Bug Fixes

Oddly, some of the bugs fixed in NA 1.0 reappear in NA 1.2. The 1.2 revision seems to be an update of the first North American release instead of the revised 1.1.

Am I reading this wrong or shouldn't it be "some of the bugs fixed in NA 1.1 reappear in NA 1.2"? --Smallhacker 17:46, 23 July 2011 (EDT)

Different revisions

Actually, Link's Awakening is a game that has a lot of different revisions and it is sometimes difficult to find which one we are talking about. So, I thought that it would be good to have a quick way to know how many different revisions there are, and which difference applies in which revision. I think this kind of table could make it :

Mono DX
JP US FR G JP US FR G

However, it would take some room in the page...

I recently wrote an article about the different revisions of Link's Awakening. And I have got the feeling that having this Wiki page conform to a consistent table of the revisions will be kind of hard... --Morwenn 11:35, 29 April 2014 (UTC+1)

Dungeon Hints

The reason for the tablets being redrawn as owl statues in the DX versions is likely due to the increased number of hints. Inserting a single chunk of tablet into two different tablets and receiving two different hints just doesn't make much sense.

Comparisons inconsistencies

It seems that we are pretty inconsistent with the titles of the differences aboce the images and the texts:

  • "Original version" vs "Mono"
  • "Japanese version" vs "Japanese" vs "JP"
  • "Version" vs "Revision"
  • ...

Charactername differences between german cartridge & Virtual Console versions

I was wondering, since at least Crazy Tracy and BowWow have their names changed from the original version to the Virtual Console release, should we be noting that here as well? Or do you think that this is irrelevant? FYI, Crazy Tracy was originally named "Geierwally", but got renamed to "Trantrudi" in the Virtual Console version, while BowWow was originally "Struppi", and renamed to "Komet" for the VC version.

Which makes me wonder if any other names got changed between releases for other languages as well. Can someone check that? Jaryl (talk) 04:17, 13 December 2015 (EST)

Is "fillip" really a typo?

Doing a bit of research, it seems that "fillip" may not have been a typo, but rather the use of some archaic language that they may have changed due to the average person's unfamiliarity with the word. From Merriam-Webster:

Definition of fillip (Entry 1 of 2) transitive verb

1a: to make a filliping motion with
 b: to strike or tap with a fillip
// filliped him on the nose
2: to project quickly by or as if by a fillip
// fillip crumbs off the table
3: STIMULATE
// with this to fillip his spirits

I would definitely consider what Link does to enemies with his shield "project[ing] quickly by or as if by a fillip" (two of the definitions of "fillip" as a noun are "a blow or gesture made by the sudden forcible straightening of a finger curled up against the thumb" and "a short sharp blow"). It may be that it wasn't really a typo at all, just changed to clear things up for people unfamiliar with the word. --LocalH (talk) 03:15, 23 September 2019 (EDT)

"The Credits Song" original vs DX are swapped

The audio files are wrong - the one labelled Link's Awakening is from Link's Awakening DX and the one labelled Link's Awakening DX is actually from Link's Awakening. This can be verified with some TAS or speedrun videos of each version. Harimaron (talk) 09:48, 13 January 2020 (EST)
