CSI Mac

Uh, I was wondering, why did you add the Mac platform to CSI: Crime Scene Investigation? When I created the article, I only worked on the Windows version; I have no idea if the content I found even exists in the Mac version. // Foxhack 16:50, 31 July 2015 (EDT)

Because most of the time, ports published by Aspyr are identical to what's in the Windows version. Furthermore, they typically leave most, if not all, of the files intact for the Mac version, especially if the company responsible for the port is just using Cider. Since the Mac version predates this, they most likely ported the source code and kept the files from the Windows version. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 17:09, 31 July 2015 (EDT)

Digital Pinball: Necronomicon

Hello Divingkataetheweirdo. Do you know if Digital Pinball: Necronomicon has staff roll? Thanks. --Rikisanmaster (talk) 00:48, 17 January 2016 (EST)

It does not have the staff roll. I checked for any mentions of it, but none of them worked. A staff roll is in its predecessor, Digital Pinball: Last Gladiators. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 00:57, 17 January 2016 (EST)
Thanks. Segaretro has it though: http://segaretro.org/Digital_Pinball:_The_Necronomicon , but I have no idea what's the source! It's not from the manual. --Rikisanmaster (talk) 01:13, 17 January 2016 (EST)

Progress

I've been making progress on the Trespasser Prototype pages over the past few months. I've been doing it slowly though because for whatever reason I just haven't had the motivation I used to have. Anyway, I think I'm pretty much done with the core of the Ingen Town page on the prototype article. I need to go back and finish up Industrial Jungle before I even think about starting on Pine Valley though. I've been anticipating doing Pine Valley for a while now though so I'm going to try and wrap up the Industrial Jungle section ASAP. Regards. Glisp (talk) 13:04, 6 February 2016 (EST)

Nice to hear that everything appears to be going fine. I'll be checking the pages out soon to check the grammar and spelling. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 13:56, 6 February 2016 (EST)

Any reason

Was there really any reason why you moved https://tcrf.net/User:Hiccup/Prerelease:New_Super_Mario_Bros. to Prerelease:New Super Mario Bros.? --8SomaCruzes (talk) 16:37, 16 February 2016 (EST)

It wasn't me who moved that, but Stomped Goomba, who did it under the recommendation of Xkeeper. Since Hiccup is permabanned from the wiki and it's unlikely he'll be back on the wiki, Stomped Goomba probably though of moving it. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 16:39, 16 February 2016 (EST)

Thanks for the heads up!

Hi. Thank you. I am sorry for not tagging them. I don't understand entirely how to tag them despite reading the guidelines a few times(And I just want to upload unused gaming things...) Do I tag them in the summary section?--Kienna (talk) 16:06, 12 March 2016 (EST)

Yes, you do tag images in the summary section. If you don't do them there, you can always edit the File page to tag them. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 16:07, 12 March 2016 (EST)

Excuse me, a small question!

I accidently re-uploaded the wrong image(I swore I saved it but I apparently didn't.) Is there anyway to undo this? Thanks and sorry again! --Kienna (talk) 16:54, 14 March 2016 (EDT)

To undo this, go to the file in question and scroll down to "File history". There, you will see a revision history of a file, complete with what the image looked like at that time. Click on "revert" to go back to an old file revision. Make sure that it's the correct revision, first. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 18:27, 14 March 2016 (EDT)

Gowcaizer

For the record, the menus are just as broken in the Japanese version. I think they used a different FIX rom for the development version, because the one in the final version of the game does not have an 8x8 Japanese character set - the menu is using some of the characters shown in the first image of the FIX viewer on the page. I'm fairly sure that if I replace the graphics that are in the current FIX rom with 8x8 versions I'll get something that's readable, however that's way beyond my current knowledge of Neo editing. // Foxhack 22:35, 12 April 2016 (EDT)

Chess Titans

Why do you dump all that text onto Chess Titans? It's not very interesting...--BossreggiN (talk) 18:50, 30 April 2016 (EDT)

Because it is technically unused and we've put similar code hidden in other games up here, like in Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime. I also thought that you skipped over it by accident. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 18:54, 30 April 2016 (EDT)

Requesting help from the link master

=) As you seem to be the only one who can insert external links into translations, can you have a look at the very last paragraph of "Hover!"? There's a link to the tool I once wrote. - Ray Koopa (talk) 05:17, 21 May 2016 (EDT)

Done. I'll see if I can get more people to post in links. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 05:20, 21 May 2016 (EDT)
Thanks, rawrsome job; I test it in another browser maybe... =3 - Ray Koopa (talk) 05:32, 21 May 2016 (EDT)

Looks like you have to approve MK8 for translation.

