Guard Uniform

the "stealing guard unforms" stuff comes from here, which also confirms that there was supposed to be an EGA mode for Wolf 3D at one time. however, none of this is found in the game, so I'm not sure if the guard uniform fact should be kept, as it can't be found in the game's files. I would personally nix it if it can't be found in the game's files or if it wasn't coded in at any point during development. I don't know much about the making of the game, so I can't say for sure if it was ever in or not. -- Rick 00:10, 7 August 2010 (EDT)

"Fart" Sound Effect Easter Egg

In level 10 of episode 1 and level 9 of episode 2 (and maybe another level that I forgot), there's a slim chance (1/256) that a dying enemy can make a farting sound effect. Anti-Cheating?

In the Rise of the Triad article there's a mention of an anti-cheating measure in Wolfenstein 3D when loading edited saves (that has "harmful consequences"), linking to this article.
However, there's no mention of an anti-cheating measure at all in the article itself. Huh? --Wanny (talk) 18:02, 22 January 2023 (UTC)

Things related to source code.

The page makes mention of a few things relating to source code, namely about scrapped features being reimplemented back into the game. Should it be moved over to the development article or left here? The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mantis (talk • contribs)

Newer version of the title screen?

So I was looking around for the original source of the SNES title screen and found a newer version of the DOS version's title screen on https://joesiegler.blog/2017/05/wolfenstein-3d-turns-25/. There aren't many differences, but the guard's legs are squished compared to the version in the beta, and there's a crudely drawn BETA 0.1 over the Alpha text. Two pixels to the side of BJ's head are also cyan in the beta, but here they're black. --PossiblyAMagicMage (talk) 10:38, 13 November 2023 (UTC)

It's newer than the one in the beta is what I'm saying. You can tell from the guard's legs being squished like the final version. --PossiblyAMagicMage (talk) 15:35, 13 November 2023 (UTC)

Demo recording functionality

Wolf3D has some demo recording functionality, apparently. Start the game with "-goobers", then enter a level and do the key combo to enable debug. This will enable debug mode. Go back to the main menu (end game), then press and hold tab at the title screen. If it doesn't pop up a window, press any key while holding tab. When the window pops up, type a level number and press enter. Level number is the internal level id for the level (so 1 is e1m1, 11 is e2m1, 50 is e5m10). It should show the DEMO sign at the top and give you control over the game, while running at 17.5 fps. Play for a while but make sure not to play too long, or it'll crash. If you do tab+e to complete the level, die, or complete the level normally, it'll go to a black screen. Type a single digit number and press enter. This will save the demo as "demo#.wl%", % being your game version (1 shareware, 3 three-episode apogee, 6 full registered/commercial), and # being the number you typed. When you go back to DOS, you should see the demo file in your wolf3d directory.

Robert's Jukebox in DOSBox

I cannot, for the life of me, get this to work in DOSBox. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, if anything. I'm holding M immediately after typing WOLF3D and hitting ↵ Return, and I even have my cycles set low so it loads the game slowly, but it just refuses to boot to Robert's Jukebox in versions 1.1, 1.4, or GT Interactive 1.4.

I know this thing works. I very clearly remember doing it in actual DOS back in 1992. Any ideas on what's happening here?

Got this to work with DOSBox, by setting very low cycles in some iD branded v1.4. Maybe it doesn't work with all releases or requires certain parameters? --PSXDRIVERPLAYER OUT. (talk) 16:32, 4 July 2024 (UTC)
