Needs a prerelease section
I was initally going to write about how this page mostly doesn't meet the wiki's standards, but that's no longer necessary thanks to the new prerelease idea on this wiki. Unfortunately, that doesn't change the fact that all of the content on this page, with the exception of regional differences, makes no mention of unused content or is covered in the guidelines -- everything is from early development stages and did not make it into the final game. With that said though, is it possible to move this all to a prerelease page? I'm currently unfamiliar with how it works so help would be appreciated. --Legoking831 (talk) 00:53, 22 August 2014 (EDT)
- I'd hold off on moving info to a prerelease page until something that is unused in the game's data is found. Reason being is that, as you said, you'd be left with regional differences on the main page which is kind of weak for a main page. I'm surprised admins haven't just nuked the page because of its current state. If the discovery of one thing that is unused is found in the game's data and added to the main page, then I'd move the current info to a prerelease page. I'd be willing to help you move stuff if that is the case since that isn't too difficult (it should be like creating a notes page, but instead of notes, it is a prerelease). I say open the EXE in a hex editor and see if you can find some really interesting unused strings. It's quick and dirty but unused is unused. --Cuber456 (talk) 02:51, 24 August 2014 (EDT)
- Alright. I'll add a sucks tag for now noting the issue and if I find anything I'll get it moved. --Legoking831 (talk) 19:31, 25 August 2014 (EDT)
Placing stuff that can't be selected
I'm using cheat engine to change ID of trees and scenery that I'm placing. And it ends up being stuff (trees and bushes) that doesn't appear in the menu. Not sure if I'm onto something here --Mugg1991 (talk) 12:12, 31 January 2017 (EST)
- You sure it's unused? Or is it just stuff that you haven't gotten through research and development? --Legoking831 (talk) 18:31, 2 February 2017 (EST)
Editing Money
When I try to edit money to any other value, the game makes it go negative... --Mugg1991 (talk) 12:24, 31 January 2017 (EST)
Secrets
There are special guest names, clickable pond ducks, and other obscure secrets that Chris Sawyer included in the game. I think many of these secrets got carried over to RCT2 as well. Chris had a website documenting these, but has since went defunct. I'm sure there is an archived version somewhere. Website also includes secrets in his other game programming projects. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) 18:22, 19 September 2024 (UTC)
- The Definitive RCT Reference Guide - The real website is now defunct as far as I can tell, but there are some interesting 3rd party tools and documentation for the game. Looks like unused sound banks. There's even a tracks pack page (scroll towards the very bottom) about the developers making their own tracks that didn't ship in the base game and expansions, but most ended up as tracks in RollerCoaster Tycoon 2. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) 04:40, 23 September 2024 (UTC)

- There is even a Gold and Deluxe release (revisional difference) of this game. Deluxe is a bundle of base game and expansions and Gold. Most notable thing about Gold release is a dump of TD4 files (pre-made track designs) named u(xxxx).td4. Supposedly, user-generated content for a website long ago, predating Steam Workshop. I could be mixing up Deluxe and Gold editions, but this exists. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) 14:56, 24 September 2024 (UTC)
