I think a lot of the stuff on this page doesn't really belong here (e.g. the horse models and shopkeeper fighting styles). They're not "unused" or particularly interesting just because the player can't select them. --BMF54123 (talk) 03:56, 18 March 2019 (EDT)

Character Select

I've been experimenting with the character select code on the PAL edition, which is as follows: (unencrypted)

D0473322 0000FCFE 104B9FE0 000000??

(FCFE is R1 + R2 + Select)

?? can be any value between 0-FF. Based on my findings:

Regular Characters The normal characters in the game. They seem to be roughly in order of their introduction, i.e. Soul Blade, then Soul Calibur, then II, and finally III.

0000 = Untested, but seems to be Mitsurugi 0001 = Mitsurugi 0002 = Seong Mi-Na 0003 = Taki 0004 = Maxi 0005 = Voldo 0006 = Sophitia 0007 = Siegfried 0008 = Rock 0009 = Cassandra? (lifebar reads Hwang) 000A = Cassandra? (lifebar reads Arthur) 000B = Ivy 000C = Kilik 000D = Xianghua 000E = Lizardman 000F = Yoshimitsu 0010 = Cassandra? lifebar turns black, possibly Edgemaster'S position 0011 = Nightmare 0012 = Astaroth 0013 = Cassandra? (creates an effect identical to Inferno in SCII, after winning a round, the game crashes) 0014 = Cervantes (who was added to the home version of SC, thus he appears after everyone else) 0015 = Raphael 0016 = Talim 0017 = Cassandra 0018 = Cassandra? (name turns to Charade, creates fire effect that Charade has in SCII, after winning a round the game crashes) 0019 = Cassandra? (possibly Necrid's former slot, lifebar is blank) 001A = Yun-Seong 001B = Cassandra (lifebar turns blank, no other effects? possibly slots for the guest characters in SCII?) 001C = (probably an empty slot for Heihachi, Link or Spawn) 001D = (probably Heihachi, Link, or Spawn) 001E = Alt. Lizardman (his SCII look) 001F = Cassandra, name reads 'Assassin' 0020 = Cassandra, name reads 'Berserker' 0021 = ? name is blank - Possibly was reserved for 'Edgardo', a character planned for SCIII but was cut. 0022 = Setsuka 0023 = Tira 0024 = Zasalamel 0025 = Olcadan 0026 = Abyss (can be used to make Zasalamel play exactly like Abyss and use non-distorted Abyss voice clips.)

Unplayable, Bonus, or Misc Most of these are the Bonus Characters, some are the unplayable weird enemies you encounter in ToS or in the Missions.

0027 = Night Terror (can be used to make Nightmare play exactly like him. 0028 = Charade (regular - 2P outfit is Seong Mi-Na's 1P, but acts the same) 0029 = Charade (blog + legs, uses the Grieve Edge style) 002A = Charade (blob, uses Cassandra's style) 002B - Will-o-the-wisp (Orange - alternates between Astaroth, Nightmare, Tira, Mitsurugi and Lizardman's styles, aka the characters with Soul Edge as their best weapon) 002C - Will-o-the-wisp (Blue - as above) 002D - Doppelganger (mimics the opponent - and stays this way throughout whatever mode is selected.) 002E - Shadow Master (a Mimic character that switches between the CaS styles, completely pitch black and uses the Inferno voice clips.) 0030 = Amy (Rapier), listed earlier than the other Bonus Characters 0031 = Colossus (actually has a 2P outfit, or rather a different colour. His weapons are 'scaled up' and thus you could use Olympus Punisher on another character and they would be normal size.) 0032 = Crashes the game, if used after character is selected, name displays as 'Lizard Men'. Connected to Tales of Souls and the fight agains the classic Lizardman. 0033 = 'Bird' - Cassandra 0034 = 'Butterfly' - Cassandra 0035 = Zasalamel (doesn't play any voice clips, eyes are closed, possibly connected to his ending or another cutscene in ToS, announcer claims his name is Mitsurugi) 0036 = Alt. Lizardman (crown) as seen in his ending 0037 = Alt. Lizardman (Voldo) as seen in Voldo's Input Ending (only has one outfit) 0038 = Lizardman (same as original except his tail has dropped off, as seen in his weapon exhibition, announcer quote is 'Mitsurugi'.) 003A = Cavalry (One of the low-poly models in COTS mode, crashes the game) 003B = Infantry (as above) 003C = Heavy Infantry (as above) 003D = Thief (as above) 003E = Blank (looks the same as Infantry) 003F = Blank (looks the same as Infantry) 0040 = C0 (Cassandra), seems like a placeholder CaS style 0041 = Miser (Katana + Shuriken) 0042 = Greed (Kunai) 0043 = Arthur (Katana) 0044 = Hwang (Chinese Sword) 0045 = Luna (Chinese Blade) 0046 = Valeria (Grieve Edge) 0047 = Hualin (Staff) 0048 = Giradot (Lance) 0049 = 'C9' normally Cassandra 004A = Demuth (Fan) 004B = Aurelia (Flail) 004C = Chester (Dagger) 004D = Strife (Iron Sword) 004E = Abelia (Sword and Shield) 004F = Lynette (Tambourine) 0050 = C16 (Cassandra) 0051 = Li-Long (Nunchaku) 0052 = C18 (Cassandra) 0053 = C19 (Cassandra) 0054 = Revenant (Wave Sword) 0058 = Lynette's shopkeeper data (crashes the game) 0059 = Valeria (both stance and character crash the game, probably her shopkeeper stuff) 005A = Hualin (Shopkeeper stance, moving crashes the game)

Create a Soul Using these codes will let you use your CaS character in any mode. Trying to 'brute force' this, however, will have them default to Soul of Mitsurugi rather than their actual class's style. If the slot is empty, the game will load a placeholder 'Creation' character, a green-skinned male with long white hair and no clothing (except white underwear).

