Uploading a new version of a file will usually work the first time. If it doesn't seem to appear, don't upload several versions of the same image. Just wait a minute and refresh the page. The new version will appear. -AquaBat (talk) 17:56, 23 August 2014 (EDT)

Adding Systems to Bobs

Don't add consoles to a game's bob unless you are absolutely sure the same unused content exists in those versions as well, and DEFINITELY don't add them to articles that specifically say which system they're for in the title. --BMF54123 (talk) 21:43, 31 January 2015 (EST)

Apple IIGS vs. IIgs

Apple has used "Apple IIGS" quite a bit. In fact, these documents use IIGS for the most part. However, there's one document that uses IIgs. So, the confusion is understandable, even if BMF was a little feisty over it. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 15:42, 8 February 2015 (EST)

I was "feisty" for a reason. :| --BMF54123 (talk) 18:49, 8 February 2015 (EST)
The computer itself uses "IIgs" in the BIOS, but "IIɢꜱ" on the case and in a program loader but IIGS in Your Tour of the Apple II(GS|gs). -Einstein95 (talk) 16:05, 8 February 2015 (EST)

Please stop changing TCRF's preferred localization without discussion

It's far from a decided issue that TCRF should use "Eggman" to refer to the character in question across all of the series' history, including the period where "Robotnik" was clearly the name used in the west. TCRF (in English, at least) is a western wiki, not a Japanese one, so it's not correct to assume we should use the Japanese naming regardless of canon. We're currently discussing this amongst the admins to decide whether to proceed or use period-accurate naming. Feel free to leave any articles that have been changed currently, but please don't change any more; we'll decide what to do shortly. Thanks. — Vague / Rant 06:05, 19 October 2016 (EDT)

Gah, fine! I was very ticked off about an article mixing Eggman with Robotnik at the same time, and somehow my power of egg rage went far. Too far. User:Kazblox / User talk:Kazblox 06:13, 19 October 2016 (EDT)

Thanks. We'll keep you up-to-date with where we end up falling on the issue. — Vague / Rant 06:15, 19 October 2016 (EDT)
Breaking news update: TCRF will be preferring period-appropriate western naming of characters, i.e. Robotnik for games when that was his official name in the west, and Eggman in later games. The same can probably be applied in any similar situations encountered on the wiki, but as a general rule large scale changes across many articles should be discussed ahead of time. Thanks again. — Vague / Rant 03:23, 20 October 2016 (EDT)
No offense, but why on earth *should* a wiki that deals with game development oddities use period-appropriate naming of characters rather than game-appropriate naming? The character in question was only called Robotnik in Sonic Spinball, Sonic 3D Blast, and Robotnik's Mean Machine. In Sonic 1, 2, 3, and S&K--the latter three of which are connected by storyline--his in-game name is Eggman: https://i.imgur.com/aSwUOzF.jpg
I mean, TCRF deals with game facts, not manual/localization material, 90's era stuff. It's a weird thing to leave to preference in the first place, especially when there were games where he really was called Robotnik and where he was presumably (and at least implied by Sonic 2 as well as the handful of egg references through the games) to be Eggman. NESter (talk) 03:35, 20 October 2016 (EDT)
In fairness, that's a pretty small detail and virtually the only thing in Sonic 2 that even mentions Eggman. If you like to correct me on this, feel free to make a picture or video compilation of all instances of Eggman mentioned in the games. However, that you prefer Eggman over Robotnik for pre-Sonic Adventures game is also something of a preference. I'd almost want a Original Name/Localized Name deal to prevent confusion. Keep in mind that this isn't just a problem with the Sonic series, but also several other series. Rockman/Megaman would be especially bad in this field. That's not even bringing up the Aeris/Aerith debates. And on a final note, from BMF54123 himself, "In the end, our goal is to document unused stuff, so we really shouldn't spend too much time worrying about the "correct" name for something as long as everything is consistent." --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 03:56, 20 October 2016 (EDT)
Re: Rockman/Megaman, I'd agree if it weren't for the fact that his in-game name was localized as Megaman every time. Whereas in the non-western, mainline Sonic games leading up to Sonic Adventure, Robotnik's name was never was shown in-game except for in Wing Fortress Zone... as Eggman. Anyway, I'd propose that Robotnik be used for articles of games where Robotnik is used and Eggman for games where Eggman is used, but this seems to be such an oddly contentious issue with people who grew up hearing "Robotnik" that I don't think I'll change anyone's mind. I myself grew up in the Genesis era but have no particular affinity for either name--I'm just pedantic enough to argue the case for Eggman simply because it appeared in a mainline Sonic game long before Sonic Adventure. :) NESter (talk) 04:15, 20 October 2016 (EDT)
Your proposal is noted, but the decision has already been made. We understand your position, but even if nothing else, using the standard of preferring characters' names used explicitly in-game, Eggman is clearly wrong in all of the games where neither name is used at all. Should he just be "the villain" in those games? TCRF uses a vast amount of information not obtained directly in-game. Box art, manuals, all kinds of things. I would hold that the admins have greater perspective here, and perhaps more importantly, the right to make decisions about how their wiki is edited. Thanks for your interest. — Vague / Rant 04:23, 20 October 2016 (EDT)
I'd just like to pitch in and say I'm sorry for using "Eggman" rather than "Robotnik" and sparking this whole debate. I don't have preference for either name, I just failed to realize "Robotnik" was already used elsewhere on the wiki (and specifically in the very article I edited, yikes). Proto graphics

A little over a week ago you put some graphics of a proto on IRC, and I did assemble a bunch at the time but then forgot to tell you. Here they are. --BatElite (talk) 04:10, 13 July 2017 (EDT)
