Sorry?

A 6 month ban on me for deleting stuff on my own talk page? Harsh, no? While I do realize I was wrong, "You're a real pain"? That's what a "real pain" is to you, a user deleting text on their own talk page? Well, anyway sorry for whatever I caused. See you in six months :P

You REPEATEDLY ignored our warnings not to do so, so no, I don't think it's harsh at all. Learn to heed administrative warnings in the future (and by the way, reregistering is typically grounds for a permaban; don't do that either). --BMF54123 (talk) 22:47, 20 May 2014 (EDT)

Domain question

wiki.vg is potentially moving their content to the minecraftwiki, and the owner of the domain is willing to give it away to whoever wants it, I guess for a redirect or anything you'd want. AndrewPH (talk) 19:27, 2 June 2014 (EDT)

I highly doubt we'll need it, but I'll mention it anyway. --BMF54123 (talk) 18:53, 2 June 2014 (EDT)

About the numerous edits to the 'Sega CD BIOS' page.

Whenever I tried to preview, this would come up: Some parts of the edit form did not reach the server; double-check that your edits are intact and try again. How can this be fixed? The preceding unsigned comment was added by Coltontcrf (talk • contribs)

Not sure if this is what's causing the problem, but this is the first thing I found. I never stumbled across this before. What browser are you using to edit this wiki? --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 11:17, 10 June 2014 (EDT)

I'm using the latest version of Google Chrome to edit TCRF.

Featured Articles

I do want to ask something here. I think an article should become a featured article. So the real question is "How does something become featured" (other than the given amount of content, etc.).--8SomaCruzes (talk) 19:29, 10 June 2014 (EDT)

Splitting the Solitaire page

Just so you know; while that page does cover multiple versions, 8SomaCruzes was simply following a to-do added by AttackedbyGlitch. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 14:44, 15 June 2014 (EDT)

Yeah, I realized that after the fact. I would still prefer someone a little more versed in categorization and splitting pages (and who actually visits the IRC channel, where we've been discussing it) handle it, though. --BMF54123 (talk) 14:51, 15 June 2014 (EDT)

Uploaded.

I uploaded something that was not from a tile editor. Somehow, I got the graphics to appear in-game from a glitch using cheats. Can you see what the text translates to, please? Thanks. Marioandsonicfan98 (User talk:Marioandsonicfan98)

It's just junk. All the unused Japanese text has already been translated and added to the article. --BMF54123 (talk) 18:38, 29 June 2014 (EDT)
Maybe when the creators of SMAS forgot to remove the Japanese text from the game when they were porting it from Japan to the US. (User talk:Marioandsonicfan98)
Yes. --BMF54123 (talk) 18:43, 29 June 2014 (EDT)
I guess that's too bad. How much you bet that the Japanese text is in the PAL version? (User talk:Marioandsonicfan98)
I don't know, and I'd rather we not keep discussing this on my user page, thanks. --BMF54123 (talk) 18:52, 29 June 2014 (EDT)
Good News, I found graphics that are placeholders by using a corruption tool.
I already deleted that because the same text was already in a better-looking image right above where it was in the article. Sorry --Devin (talk) 13:43, 9 July 2014 (EDT)
That was only for the ending, I found a different color variation that was actually used for the player in gameplay.
I am absolutely not interested in a differently-colored version of the same exact graphic that you found by glitching the game. Please stop adding it to the article, it is not noteworthy. --BMF54123 (talk) 14:15, 9 July 2014 (EDT)

I don't understand

Hey man, I don't understand how the Gu_Menu section of Mario Kart 8 got completely wiped out. I saw your summary that says it's not notable. I'm not asking you to bring it back, I'm just wondering. I mean it's still an unused track, right? --EP41 (talk) 02:09, 16 July 2014 (EDT)

