlet of Power (the item which is of no use in the game) was maybe supposed to be a quest item that promoted the Druid Class on completion. It is said, there is evidence for a Druid Class in the game file and there is also supposed to be evidence for "thievery skills" and "blasters", in other words: other unused content, in the game files. Another post says, the mm8 files contain stuff from mm6 which the devs forgot to delete.
A look into he game files could be very worthwhile, but my skills in doing so are limited... --Mugg1991 (talk) 16:54, 8 January 2017 (EST)

Link A map, named Vori, from an earlier Might and Magic game seems to be in the game files.--Mugg1991 (talk) 05:23, 9 January 2017 (EST)
Apparently there are status ailments such as "Drunk" or "Zombie" which may or may not have been in previous M&M games (I don't know). Those two are not in M&M8, that much I can tell you. --Mugg1991 (talk) 16:16, 10 January 2017 (EST)

Stuff pointed out in a Gamefaqs guide

Quoting this page:
Weird/interesting things found in the files:

1) All of the intro to Might and Magic VI.

2) NWC's obsession with calling things "Boob".

3) NWC not knowing how to spell the word "Peasant".

4) Trial notice inside of the game, saying that your game has expired and to call someone at NWC for more details.

5) A listing of what those wells that appear to do nothing actually do - for instance, the one in Dagger Wound gives you 1000 gold as long as you have less than 100 gold on you + in the bank and you have luck above 14.

6) They left in a lot of data regarding Blasters, Stealing, and Unarmed.

7) Discovering that basically three people did almost all the work on MM8.

8) They removed the ".. of Power" enchantment from MM8. No clue why.

9) Random name generator list. There are four times as many male Knight/Cleric names as any other type. They even have random Dragon names, but they're identical to the random Dark Elf/Necro/Vampire names.

10) Might and Magic VIII's data files (which control how the game works) were written in Excel. No joke, they even have references to it.

Unfortunately I do not have the means or knowledge how to extract the game files. I hope someone else does it. --Mugg1991 (talk) 16:09, 10 January 2017 (EST)

Actually I found this tool with a google search. I have skimmed through the files and will be putting up some files shortly. --Mugg1991 (talk) 04:05, 11 January 2017 (EST)

Just pointing out

Just wanted to point out this file M&M8 icons npc2138.png is used for Xanthor, the guy that makes the conflux key for you. So it's not completely unused. --Mugg1991 (talk) 19:37, 15 May 2023 (UTC)

Yeah, I've forgot about it, but I will leave it with mention about Xanthor. Interesting how they swapped content, was it because they didn't have time to test everything right? Now I looked at a Xanthor from cutscene and I think that Elgar Felmoon's portrait is actually Xanthor's portait...Harkuhm (talk) 23:07, 21 May 2023 (UTC)
