Oddities

A few things that I've not been sure if you guys want on this page:

  • The command line easter egg INTRO HISSS JIVE is very well known, but one of the subtitles in it is unreadable. It ought to say:
Iree. Slap it down there!

This bug seems to be because this bit of text for the easter egg is written as one line, while the normal version has it as two. So, it displays the line for the egg, then writes the second line from the normal intro over top of it in a big garble.

  • Luther's line:
[dialogue choice] brave
"Now that I am Lord of the
Bears, Monitor is at last safe from
invasion"

is not unused, although people think it is, it's actually triggered by Lord Marsten (of the Leopards) being jailed. It just... doesn't make any sense in this context.

  • Selina has a couple of lines if you manage to take her to see Shmed at the Knight's Test. She normally leaves your party if you go in any direction other than towards the Mint, but it's possible to chain invite her over to him. (It's much, much easier to just cheat teleport over there, though.)

  • The one seaworthy boat in the game is normally only used in a cutscene, but a seemingly unrelated document on a desk in the Ranger's HQ acts as a deed for it. This is because the way ship ownership works in the Ultima 7 engine is that when you click on a sail it checks your inventory for an Object 797 (scroll, etc.) with a Quality that matches, Quality 0 in this case. Of course, if you're in Moonshade (without cheating), the ship has been beached and you can only sail around on the grass. (I stumbled on this one on a blog or forum I think, but I have not for the life of me been able to find any trace of it again) -Lavacopter (talk) 05:28, 19 May 2014 (EDT)

More Oddities

In one dungeon - unfortunately I don't remember which one, but it might be the same that the Everlasting Goblet can be found in - there is a small stone bridge leading from West to East over a pit. Under the bridge there is a sign that can only be seen by using a cheat to teleport yourself into the pit or remove the floor of the bridge. The sign says: "Don't cheat!"

In some places there are enemies that fire magic spells. If you pause the game by pulling up the character menu when one of those magic projectiles is near you, you can actually pick it up and place it in the hands of your characters. They will then be able to use the projectiles as a weapon and fire an unlimited(?) amount of them. IkeFox (talk) 13:06, 4 February 2020 (EST)
