Regarding the "Sucks" Tag

Hey, I've gone through this entire page and done some serious rewriting and corrections, as the "sucks" tag at the top of the page once requested. I felt like I did a good enough job to remove the "sucks" tag, but please let me know if anyone disagrees! The Only Zac (talk) 18:57, 30 April 2014 (EDT)

PAL PS2 observations

Right. Been playing this here game to reach 100% (don't ask) and been doing so through the Platinum pressing (which has a matching manual barcode on the back of each, usually these recycle the Black Label one so something is changed in the manual, not necessarily the info about the game but still) which has no differences in the game code (Regards, REDUMP) as it's the same as the Black Label one. Now. Dunno if PS2 PAL version is more polished than the others or not as I've heard both PS2 and Cube versions are horrid and the internet is so damng 'Murica centric with everything it makes you wonder about and question everything plus I didn't encounter (or, haven't encountered should we say, there's like one level to go) major issues at all. (Is PAL your friend (or, can we say pal) after all?) Nope, I didn't use the gem finder ability at all kek. What's been going on however:

  • Manual shows "Monkey Monk Monastery" in the clearly not even final Atlas.
  • Manual shows different pause menu layout (could be earlier revision thing or the one from GameyCubey, you can't trust anything these days).
  • In-game demo sequences (attract mode) seem a bit out of synchro.
  • Sometimes a certain kind of sound effect stays playing when paused.
  • Sometimes music stays playing when paused.
  • In the Thieves Den maze, the music got bugged once and stuttered through a segment twice before continuing to the next one. Next loop was fine again.
  • Once died when having FULL HEALTH SPARX.
  • Once didn't lose any Sparx health when taking a hit.
  • Gates were not activating their thing sometimes when going through them.
  • One time in Cloud 9 a certain enemy type got a part of it extended in a glitchy way.
  • One time when paused for a long time the music didn't come back at all.
  • Once when clearly going through a ring at the edge side didn't count.
  • One time a guy clearly rubberbanded or spawned near me after passing (we went different ways) and almost made a race lost.
  • That guy telling to gather more Dragonflies for Honey Marsh Rapids (!) when not having enough played the voice telling you about having gathered enough after his line each time. (This obviously didn't make the level available.)
  • In said level I did encounter a vase you could walk through but also charge to break it, containing no gems. Didn't stop 100% the level though.
  • Empty baskets in Jurassic Jungle.
  • Jurassic Jungle slide section, NPC voice being off with the voice that happens when ticking no to go away.
  • When in a segment with no Sparx, Atlas also doesn't have Sparx going around.
  • Widescreen seems like an afterthought as there's issues as soon as you reach the title screen (manual is funny, according to it the in-game setting "allows you to set your TV display to a 16/9 resolution" - IF ONLY DEVICES WOULD BE THAT SMART (why is it that it's only smart when you can internet with it, that smartness also has to be coded by someone anyway, not so SMART after all eh), you can do that without setting the game the 16:9 but who would want to do that while anything 4:3 is going on). Background doesn't extend all the way and it seems the animations are only 4:3 protected. The opening scene seems to have similar issues with protection as well. Did I got them there?
  • Some tracks take ages to start again, though dunno if they by design have a million seconds of silence or not. (I've heard this complaint with Psyro 1 that there's up to liek 10 seconds of silence, no there's not, that's the illusion caused by the fade-out, turn your volume up, it's mostly a second or two you can't hear effectively at most, maybe moar when there's other sound effects going on. I've heard dem files, there's audio all the way, just the bit where the laser tracks the start again is that small absolut silenz. Outside that one track which has silence. AT THE BEGINNING!)
  • Manual is funny, it says about "Exit Level" this thing here: "Exit the current game?" - is the manual also unfinished?
  • I did try the boss clip bugging, was fun.
  • User Camera Cheat was interesting, is this thing where you use the second controller (L3+X to activate, L and R sticks with L3 and/or R3 if I recall doing things, L3+TRIANGLE to disable) the same as the Cheat Menu thing?
  • Somehow being able to charge with standing still animation a few times kek.
  • Framerate tanks sometimes, usually non-fatally. Speedways have been the absolute worst in this regard.
  • Loading times are annoying, but only a bit. And why there's a loading bar to the loading screen each time?!
  • Recommend reading the manual, it tells you things that the game doesn't.
  • Boss acts like it's the third time I've been there when it's the first (I did the glitchy entrance to it without a memory card inserted and loaded afterwards kek).
  • Boss somehow got to the point of me not being able to take damage.
  • Also I don't buy this claim I see a lot, "whatever happens to Crash happens to Psyro", if so then where's all the Psyro racing games?! That's right, there isn't one. Only guest appearances in Crash racing games, which do not count.

This is hopefully of use to someone. Remember, this is from the PAL perspective. If some more and less widely known issues aren't mentioned here, I didn't have them. And yes, those manual quotes are word to word as said in it. Oh, and Crash Nitro Kart is apparently available November 2003. --PSXDRIVERPLAYER OUT. (talk) 17:16, 29 March 2024 (UTC)

A few bullet points added, forgot some originally dammit. --PSXDRIVERPLAYER OUT. (talk) 18:07, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
