Region Change

The effect of Region Changing still requires investigation, though it has been observed that Region Changing an A3 2 can turn it into an A3 3.

Regional and Revisional Differences

Version A3 0 (USA)

Version A3 2 (USA)

Version A3 3 (Europe)

Unused Characters

The V3 also contained number of unused characters, like many of the early connection models. The only way to access these characters is via the debug mode.

Image Name Description
TamaConnection Nazotchi.png Nazotchi This character appears during normal gameplay as a placeholder when connecting to a different version that has a character not present in the Version 2.
TamaConnection Burgertchi.png Burgertchi Characters from the Deka Tamagotchi, a promotional toy featured in a number of Japanese stores during 2004 which could connect to the V1 allowing for a unique character to appear in the friends list.
TamaConnection Capsuletchi.png Capsuletchi
TamaConnection Maikutchi.png Maikutchi
TamaConnection Omuratchi.png Omuratchi
TamaConnection Tamagotchi.png Tamagotchi
TamaConnection ThreeBlocks.png Unknown Informally known as "Three Blocks", it was probably planned to be one of the Deka Tamagotchi mascots, given by how other Tamagotchis interact with it when connecting with the V1.
TamaConnection Tsutayatchi.png Tsutayatchi Although this character cannot be selected directly from the debug menu in this version, its sprites can be seen by having a Deka character use an item which it lacks the animation sprites for. The character slot it took up in the Japanese version of the V1 was replaced with a duplicate of Nazotchi. Once again, it was probably planned to be one of the Deka Tamagotchi mascots, given by how other Tamagotchis interact with it when connecting with the V1.
Blank.png Pipotchi Although these characters are normally playable, they appear twice during the debug mode character select screen.

Password-exclusive Features

From 2006 until 2013, the Tamatown website featured a variety of games and activities which could be used to unlock additional content on the V3. The website was closed in 2013 however, and with no password generator lots of content became inaccessible under normal means. Those who already own passwords corresponding to their username - or those who simply get lucky when typing in passwords - are able to access the content, so it's technically not unused, but it is highly unlikely that a new player will ever come across this content.

Password Functionality

Passwords on the V3 correspond to the player's entered username - passwords that belong to a different username will generally not work at all. Some passwords require additional information to work - whenever a travel ticket is used, a large enough sum of money is donated to the king or the Tamagotchi visits one of its relatives, a password is generated by the V3 which would be entered into the Tamatown website. In response, Tamatown would output a password to be used on the device. Should the Tamagotchi pass on to the next generation, the recorded relatives will change and the data recording which travel ticket was most recently used is erased. This has the effect that these passwords - as well as the ones given by the Tamagotchi king - do not just work for specific usernames, but also require additional data about the Tamagotchi's relatives, travel locations and donated money to work.

Souvenirs

One of the key features of the password function was for the player to collect "souvenirs" from Tamatown. They didn't provide the player with interesting animations like normal items did; rather, they were just something to collect and look at.
