GBA and DS versions

There are two different versions for each platform - I own the GBA one. An admin should add "DS" to the title. :) I have no idea if they share content. // Foxhack 13:56, 6 November 2012 (EST)

On the right of the edit and history buttons on the top of this page, there is a "move" option. Use it. Montas1992 15:17, 7 November 2012 (EST)

I think they're the same, the only difference being that the DS Versions has the map on the bottom screen. But, it may be interesting to search in ROMs of the different versions to spot other differences.

Also, since, unlike for most games, the designer of the characters and the maker of the sprites have an internet site, maybe we should ask what's still in the ROM. If they know, it'll save time searching it somehow. NormalNavi - Am I the only Scurge : Hive fan on here or what? 03:34, 7 November 2012 (EST)

Doesn't the DS store its files and data in a directory structure? I don't think the GBA does so even if they had the same data, it would be stored differently. // Foxhack 14:30, 7 November 2012 (EST)
There is a program called Tinke that does just that. But for this particular game, the file names are without extensions, requiring you to open with>palette/tile/map... You are lucky this one is indeed stored like you said as multiple files ith clear names, as usually, direct GBA>NDS ports (Megaman Zero Collection jumps to mind, but also most early NDS releases) store the data under five or six huge files, which are similar in structure to the early consoles (i.e graphics, sound (well, not sound), 3D, text, level data.. in one file). Worst case scenario, even using the compressed overlay files (under ftc)..

And by the way, this page seriously lacks content: the promotional videos do not count as unused content (unless you have an actual playable prototype, of course). You should have really started uploading some unused graphics from the ROM to get this page started... You should add an entry for this game under this list:The Cutting Room Floor:Content to expand. Now that I know what to do, I'm gonna fetch said program. Thanks for the explaining... I've been lurking a lot but never really knew what to do. Thanks! *goes lurking and fetching* NormalNavi - Am I the only Scurge : Hive fan on here or what? 15:26, 7 November 2012 (EST)

EDIT (still from lvl1 ROM lurker NormalNavi) : I found some files with interesting names suggesting they are alternate designs for the enemies... but I can't get them to display properly. -_-; can someone hint me to what I should do, like try to unpack stuff? EDIT 2 : Okay. I found files called "infecter1/2/3" and, comparing with the sprites on Valcadia, I don't remember having seen them-in-game. At all. So unless my memory is just failing me, there's something, and they may be plenty of other stuff. If I can find how to extract them, I can compare with my game. • Usually, the files would have extensions like NARC, NCGR and the like. Here unfortunately (like in Pokémon DS games) there isn't any, so you'll have to guess, and use the "open with" option and choose palette/tile/map. Usually there are three files per graphic, but one palette file could be shared by multiple graphics. You have to open the three files in this order: palette/tile/map, but there is a lot of guesswork to do. I tried this with the title screen, and it worked; so you won't have to use other programs like Crystaltile. I would suggest you look at text files (with the hex editor, or open with>text, but only if it's not compressed). Good luck! Montas1992 15:57, 7 November 2012 (EST)

Thanks. At least, there's something I'm sure about : I didn't see the Infecter in-game. At all. So if it's its graphics here, there's at least one unused enemy. NormalNavi - Level 1 ROM Lurker 15:59, 7 November 2012 (EST)

Awesome: you should upload it. If I were you, I wouldn't rely on sprite rips uploaded by the developers themselves (even if this would be awesome), because if they didn't include it in the ROM, that falls outside the scope of this site, at least for now (Unseen64 deals with such content) . You know, there is that scrapped enemy 3D model from Metroid Prime, and the Metal Slug deleted characters/vehicules that couldn't be put on this site because they weren't in the ROM proper. Montas1992 16:07, 7 November 2012 (EST)

As I said, the main problem is that I can't get to display them properly. But, there's SOMETHING here, for sure. Meh. I'm gonna try.. later. Off to sleep, maybe I'll get ideas of what to try. NormalNavi - Level 1 ROM Lurker 16:10, 7 November 2012 (EST)

Raah! Either there's something wrong with my ROM, or something is messing with me. I can't get the various files to show something other than static, and the title screen and option screens are OK on the upper half, but they are totally messed up on the lower one!
