This is a sub-page of User:FanOfRosalina2007/Sandbox.

This is a sandbox for the Sega Genesis BIOS. The purpose of this sandbox is to add in some version difference information I found on a website recently, as it has not been added to the wiki. This sandbox needs images of the different console versions, so it would be great if someone could add those (I need someone else to do it as I cannot upload images). I will add a reference at the bottom of the page, which is a good place to start.

Version Differences

There are three versions of the Genesis: the original was released in 1989, the second version was released in 1994, and the third version was released in 1998.

Genesis Model 1

The first model of the Genesis notably lacked the TMSS screen at boot-up. This was only added in the first variation of the model 1 Genesis.[1]

Genesis Model 2

The second Genesis model was smaller and lighter than the original, but it did not receive many notable changes other than its appearance.[2]

Genesis Model 3

The third model of the Genesis was the smallest version, and it was not compatible with either the Sega CD or the 32X add-ons. It was licensed to video game distributor MAJESCO to manufacture.[3]
