Most of the time, you will use {{needstranslation}} directly. However, to just show example usage, you should use {{needstranslation|nocat=true}} so the page you're showing example usage on doesn't get categorized itself. ...If you somehow have any info you'd like to give to the translators, use {{needstranslation|lang=XX|This happens near the end of the game, so the first word means "end", not "kill".}}
