The code checks are done by the routine that reads controller buttons, which seems to imply they are checked at any time, which is not the case?

Infinite Time

During gameplay, press A, C, B, A, B, C, B, C, B, A, C, A on Controller 2. There will be no confirmation, but once you enter the code time will freeze at 1 second once it reaches that point instead of going down to zero and issuing a game over. This setting will persist throughout the game.

Remove PAUSE Message When Paused

Press Start on Controller 2, and the PAUSE text will disappear when paused. There is no confirmation, and this setting will persist throughout the game.

  • When? Anytime?
  • The code that draws the PAUSE message also clears word $FF2D16; what is it for, a flag to mark the sprite as drawn?
