Accessories & Prop Models

Found In File Name Image Notes
Sims3D/Objects03.package runawayStick_tslocator_gmdc TS2-BindleRender.png An unused model of a bindle Teen Sims would have carried if they were running away from home, according to the associated Fear and/or Memory. In the final game, Sims just leave the Lot holding nothing, as if they were a visitor.
Sims3D/Objects03.package birthdayCakeBox_root_rot_gmdc TS2-Cakebox.png A birthday cake box model that matches the textures found here. It originally was a part of the scrapped birthday cake ordering feature. The model would be repurposed as Rod Humble's present in the FreeTime expansion, instead containing a computer with an exclusive game.
Sims3D/Objects03.package paperSack01_root_rot_gmdc TS2-Paperbag1.png A model of a paper bag that is similar to the bad date "reward" from Nightlife except as a different model. Dates are not present in the base game, and there are no known models for other rewards...perhaps it was planned to be randomly dropped off by enemies instead?
Sims3D/Objects03.package paperSack02_root_rot_gmdc TS2-Paperbag2.png A different version of the paper bag above, which appears to be containing something.
Sims3D/Objects03.package paperSack03_root_rot_gmdc TS2-Paperbag3.png The paper bag from above, but squished and torn. This could be after a Sim stomps on it.
Sims3D/Objects03.package volleyball_root_rot_gmdc TS2-Volleyball.png The Sims: Vacation featured a volleyball net that Sims could play with. This model implies that a similar feature was planned for The Sims 2. It may have been repurposed into the "Professor Von Ball" item that Knowledge Sims take out during aspiration failure since that item is a volleyball with a graduation cap and a drawn-on face.
Sims3D/Objects03.package accessoryKickyBag_slot_phone_gmdc Kickybagblue.png Kickybaggreen.png Kickybagorange.pngKickybagred.png In The Sims 2: University, a new game in the "Play..." menu called Kicky Bag was introduced. The model combined with the textures found here prove that it was actually planned for the base game. In University, there is only a red kicky bag texture. Perhaps there was a chance for it to be any one of the four colors.
Sims3D/Objects03.package cardboardBox_clothe_root_rot_gmdc TS2CardboardboxClothes.png A model of a cardboard box containing a pile of clothing. It is unknown what the item's purpose was. Could it have worked like the dressers? Recently, a Tumblr post was made showing that the model was part of the game's testing cheats and can be added back into the game with the program SimPE. It was called the Fashion Show Tester and its purpose was to view Sims' clothing in-game by having them rotate in place.
Sims3D/Objects03.package careerBox_root_rot_gmdc TS2-Careerbox.png A model of a cardboard box. The purpose of the item is unknown. The name "careerBox" suggests that it may have had something to do with developing careers. This Tumblr post, however, shows a beta screenshot of the game from SimsNetwork featuring the box among the furniture. The caption claims that it was part of the moving feature, but it is unknown if that is true.

Furniture Models

Sims3D/Objects03.package stereoWallClassical_root_rot_gmdc The-sims-2-classical-wall-speakers-model.png The model for the unused classical wall-mounted speaker, looking completely different from other Community Lot speakers.
Sims3D/Objects03.package vanityTableMarble_vanitybench_surface_gmdc TS2Vanitystool.png A model of a stool for a vanity table. Although it did not make it into the base game, a similar object is available in The Sims 2: University.
Sims3D/Objects03.package vanityTableMarble_glass_rot_gmdc TS2Vanitymirror.png A model of a mirror to be placed in the vanity table. Although it did not make it into the base game, a similar object is available in The Sims 2: University.
There are no textures associated with the model.
Sims3D/Objects03.package vanityTableMarble_tslocator_gmdc TS2VanityBase.png A model of a vanity table with no stool or mirror attached. Although it did not make it into the base game, a similar object is available in The Sims 2: University. It is unknown why all models for the item are separated.
Sims3D/Objects03.package table_card_cheap_tslocator_gmdc TS2 Tablecardcheap.png A dining table that is very similar to one from The Sims. A smaller 1x1 version of this table would make it into the final game. A Custom Content recreation of the item can be found here.
Sims3D/Objects03.package UrnCheapMetal_root_rot_gmdc TS2Urncheapmetal.png A cheap metal urn which could have been meant for sims who died in aspiration failure. Since the regular urn is referred to as "Moderate" in the game files, we can theorize that there might have been three possible grave outcomes for a Sim. In the final game, every Sim gets the granite urn unless they were an elder who died in platinum aspiration. A Custom Content recreation of the item and an associated tombstone can be found here.

Neighborhood View

Found In File Name Image Notes
Sims3D/Objects03.package plesiosaur_tslocator_gmdc TS2-DecoPlesiosaur.png The Sims featured a plesiosaur that would sometimes pop up in the town's river and could be summoned with the cheat code "nessie". Based on this model, we can infer that The Sims 2 was going to have a similar feature in Neighborhood View. It is unknown why it was scrapped. A Custom Content recreation of the object can be downloaded here.
Sims3D/Objects03.package neighborhood_dino_tslocator_gmdc TS2 Neighborhooddino.png An unused dinosaur fossil decoration for a neighborhood. The model is very unfinished, so it was likely scrapped early on.
Sims3D/Objects03.package neighborhoodTombstone_root_rot_gmdc TS2 Nhoodtombstone.png This model is different from the tombstones that appear after a Sim dies, and was meant for decoration only.
Sims3D/Objects03.package placeholder_goth_tslocator_gmdc TS2Gothhousemodel.png A placeholder model for the premade Goth family's house, most likely meant for testing out Neighborhood View. For some reason, it is more detailed than one would expect a placeholder model to be. A strikingly similar model was used in Apartment Life for the apartment homes.
There are no textures associated with the model.
Sims3D/Objects03.package placeholder_house_tslocator_gmdc TS2Placeholderhouse.png A placeholder model for a regular house, most likely meant for testing out Neighborhood View. It was probably made before the Goth family house above.
There are no textures associated with the model.

Miscellaneous

Found In File Name Image Notes
Sims3D/Objects03.package caspodiumindustrial_platform_rot_gmdc and caspodiumindustrial_root_rot_gmdc The-sims-2-industrial-podium.png An early version of the podium sims stand on while in Create-A-Sim, it can be seen in some pre-release material.
Sims3D/Objects03.package templatechairloungeadirondack_tslocator_gmdc The-sims-2-loung-chair-template.png A test version of a lounge chair object. Interestingly this has an early model for an adult male sim.

There are no textures associated with the model.

Sims3D/Objects03.package templateBaby_root_rot_gmdc TS2 Templatebaby.png A very, very early template model of a baby Sim. It barely resembles a human! Perhaps they were once objects like in The Sims?

There are no textures associated with the model.

Sims3D/Objects03.package interactionTest_tslocator_gmdc TS2Interactiontester.png A model for an object most likely used by the developers to test interactions. It takes the form of a lowercase "i". It is unknown if it was for Sim-object interactions or social interactions.

There are no textures associated with the model.

Sims3D/Objects03.package circularSocialDistanceMarker_debug_tslocator_gmdc TS2 Circularsocialdistancemarker.png Another developer test object, likely meant for testing distance between Sims. It is just eight cones in a circle.

There are no textures associated with the model.