I added these section markers for MK8. I hope they still make sense. At first I was a bit confused as two titles beneath each other didn't work out. - Ray Koopa (talk) 09:24, 21 May 2016 (EDT)

I still have the link problem. I removed the HTTP prefix of links and wrote it in front of them. Can you fix it for me? ='3 - Ray Koopa (talk) 06:06, 22 May 2016 (EDT)
I'm done now; 2 links are missing a fix, and for some funny reason, it does not accept my few translations in the table header of the Tires section. Thanks in advance! - Ray Koopa (talk) 06:33, 22 May 2016 (EDT)

Indie Games

Can we make articles on indie games? Like, games we find on Gamejolt or some other game site (like, mainly free games)? --LOLDev (talk) 12:46, 31 May 2016 (EDT)

So long as they aren't fan games or porn, sure, you can do indie games. We already have a handful of them up here. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 17:36, 31 May 2016 (EDT)
Okay, thanks!--LOLDev (talk) 11:49, 1 June 2016 (EDT)

Aladdin

I saw that you moved Aladdin (NES) to Aladdin (NES, Virgin), I'm assuming that's because of the Aladdin bootleg. Why not rename the page Disney's Aladdin (NES) as that the games full title and the bootleg is only called "Aladdin". In fact why not rename all the pages "Disney's Aladdin"? We all already have a page called Disney's Aladdin in Nasira's Revenge and most other sites seem to list the games as "Disney's Aladdin". Plus it will avoid confuse it we list any games that star a non-Disney version of Aladdin.

Yes, it is because of the Hummer Team bootleg. And per your suggestion, all the pages have been renamed "Disney's Aladdin". --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 20:25, 4 August 2016 (EDT)

Problem uploading large files

Hello! I'm trying to upload an archive containing unused voices for this game. However, the upload process times out halfway. The file is around 18MB, but it still times out if I try a 6MB subset. I would upload the clips individually, but there's around 450 clips and all of them are related to an unused desktop widget. It there a way around the timeout issue? Or would you recommend I create multiple archives, one for each character? Thanks.Arsym (talk) 18:28, 15 September 2016 (EDT)

I suggest you create multiple archives, one for each character. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 18:29, 15 September 2016 (EDT)

Zoombinis release date

Hi, just wondering where you got the Zoombinis USA release date from? The places I looked at had listed December 1996 as its release date with Europe getting the original release in March 1996. --Kyubey22 (talk) 18:29, 19 October 2016 (EDT)

The first big problem is that this is a game developed in the US. I found a couple of sources that go back to May 1996 and they mention/imply Zoombinis as a new game, like this source. Not to mention that there are several reviews from US publications and customers archived dating back to Summer 1996. Check out this part of the archived Zoombinis website. While it is possible there could be a delay between the US and European releases, it's highly unlikely it would be delayed for that long. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 18:47, 19 October 2016 (EDT)

A question about demo

The recently released Pokemon Sun and Moon demo was data-mined and there was a lot of unused Pokemon found in it. Should there be a page on the demo or not? I wasn't sure since those Pokemon will probably be in the finished game. --WhiteCheddaPichu (talk) 19:57, 21 October 2016 (EDT)

Hold off on making that page. I'd wait until the game is released. As for the Pokemon, they will likely be used in the final game. Considering that the game is in the beta stages right now, it's highly unlikely they'll remove/change any Pokemon (unless there are last minute legal concerns). --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 21:09, 21 October 2016 (EDT)

Hello Diving

I am happy that you're helping me fix the page up a notch, but please don't alter the text anymore, Ok? Anything that's there is 100% proven to be correct. Once again, thank you for your help. It will surely make the page 100x better. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Project Anarchy (talk • contribs)

Translation with external links

Thank you for having interest in my translations. I've almost finished translating "Help:Contents/Creating & Editing Articles", but I couldn't save translation with external links like part 103 and 106(you can easily find as "Untranslated"). I've deleted external links in Korean translations (since I understood that I don't have permission) because readers can access external links with English source. However, this article must show external links as examples. So, could you add translation instead of me or could you grant the permission? I want this article to be translated more perfectly. Blown Away

Hello Divingkataetheweirdo,

I am new to this Wiki and created the Wiki page Blown Away. I want to thank you for your feedback and editing of my pages/files.

The game Blown Away has 23 unused sounds and 254 unused graphics.

The sounds are rather small files, about 70 KB per sound, in WAVE format. I would probably convert them to MP3 though, so they are even smaller then. My question is if I can/should upload all 23 sounds.

For the graphics, I guess 254 graphics to upload (resolution 640x480) are too much and require too much disk space, or what do you think? Or should I only upload pictures which I think are "highlights" or something special? Also, since they are game graphics, should I save them to PNG or JPEG?

