This is for use on old-ass pages. Most of the time, you will use {{Needsupdate}} directly. However, to just show example usage, you should use {{Needsupdate|nocat=true}} so the page you're showing example usage on doesn't get categorized itself. If you want to specify some editing tips that would improve the article, write it on the first parameter. e.g.: {{Needsupdate|Rearrange the sections chronologically.}}.