It seemed more like a glitch than it did any actual unused data. It's also pretty common to see that redrawing issue in 3D games where there isn't a proper background. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 02:13, 16 July 2014 (EDT)
The game very likely uses it for internal purposes (e.g. in menus, judging from the filename) as a place to stick the player's kart and hide it from view. A large number of games actually do things like this. It's not "unused" in that sense, and the mere fact that you can force the game to load it without crashing isn't really worth noting. If someone can eventually prove that it actually IS an unused track, then we can add it back to the article. --BMF54123 (talk) 02:17, 16 July 2014 (EDT)
Okay, thanks. I did see the redrawing issues at games like Super Mario 3D World. --EP41 (talk) 02:31, 16 July 2014 (EDT)

Several questions regarding the Simpsons: Hit & Run Page

I hope you don't mind me asking several questions, but after revisiting the Simpsons Hit & Run page, I can see why this needs some cleaning up and I'm going to attempt to clean this up in the distant future. However, before I go further, I hope it's okay I ask some questions:

You had stated in the "Discussion" page that: "If they're just regular in-game cheats, then the content is not appropriate for TCRF, as that means the characters/cars ARE used, regardless of the developers' original intent."

However, the Content Rules & Guidelines state that an in-game cheat code is okay to add IF it relates to unused content somehow. Technically, the phonebooth car cheat does let you access several cars that are perfectly drive-able that you never get to see or drive yourself in-game. For instance, the Cell Phone Car, only seen in one of the game's missions, Cell Outs, is only used in this mission as a car you're supposed to go against. Otherwise, the player never gets to drive this car at any point during the game, since it's never sold to the player.

Another instance is the Cube Van. This car can be called with the phonebooth cheat, but not once does it actually appear in-game. It's also worth pointing out the code only works if the player 100 percents the game completely, otherwise the code simply does nothing. To me, I believe the cars (alongside the cheat) could be added since they're never seen or can't be driven by the player otherwise. Normally, the phonebooth cheat lets you use every single car that appears in the game, so it's rather odd that several cars appear here and nowhere else.

Second, how would you recommend I format the "Unused Mission Objectives" bit? The game has a couple of things commented out found in missions that can easily be re-enabled, but seeing the more recent contributions to it, that bit now looks rather messy. Should I include the otherwise unused code alongside with an explanation on what the code means? Should it be separated into a sub-page? I'd like to add that there's a lot of unused code in the mfks that do change how the game's missions play.

Finally, would you recommend that I merge the "Misplaced Objects" with the Unused Areas? They feel like they should go together, but I'm curious if that would be the best course of action.

Thank you for your time. If I have any more questions, and I can't find an answer on the Rules, I hope it's okay I ask questions. --Daluigi208 (talk) 21:31, 22 July 2014 (EDT)

First, I stick by my original statement re: the cheats, but at the same time I really don't give a crap anymore. Add whatever you like so long as it more or less follows the rules and guidelines.
Second, feel free to start a subpage explaining the code if you'd like.
Third, unused areas and misplaced objects should really be two separate sections. --BMF54123 (talk) 06:41, 10 August 2014 (EDT)

Help

How do you make prototype pages? Does it automatically add a "This game has a prototype page" or something like that if you create an article with the name "Proto:Game Name"? I noticed it wasn't at the Rules and Editing page and I need to make one. Thanks in advance. --EP41 (talk) 01:59, 24 July 2014 (EDT)

Simply make a page called "Proto:(Insert Game Name Here)". --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 02:02, 24 July 2014 (EDT)
Okay. Thanks. --EP41 (talk) 02:07, 24 July 2014 (EDT)

Mega Man 3

I think it earns the title of featured article. It has lots of content, is written well, and is being updated fairly frequently. --8SomaCruzes (talk) 09:55, 29 July 2014 (EDT)

Hey BMF54123, Think we should make an "Old Cutting Room Floor pages" category with the above pages? --Cdic-sig.png ( Cdudeiscool ) 08:14, 8 August 2014 (EDT) (That's not actually the time, because I forgot the sig.)

No. --BMF54123 (talk) 02:15, 8 August 2014 (EDT)

Apologies if this is considered impatient - still looking for help.

