...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes.

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King is a tie-in based on Peter Jackon's The Return of the King film and with some elements of The Two Towers. Much like The Two Towers, the game revolves around you going through levels with the main characters.

It's also very difficult to extract game models and sounds from inside the .SCW files.

Prerelease Info

  • Sometimes, when completing a level, there is a chance that the game will crash.
  • Actions on the blue rounded thingie are disabled. As a result, roughly about 1/3rd of the game's levels cannot be completed.
  • Because only Sam is playable, gameplay, in general, is more difficult.
  • ...Not to mention that the game's difficulty is set to Hard.
  • Experience points are massively reduced.

  • Co-op will simply crash. Possibly the game is trying to run two Sams.

Character Select

  • You can only play as Sam, even if you select other characters.

Helm's Deep

  • If playing on a new game, Gandalf is only playable once.
  • If returning, only Sam will be playable.

Version Differences

The Windows version was available in CD-ROM or DVD-ROM releases. The DVD edition features bonus content.
