Captions

We have a rule against editing articles just to add "witty" image captions. Please follow it. --BMF54123 14:46, 15 February 2012 (EST)

Sorry. I'm not that good at hacking, and I wanted to contribute. Perhaps I should probably create an article, then add some witty captions. (In fact, I plan on adding more Humongous Entertainment games). --SpongeBat1 14:50, 15 February 2012 (EST)

Caption-Related Query

After reading your guidelines, I think I now know about the caption rules. From what I've read, I've found that:

  • I can add a funny caption if I was the one who uploaded the image.
  • I can add a funny caption when creating a page.
  • I can't get around having my captions deleted just because I added other important things.

If I'm wrong please alert me. Also, would I be allowed add funny captions to the Dancing Zombie pictures on the Plants vs. Zombies page? After all, I created the article and uploaded the pictures. Also, how do I upload audio files? Is it the same as uploading images?

--SpongeBat1 15:57, 16 February 2012 (EST)

I'll let an admin comment on the funny captions thing, but yes, you upload audio (converted to .ogg) just ilke you upload image, with the {{soundfile}} caption, and include it with [[File:Audio.ogg]]. - Andlabs 16:11, 16 February 2012 (EST)
I apologize for coming across as harsh. But we've had a surprising problem with people whose only "contributions" are adding captions to images. It's not really a contribution, either, as it's not actually improving articles. I see you're trying to actively contribute now, so that's a step in the right directions. Yes, you're free to add captions to your own articles, or images you specifically include. However, this should not either be a deterrent from editing other pages, nor an incentive to create your own. If you wish to contribute, it should be because you have legitimate info on unused content, debug modes, etc. and not just "I want to be funny". Since you bothered to read the guidelines and check rules with us, I see you have potential to be a good editor. Just keep in mind what you've been told. -YK YK-sig.png 16:15, 16 February 2012 (EST)

Image categorization

When you upload an image, please remember to put an auto-categorization template in the upload summary, as this automatically puts it in a neat little category -- something which someone will, otherwise, have to come along and do later. Also, there's a bot in the TCRF IRC channel that automatically reports edits and file uploads, but if a file is categorized properly when uploaded, it isn't displayed there. Uploading lots of uncategorized files can quickly end up flooding the channel, as a result. See the Image Guidelines page for how to auto-categorize an image. -YK YK-sig.png 21:54, 21 March 2012 (EDT)

Image quality

I'm curious as to how you take screenshots. The screenshots you uploaded recently were in the correct file format, but they had the incorrect resolution (they should be at the game's native resolution (384 x 224)) and were filtered (It's looks like you had some sort off TV filter on them - this looks really nasty and it makes the images darker than they should be). --From: divingkataetheweirdo 12:32, 22 March 2012 (EDT)

I use the Prnt Scrn key to take most of my screenshots. Some of the emulators I use have options to take screenshots, but I don't know where the screenshots are saved to, and I'm not sure they worked. As for image quality, I try to make it look nice. The Marvel Super Heroes screenshots are filtered because I use WinKawaks. I could use MAME, but I don't know how to use cheats on MAME, and I needed the cheat feature on Kawaks to get evidence of Anita. Oh, well. At least I know to crop out the window bar and taskbar! --SpongeBat1 12:38, 22 March 2012 (EDT)

Granted, I can see why you did it, but using filters for screenshots generally goes against out guidelines. Also, you can simply press 'Control + P and the screenshot will be found in the "capture" folder (unless that produces a .jpeg or something - in that case, don't use it for this wiki). --From: divingkataetheweirdo 12:57, 22 March 2012 (EDT)
I know filters aren't allowed. I even read the guidelines. WinKawaks always looks like it has some filter turned on and I don't know how to turn it off. It looks like it has a TV filter all the time. Also, thank you for the advice.

--SpongeBat1 13:02, 22 March 2012 (EDT)

Wait, a filter is permanently turned on? That is just weird. I'd think that program would have some sort of option to turn it off through an .ini file or something. Speaking of Mame, Someone on YT made a tutorial for making MAME cheats. --From: divingkataetheweirdo 13:10, 22 March 2012 (EDT)

BMF54123 hurt me... in a good way

I feel like a horrible pervert now. I... I'm just gonna'... not do anything. For a while. --SpongeBat1 15:48, 29 March 2012 (EDT)

See you later. Try to steer clear of YouTube poop and stupid memes while you're gone. --BMF54123 17:38, 29 March 2012 (EDT)
Yeah, I probably won't. I'll try to keep it off of here, though. --SpongeBat1 19:44, 29 March 2012 (EDT)

Beta vs. Prototype

In accordance with our guidelines, please refrain from using the term "beta" to refer to early game content. Use "early" or "prototype" instead. --BMF54123 14:15, 30 March 2012 (EDT)

Oh, okay. I wanted to use "prototype", but the prototype for ClayFighter 63⅓ is called the "beta" in several places, so I kind of gave into peer pressure. Also, why do you not like YouTube Poop? I understand how I'm a horrible person for making an AIDS joke, but how am I a horrible person for referencing YouTube Poop?