A while ago I sent a couple of questions to you on this talk page regarding The Simpsons: Hit & Run page. I want to look into fixing it, but I'm not quite sure where to start.

The original questions I had asked previously can be seen above. I've taken a look at the guidelines, but I'm still not quite sure they answer my questions. Specifically the commented out mission content located in the mfk files, which can change how a mission plays if added back in. I can't really seem to find any advice on what to do with content such as that.

Thanks again! --Daluigi208 (talk) 22:25, 9 August 2014 (EDT)

Sorry for the delay. Replies are above. --BMF54123 (talk) 06:43, 10 August 2014 (EDT)

Disclaimer help

Sorry for using this to ask, but I checked the help page and couldn't find any info. But where can I find a list of the disclaimers some pages have on top, for example: when a game was unreleased, or when there is nudity on a page. The reason I ask is because I want to see if there's already a disclaimer fitting to use on the BS-X games like BS Zelda and the such, in which the ROMs are not complete or representative of the actual product due to them being streamed live, and because of that, there could be things found (or not found) on the ROM, but that doesn't necessarily mean they are unused. Specially since hackers were the ones that 'reconstructed' the game by watching videos. People knowledgeable on BSX games might be aware of such things, but others might make the mistake in the future of finding unused things that aren't really unused. And if there's no fitting disclaimer, I would like to create one then. ReyVGM (talk) 12:56, 13 August 2014 (EDT)

Category:Content_templates

I think this could definitely be a useful disclaimer for the aforementioned (and other) cases, although it'd be best to let BMF (or another admin) handle the actual template creation. --Devin (talk) 13:03, 13 August 2014 (EDT)

No prob. It could also be used as a generic disclaimer fitting for other games with exclusive online content no accessible after the servers have been turned off. For example, games like Dragon Quest 9. ReyVGM (talk) 13:34, 13 August 2014 (EDT)
By the way, how do I reach the category page from the main site? ReyVGM (talk) 13:39, 13 August 2014 (EDT)
Will this get an answer? ReyVGM (talk) 17:16, 19 August 2014 (EDT)
I've been fairly busy and haven't had time to discuss this in IRC, sorry.
I'm not sure the list of content templates is linked anywhere on the main site. If it isn't, toss it on the growing pile of other things we need to fix someday. --BMF54123 (talk) 17:22, 19 August 2014 (EDT)
What about the disclaimer issue I initially asked? As for the content templates, if it's okay, I can add it somewhere on the "Rules & Editing" section. If I'm allowed, of course. ReyVGM (talk) 17:39, 19 August 2014 (EDT)
That was what I meant with my initial comment; I haven't discussed adding the new BS-X template with the other admins. I'll try to get to it tonight when I have more free time.
If you want to link to the content templates, go ahead. --BMF54123 (talk) 17:42, 19 August 2014 (EDT)

Ukueleh

He most likely is a real user. I'm not sure where you got that info from. I can say, however, he seem doesn't have a Runescape Wiki account. Correct me if I am wrong. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 23:14, 5 September 2014 (EDT)

It was a combination of the spambot-ish email address (war.ezd.00d[at]gmail.com) and the fact that his IP address came up as having vandalized a page on that wiki. --BMF54123 (talk) 23:15, 5 September 2014 (EDT)
Ah, I see. Just saw that right now. Thanks for the clarification.--From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 23:19, 5 September 2014 (EDT)

NES Palette

I noticed that very much the good majority of NES screens I'm seeing on the site now use NEStopia's palette instead of FCEUX's. Was the guidelines for NES palettes changed since we last spoke in late July? Superjustinbros (talk) 00:16, 14 September 2014 (EDT)

No. As noted on your talk page, we use Nestopia's NTSC palette emulation or the palette file provided here in your emulator of choice. -Einstein95 (talk) 00:23, 14 September 2014 (EDT)