--Daniel-marschall (talk) 07:33, 20 November 2016 (EST)

The media player only support OGG files. I can convert the WAV files to OGG for you. As for the graphics, you should save them as PNGs. In most cases, especially ripped graphics that weren't JPEGs in the game's data, we encourage you to use PNGs.--From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 16:54, 20 November 2016 (EST)

DOS games Synthesizer music

Al-Qadim: The Genie's Curse uses what I think is Soundblaster music in versions 1.0 and 1.1. It seems 1.1 supports midi/synthesizer music. I had to install VirtualMidiSynth with "arachno soundfont.sf2", and now I'm wondering is this official music or - in a way - fanmade music? Can I put it on the wiki? Here is a Youtube video of the game's soundtrack in midi.--Mugg1991 (talk) 04:33, 8 March 2017 (EST)

1.1 definitely added MIDI support, while your 1.0 sounds like AdLib/SoundBlaster music. I don't know enough about this game in particular, but I'd be on the hesitant side here and say that is an official soundtrack, but with an unofficial soundfont. I'd say the game was composed with an SC-55 or something similar. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 04:37, 8 March 2017 (EST)
Thanks for this info. Yes, this is what I meant by "fanmade". I have the .ogg of the midi track ready (so I could compare v1.0 soundblaster, v1.1 soundblaster, v1.1 midi), but won't upload it until you give me green light. We could also put a note that the soundfont used is unofficial.--Mugg1991 (talk) 04:48, 8 March 2017 (EST)
I'd say to do the SoundBlast comparisons, but the MIDI stuff? I'd definitely make note of it, but wouldn't upload tracks just for it. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 04:52, 8 March 2017 (EST)

Suggestion for Regional Differences part for Common Things Section

Hi, Diving. I thought that it would be a good idea under regional difference for the common things section to mention how for most Playstation games in the Japanese version you press "O" to confirm and "X" to cancel, and for the international versions it`s vice versa. That way we don`t have to keep mentioning it. Mr. Kite (talk) 09:40, 11 March 2017 (EST)

Added that. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 17:13, 11 March 2017 (EST)

About model viewer tags

You changed the UE Viewer to simply Editor, I thought we had to write the name of the editor, so I'm a bit confused by your change.

If you want to help me I've made this file for debugging purposes on the harry potter pc games: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8meVkKTbEPGeU9oSHdsZEhKakU

If you simply want my research on the models, here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8meVkKTbEPGcnMtWndiUkpMSzg

I changed the UE Viewer tags to Editor on purpose. There's no tag for any specific editor on this wiki, including UE Viewer. You just use Editor regardless of what type of editor/viewer/tool you used to view that model. You don't need to specify which editor you used in the tag. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 17:16, 21 March 2017 (EDT)

Wav to Ogg conversion/ different region subpage

I have a bunch of unused voice clips from the french version of harry potter 1 on pc, but Ehm told me that creating another subpage would be better. I don't really know how to get it started, so I'm asking if you have any tips on how to build a page. The clips are also in wav format. I converted a few using a tedious method. Do you have a good converter to recommand? I want to help without making many mistakes like I already did, extra work for you is never fun, sorry if I forget to tag files sometimes... --Ltr121312 (talk) 21:54, 25 March 2017 (EDT)

Apparently, you can use LameXP for this. I haven't tried this out myself and I usually use Audacity for wav->ogg conversion, as I usually do one file at a time.--From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 21:56, 25 March 2017 (EDT)
I was asking this because Audacity doesn't seem to like these files. I'll try LameXP, thanks. So should we create a subpage about the french unused audio files? --Ltr121312 (talk) 22:49, 25 March 2017 (EDT)
If they're all similar to the English clips, I'd say just make a note of it in the article. It depends on how many audio clips are left unused in the French release. However, if the article is tagged for translation, I'd be tempted to include the French voice clips along with the English clips for the French translation. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 22:55, 25 March 2017 (EDT)
Some are a bit different, like professor dumbledore instead of dumbledore (and mixing up hermione and hedwig apparently?), but they're pretty much the same. I've already uploaded a few on the subpage yesterday, should I continue all the way or remove them? --Ltr121312 (talk) 23:06, 25 March 2017 (EDT)
If all of them are pretty much the same, I'd say don't bother for the English article. It might be worth putting them in the French article. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 23:12, 25 March 2017 (EDT)

Question

So, I'm probably missing something obvious, but is there any reason all info on the Tetris prototype was completely removed from the wiki? Binarystep (talk) 21:07, 19 May 2017 (EDT)