--SpongeBat1 15:50, 30 March 2012 (EDT)

In my opinion, YouTube poop is incredibly juvenile and unfunny. It's the same stupid jokes and memes rehashed over and over and over again by people with amazingly low IQs, and I'm sick and tired of seeing it everywhere. Does that answer your question? --BMF54123 15:57, 30 March 2012 (EDT)
I'm sensing the other admins are also not particularly fond of memes, especially since we've had problems with people doing nothing but inserting poor humor into other peoples's articles early on. - Andlabs 15:58, 30 March 2012 (EDT)
Okay... Ah, well. Everybody has opinions. I respect your opinion, because it is the nice thing to do, and I especially don't want to get into an argument with an admin. Although I both agree and disagree with your opinion. I like YouTube Poops, but I do think that a lot of them are a bit repetitive and that whoever is making them has no real life outside it nor do they have any chance of succeeding in life (with the exception of WalrusGuy). Now, I'm off to fight angry trolls while protecting colorful citizens of the equestrian variety.

--SpongeBat1 18:59, 30 March 2012 (EDT)

Nixon's BAAAAAAAAACK!

I'm back, floor cutters! Sorry if I overreacted. I'll try to have better control over my emotions next time, because I was SO BORED without this wiki! This is the longest I've ever been banned from anything! Thank God it's over! --SpongeBat1 20:40, 8 June 2012 (EDT)

Memes

You've been told several times to knock off the stupid memes, and yet you continue to ignore us. Do not edit an article unless you have useful information to add. This is your final warning. --BMF54123 17:54, 13 June 2012 (EDT)

Yes, I agree that my edits have been getting a bit out of hand. I'm too lazy to add info myself (either because I don't have the time/skill/ambition to find stuff out, or because a game I want to put on here has no obvious unused content.) From now on, I shall only mention memes if a game has unused content that directly references a meme, or if we're talking about Zero Wing. Now, I'm off to... do... things... elsewhere. --SpongeBat1 12:07, 15 June 2012 (EDT)

No. No, you will not. Why is this so hard for you to understand? You will add no more memes or meme-related bullcrap to this wiki, or I swear to God I will permaban you. If this means you have nothing to contribute, well, so be it. --BMF54123 18:43, 15 June 2012 (EDT)

Okay, fine! JUST LEAVE ME ALONE! LEAVE ME ALONE! I'M SERIOUS! Yeah, I referenced Chris Crocker. So? --SpongeBat1 20:37, 15 June 2012 (EDT)

I am an administrator and co-owner of this wiki. I will LEAVE YOU ALONE only when I'm convinced that you understand the rules, and are taking what I have to say seriously. Shape up and stop acting like a spoiled child every time we call you out for ignoring the rules, understand? --BMF54123 21:06, 15 June 2012 (EDT)
Okay. I'll stop with the memes. I'll stop acting like a little douchebag (pardon my French). I'll contribute when appropriate. And did I mention that I'm 14 years old and have Autism? That's probably part of my problem. (I'm not spoiled, though. If I was, I'd probably act like Eric Cartman on a regular basis.) On that note, I must avenge Kenny's death!

9,999.5 apologies, --SpongeBat1 21:37, 15 June 2012 (EDT)

JPEG Images

JPEGs are not allowed on this wiki due to quality concerns. Please recapture and reupload your JPEGs as PNGs. You also need to be tagging your images with appropriate templates. Please read the image guidelines for more information. --BMF54123 15:58, 3 July 2012 (EDT)

I know that. However, I had temporarily forgotten. You see, I had gotten those images off The Mushroom Kingdom, and I only just remembered that JPEGs weren't allowed after uploading a few of them. This is why most of my uploaded images are pictures I take myself. I also forgot about the image categorization. I suddenly remembered it after uploading those SMK graphics. (Also from The Mushroom Kingdom.) --SpongeBat1 16:02, 3 July 2012 (EDT)

When BMF says to recapture images, he doesn't mean to re-save .jpegs as .pngs, as you've done with two images. He means to capture these images with something like Snipping Tool or using the Print Screen Key, coping it into a program (even MS Paint suffices for me), and saving it as a .png. Make sure you've cropped the images properly, too. Also, make sure you have the native resolution on (MK64 uses 320*240, not 640*480). --From: divingkataetheweirdo 22:16, 7 July 2012 (EDT)

Actually, I didn't quite do that. I copied the two images and pasted them into Paint. It was too hard trying to recapture them. (Yoshi's Valley is evil!) I also fail at resolution stuff. Will I ever learn? Probably not. --SpongeBat1

Does This Count?

Hey guys. I recently discovered that Pajama Sam's Sock Works has a "Bad Level" that loads when a level fails to load. Would this be something to document, since it kind of functions as a crash handler? Just checking to make sure. --SpongeBat1 16:35, 16 September 2012 (EDT)

Multiple File Uploads

When uploading a large number of files, could you please use the multiple upload page so you don't overflow the recent changes log? --BMF54123 20:06, 6 July 2013 (EDT)

Huh. I didn't know we had that. I'll keep that in mind. --SpongeBat1 20:09, 6 July 2013 (EDT)
