Kuribo's Shoe

It was called "Kuribo's Shoe" in the original SMB3 and "Goomba's Shoe" in SMA4. I don't think it was ever called Kuribo's Goomba, as Kuribo is the Japanese word for Goomba. --Fry's Dead Dog (I will wait for you) 19:55, 24 November 2011 (EST)

The writer was referring to the enemy that wears Kuribo's Shoe, not the shoe itself. Kuribo's Goomba was actually the official English name for the enemy in the Super Mario All-Stars Player's Guide, as seen in the scan below:

I stand corrected! Good, job, NOA! --Fry's Dead Dog (I will wait for you) 19:06, 25 November 2011 (EST)
Whoever wrote that guide was an idiot. "Kuribo's Goomba" is a ridiculous name, akin to something like "Jugem's Lakitu". I get the feeling this particular enemy never had an official name, being just a standard Goomba in a shoe, so the writer just made it up on the spot, not realizing what "Kuribo" actually meant. --BMF54123 23:06, 24 November 2011 (EST)
Yeah, the name of this enemy has always been... messy. I'd go with the SMA4 name over the SMAS one, but even then the name is more referring to the item than the enemy itself. You might as well just call the enemy "Shoe Goomba", because it's better than the other names available.
I can see how the writer of the SMAS guide could make the odd choice of using "Kuribo's Goomba". As you said, he probably didn't know what Kuribo meant and was given the translated name "Kuribo's Shoe". He probably thought "but that doesn't sound like an enemy name." and changed it to Goomba to make more sense. --Peardian 00:03, 25 November 2011 (EST)
Error or not, I merely made the reply to show that the name Kuribo's Goomba was used in a Nintendo (of America) publication. I agree that Shoe Goomba is a better name for it. --Mattrizzle 11:09, 25 November 2011 (EST)