It was removed because it turns out it was a hoax. A rather lazy hoax at that. The PRG was byte-by-byte identical to the final version except for one string (changing "LICENSED BY MIRRORSOFT LTD." to "LICENSED BY NINTENDO") and the edits done to the CHR portion (the removal of "Tengen Presents" and and the blanking of block tile art) could have been easily made by anyone with a hex editor and a title editor. Not to mention goldstripe appears to be a troll, which is something no one was aware of when the prototype was presented to us. The removal of "Tengen Presents" is also suspect, considering that no other prototype known for the game is missing that. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 22:23, 19 May 2017 (EDT)

Got a wrong undo by someone

I added PS3 and Xbox360 to the bob and series page of Portal and Portal 2. Upon saving and coming back later i see it got a undo without any comment on why. I have checked and both games have been released on PS3 and Xbox360 and i do not want to start a edit wars. I am still noobish to this and would appreciate some help. --LuigiHarrisMario (talk) 17:11, 11 June 2017 (EDT)

Because no one has looked inside the PS3 and XBox 360 releases for Portal and Portal 2. As a result, they largely focus on the Windows/Mac/Linux releases. Once someone does confirm everything is inside the PS3 and XBox 360 versions, we'll put those platforms back in. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 17:21, 11 June 2017 (EDT)

MAME Graphic Rips

Hey, I found a couple of graphics in a MAME ROM, and I would like to know how to rip it. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Sultanofswag89 (talk • contribs)

'low quality image'

On the Wii article. It wasn't my own image and I currently don't know how to trigger the screen in question. That is literally the only image of it known to exist. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Kelton2 (talk • contribs)

Put in a Wii disc with invalid data in the header on boot-up but with a correct ID. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 17:45, 23 June 2017 (EDT)

Just wanted to say thanks for everything!

Hello there. I want to say thank you for everything! I'm sorry If my grammar is bad :P,

"Namespace changed from the definition" alert

Hello, I changed the page display title of Help:Contents/ko because I mistranslated it as "Help:Contents(도움말:컨텐츠)" instead of "도움말:컨텐츠". However, after I saved it, "Namespace changed from the definition" alert with flag-shaped icon appeared and this part is now displayed as "Untranslated". Maybe the alert appears because the namespace was changed("Help" -> "도움말"), but I can't resolve this. Is it OK to keep my change, or should I revert this?--Inetidkm (talk) 12:13, 13 July 2017 (EDT)

I changed 도움말 to Help. 도움말 isn't a defined namespace here. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 17:00, 13 July 2017 (EDT)
Hmm.. okay.. but, there were no problems when I translated namespaces into such as "도움말", "틀", "버그", "프로토타입", and "발매전정보" which aren't defined. For example, Help:Contents/Getting_Started/ko and Template:Bob/ko keep their Korean namespaces. May I know why?--Inetidkm (talk) 20:19, 13 July 2017 (EDT)
It has something to do with Help:Contents itself. Probably. I'm honestly not sure myself.--From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 23:40, 13 July 2017 (EDT)
Thank you. Until the problem has resolved, it might be the only way to remain the namespace.--Inetidkm (talk) 04:20, 14 July 2017 (EDT)

Banned from IRC

I tried to log into the IRC and it says I'm banned, is this a bug or have I actually been banned? Smoke (talk) 11:35, 19 July 2017 (EDT)

Hi Smoke, we had a troublemaker connecting from KiwiIRC earlier today and I had banned the whole client. Should be working now! --Sanky-sig.gif Sanky ~ talk 11:45, 19 July 2017 (EDT)

Translation "comments"

I have a question about the translation "comments" (e.g. <!--T:123-->). Are they simply there to split up the page into pieces for easier translation, so if you add a new paragraph or section you should add a new "comment"? --Hiccup (talk) 15:39, 30 July 2017 (EDT)

These are placed by the translation plugin to mark sections to translate. You add a new paragraph, but it would be if you created a new comment and made sure that uses a number not used already. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 16:13, 30 July 2017 (EDT)
I don't really understand. For now I haven't added one. --Hiccup (talk) 11:18, 31 July 2017 (EDT)
When a page is marked for translation, those "comments" are inserted automatically by the plugin. Any modification by users makes them liable for any stuff-ups caused. -Einstein95 (talk) 11:21, 31 July 2017 (EDT)
Okay. That makes it simpler. --Hiccup (talk) 11:46, 31 July 2017 (EDT)

Sorry about the SMW prerelease file

Should have done it in the other order :P --Hiccup (talk) 16:32, 8 August 2017 (EDT)

Desc. edits Responses

Actually im just getting started here, but im sorry if i ruined an article, but i tried, i will try to do better. --Josesito8 (talk) 10:39, 8 August 2017 (GMT-7)
That's OK. I'd like to see you do something other than low-effort description edits though, just be careful not to break anything. Also, try improving your grammar a little bit. (i.e. im just getting started here -> I'm just getting started here) --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 02:38, 9 August 2017 (EDT)
