Are those enemy spawns actually unused? Given that they're rather buggy I'm a bit hesitant to believe they aren't just a fluke glitch. --Xk-sig.png Xkeeper (talk) 19:35, 27 June 2010 (EDT)

Well, they are surrounded by a lot of legitimate enemy values and as a whole the entire monster index is organized extremely well. Not completely certain if they are legitimate, but if there's a chance they are, the Digdogger and the flying object are more likely to be than the meteor shower objects. On the other hand, the meteor shower objects could be a piss-poor attempt at weather effects. --West 04:33, 28 June 2010 (EDT)

I couldn't get the circular flying object to work right on the version I was using. What version did you use, PRG 0 or PRG 1? -- Rick 11:02, 28 June 2010 (EDT)
Meteor shower objects? Would be curious to see those. Wonder if they're meant to be falling rocks, like the ones you have to avoid on Death Mountain in Ocarina of Time. -GlitterBerri 19:18, 5 March 2012 (EST)
On my old notes it says nothing, but was probably tested on PRG1 anyway. --West 11:45, 28 June 2010 (EDT)

Wasn't there a trick to killing the Pol's Voice in the Famicom version by plugging in a microphone and speaking in it or something?

I wonder if the code for that is still in the American version. -- Rick 22:43, 16 July 2010 (EDT)

I believe it doesn't work in the American version. Certainly not with real hardware. Didn't seem to do anything on nestopia for me either... Though I lack skill to analyze its program code to check. Theclaw 16:49, 28 September 2012 (EDT)

Debug Mode

TLOZ Debug1.png TLOZ Debug2.png

Over two hours ago, I made a stunning discovery using the FCEUX emulator. By searching with the "Hex Editor", I started to change the screen loadings of the game. By starting the "Register your name" screen on the title screen, I was able to create three save states with three different coloured Links. The default name is "00000000" and the Game Over counter stays always the same.

By choosing one of the three save states, you'll be fully equipped with much more powerful items.

If you try to activate the "Register your name" screen on a screen other than the title screen, you'll never see these strange three save states. This proves that this is part of a Debug Mode which can be activated on the first screen of the game only.

This makes me think of the method in Link's Awakening.

I (Link) have translated this text. I'm back to help Dark Linkaël.

--Dark Linkaël 09:03, 23 August 2011 (EDT)

To me, it looks more like a glitch caused by improperly initialized data. In other words, a bug, not a feature. --Smallhacker 12:11, 23 August 2011 (EDT)
I tested this a lot this afternoon and I think the same, unfortunately. The only thing that seems strange to me is that it only works on the title screen. I still think it's a glitch. Too bad! --Dark Linkaël 12:16, 23 August 2011 (EDT)

2003 version findings

I got my hands on what I HOPE is the Gamecube collection ROM, and the only difference I could find is the Continue/Save/Retry screen, which is PRG1's but without the warning text. Otherwise it's the same as PRG1. Of course, I may just have the Animal Crossing ROM... --Don't try pressing it, now. Techokami (talk) 16:26, 7 November 2011 (EST)

I thought it was worth noting that the 3DS version (the one that came with the Ambassadors Programme) is also the same as the original PRG1 version (including the warning text).--Vinnyboiler 11:32, 30 November 2011 (EST)

Mistranslations

I found this website where it has a section that retranslates Zelda. Keep in mind the translations were by Tomato, the translator for the Mother 3 fan translation.

The line, “Eastmost penninsula is the secret.” in the Japanese version is, “You can’t use arrows if you run out of money.” --Chpexo 15:46, 6 May 2013 (EDT)

Unused Item/Object

...hey. dropped item 0351:60+00AE:0E This "item" is deep between legitimate values, makes the "key appear" sound when taken on the overworld, and crashes in labyrinths. Is this thing notable enough to go on the page? West (talk) 02:39, 26 April 2014 (EDT)

What version of the rom you used? FDS or NES? ROM J1.0 or Usa? --Porcino (talk) 05:36, 26 April 2014 (EDT)
I used the codes in the USA version. I think the item is a placeholder. I do not know if it's a glitch. I've tried other values outside the normal margin that would be up to 0x22

The swords have a strange effect. And I have not tested the weird arrows too.I wonder if these values the amount of bombs is normal.--Porcino (talk) 11:23, 26 April 2014 (EDT)
The reason I asked was because the value is deep within valid items and does something the glitch items don't. The values you listed are almost definitely glitch values. I used PRG1 USA version. West (talk) 13:01, 26 April 2014 (EDT)

Unused Screen Animation?

Using the codes at the title screen.
0012:00 Help 0011:00 reset the game.
0012:01 Enters a selection of saved files, curiously pre-defined name is 00000000.
0012:02 Starting the game on the presentation screen with this code, Link will stop in area (0,0) of the map and no hearts.
0012:03 Unused Screen Animation? I wonder what that is. --Porcino (talk) 00:12, 6 May 2014 (EDT)

Eeeeh.... Looking at that RAM address, it seems to deal with screen modes. That particular screen mode you noted as "unused" is just the standard transition when starting a game. West (talk) 02:14, 6 May 2014 (EDT)