Publisher Differences Between Regions + Other stuff

I had assumed number 5 on the list included the bobs as well. I am kind of annoyed that he only bothered adding only one publisher though -- there's eight foreign versions total and having publisher info for just one seems really strange. If you say so, though... Also, the Slippy Toad thing was nothing he or I wrote -- Supper originally did, and Benny didn't give any good reason for removing it which is why I kept putting it back. I don't know where you stand on situations like that, but in past experiences most admins haven't taken kindly to people removing or changing someone else's intro/joke like that. Benny also added the male/female confusion himself and changed it way too many times, and I only changed it once; I never really "fought" over it though. Personally I am kind of glad it's gone though because I was as sick as you were of seeing that changed. --Legoking831 (talk) 19:15, 15 September 2014 (EDT)

Generally, if two or more editors can't agree on something stupid and/or trivial, like the page intro, I remove the offending text altogether. That's just my personal policy, though, and not necessarily that of the wiki proper. --BMF54123 (talk) 19:19, 15 September 2014 (EDT)

How should I proceed?

I found unused dialogues in Link's Awakening DX US v1.2, again. This time are French dialogues. Should I create a new sub-page or update and rename this? The_Legend_of_Zelda:_Link's_Awakening/Unused_German_Dialogue --Crocodile91 (talk) 23:13, 16 September 2014 (EDT)

add + rename, worst case we can split it again. --Xk-sig.png Xkeeper (talk) 23:33, 16 September 2014 (EDT)

Rule Conflict

Sonic Robo Blast 2 is a FANGAME and the rules says that we don't allow fangames. Roakidiot (talk) 17:37, 14 October 2014 (EDT)

It falls under the grandfather clause as it was around before the rule was enacted. The rule, however, is being constantly debated. -Einstein95 (talk) 17:46, 14 October 2014 (EDT)

Tomb Raider- special case

Peter Connelly, TR3's composer, recently uploaded a track that he had created for TR3 but left unused. The same thing happened with an Angel of Darkness cutscene. Do these qualify for the pages? [1] WhoIAm (talk) 22:53, 15 October 2014 (EDT)

Hold onto that until we implement the new Development: category (or whatever we decide to call it). If we already have a page for the game, put it on the talk page. --BMF54123 (talk) 22:58, 15 October 2014 (EDT)

I'm ready for the jump.

I decided to merge Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team, but I think I should first get approval from an admin. These games are basically the same, the only real difference between them are the title screens and the game format, which is for GBA and NDS respectively. The only problem is that at the moment there aren't cheat codes that allow accessing the Debug Room, the Debug Menu and the Unused Makuhita Dojo Room in Blue Rescue Team, still I found evidence of their presence in the NDS game and I may be able to get the right codes by myself in the future. So, may I proceed in the merging process?--Crocodile91 (talk) 06:02, 16 October 2014 (EDT)

I would prefer they remain separate for now, especially since they're for two different systems. --BMF54123 (talk) 06:11, 16 October 2014 (EDT)
As you say. I will now expand the Blue Rescue Team page--Crocodile91 (talk) 06:21, 16 October 2014 (EDT)
Hi. These pages seem now very similar. May I create a sub-page in may userspace to experiment the merging of them?--Crocodile91 (talk) 08:10, 17 October 2014 (EDT)
That's fine. --BMF54123 (talk) 08:18, 17 October 2014 (EDT)
I created the sub-page and I found codes to access debug room and the other unused area in Blue Rescue Team: User:Crocodile91/Pokémon_Mystery_Dungeon:_Red_Rescue_Team_and_Blue_Rescue_Team; what do you think about it? --Crocodile91 (talk) 17:22, 17 October 2014 (EDT)
I guess the games do share enough content that a merge might be viable; however, I would prefer that we clean up the writing on that page before we move forward. Do you mind if other editors make changes to it while it's in your userspace? --BMF54123 (talk) 02:03, 24 October 2014 (EDT)
No problem, feel free to edit the page in any way. --Crocodile91 (talk) 02:48, 24 October 2014 (EDT)