0060 = Creation Slot 1 0061 = Creation Slot 2 0062 = Creation Slot 1 (again) 0063 = Creation Slot 2 (again) 0064 = Creation Slot 1 (again) 0065 = Creation Slot 2 (again?) 0066 = Creation Slot 3 0067 = Creation Slot 4 0068 = Creation Slot 5 0069 = Creation Slot 6 006A = Creation Slot 7 0070 = Creation Slot 1 0071 = Creation Slot 2 0072 = Creation Slot 1

(still looking into this section, will need to find the codes for slots 8, 9, and 10. These seem to be specific to Memory Card in Slot A)

Tales of Souls NPCs The un-named CAS enemies you find across ToS.

0080 = 'NPC', another Cassandra 0081 = Berserker 0082 = Sophitia with Tambourine? (Announcer still calls out Sophitia) 0083 = Sophitia with Kunai (Announcer still calls out Sophitia) 0084 = Samurai (Katana) 0085 = Gladiator Female (Iron Sword) 0086 = Gladiator Male (Sword & Shield) 0087 = Unknown Soul (Li Long) 0088 = Unknown Soul (Hwang) 0089 = Unknown Soul (Arthur) 008A = Fu-ma Ninja (Kunai - male) 008B = Fu-ma Ninja (Sickle - female) 008C = Fu-ma Ninja (Katana & Shuriken - male) 008D = Bandit (Jian) 008E = Bandit (Sickle) 008F = Thief (Dagger, male) 0090 = Thief (Dagger, female) 0091 = Pirate (Dagger, male) 0092 = Pirate (Chinese Sword, female, one of the few enemies to actually use the Old Lady voice) 0093 = Assassin (Female, kunai) 0094 = Swordsman (Male, Chinese Blade) 0095 = Footsoldier (Sword and Shield, male) 0096 = General (Iron Sword, male) 0097 = Sentry (Staff, male) 0098 = Keres (Iron Sword, has a unique red energy effect and uses the 'Inferno' voice set that Revenant does) 0099 = Dragon (Chinese Sword) - has a unique Chinese Sword

Chronicles of the Sword - Generic Characters

The first name is the default outfit. The second name is the '2P outfit'. The third is either Colour Edit, and is usually a Rebel or Halteese no-name soldier, and prone to glitching.)

Chronicles of the Sword - Main Characters These aren't the same as their Bonus Character forms. These are all the COTS characters with a unique weapon, even if the character itself can't be unlocked, and thus have unique narrator clips.

00E0 = Abelia (COTS, different personality from her 'playable' form? - 3rd outfit is a male Grandal soldier with a female voice?) 00E1 = Luna (COTS, third outfit is a female with cat ears and a male voice) 00E2 = Giradot (COTS, his first outfit's cape is a different shade, third outfit is Chester's 2nd outfit? 00E3 = Strife (COTS, colours might be a slightly different colour, third outfit is Aurelia's outfit?) 00E4 = Chester (COTS, his first outfit is the one he's first seen wearing, the second is his actual first outfit when he's normally playable, third seems to be Aege?) 00E5 = Demuth (COTS, his third outfit is Heal-Do) 00E6 = Aurelia (COTS, third outfit is Heal-Do?) 00E7 = Aege (has 2 outfits) 00E8 = Heal-Do (has 2 outfits) 00E9 = Elua (has 2 outfits) 00EA = Lupi (has 2 outfits) 00EB = Roin (has 2 outfits) 00EC = Kierkess (has 2 outfits) 00ED = Hyle 00EE = Mooncalf 00EF = Ende

Save Bug

This notorious bug occurs if you delete a save file of another PlayStation 2 game prior to creating a save file and unlocking various content for Soulcalibur III. It creates a dummy file on the Memory Card that cannot be deleted. Autosaving can also cause this problem.

Unused Dialogue

There is a video on YouTube called "Narrator Voice Set Version 2" that has a huge amount of callouts that are never heard in-game. Here are a few I gathered from it and what they were probably used for. Some of them sadly are unknown. I know as I've played the game for a very long time.

  • "Loses"-Alternate term for lose.
  • "1000"-This would have been used for the survival mini game.
  • "Welcome to the new stage of destiny"- An alternate line of the famous stage of history opening dialogue.
  • "Game Over"-This would have been used after the countdown dropped to zero.
  • "Free Training"-This would have been used when you selected this mode in Practice.
  • "Start"-An alternate line for beginning a battle. This can be heard when doing the missions in Tower of Souls mode for Soulcalibur IV.
  • "An encounter"-This would have been used when you select the battle option on the battlefield against an opponent in Chronicles of The Sword Mode.
  • "Chronicle Cleared"-This would have been used after you completed a chronicle in Chronicles Of The Sword Mode.
  • "Was seriously wounded but the soul still burns"- Very well known for its use in Soul Blade and SoulCalibur. Used for the Replay Screen.
  • "Action!"-Not sure where this would be used.
  • "Challenge"-Not sure where this would be used.
  • "Watch Out!"-This would have been used when a stage event cutscene involving Raphael, Cervantes, Astaroth and Zsamlamel tried to attack you.
  • "Press the button rapidly!"- This would have been used for the flashing buttons that appear on screen when the event attacks happen.
  • "Namco"-Just an alternate take.
  • "SoulCalibur 3"-Just an alternate take.
  • A lot of stage introductions reused from Soulcalibur 2.
  • A lot of unused stage introductions for the game.
