Dude, you don't have to worry. It's OK to still be learning, everyone messes up now and then! Plus, you were perfectly sweet in response to people's comments, and eager to fix your mistakes. You're exactly the type of person we want on the wiki. <3 --GlitterBerri (talk) 00:54, 3 May 2017 (EDT)

Wii U title screenshots

How did you capture your Wii U title screenshots? Most screenshots on TCRF are (unfortunatly) done in a somewhat lossy way (HDMI capture, official JPEG screenshot tool, Cemu screenshot), but if yours are lossless framebuffer captures on real hardware, then that should be noted on the page (so people know that the images don't need to be replaced). --Hiccup (talk) 12:37, 2 February 2021 (UTC)

They are Cemu screenshots, but I am pixel peeping each one for differences between them and the real hardware and for the ones I replaced I see no issues between cemu and the direct image I have on hardware. I even cleared this with a moderator of the site beforehand. If you have a way yourself of doing framebuffer captures from the Wii U in a way that is non-lossy I would be happy to run through and redo all the images I've just done, but honestly I think they're fine as is. -- Luna (talk) 04:24, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
Okay, no problem. --Hiccup (talk) 14:42, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
Does CEMU take actual framebuffer images? For example, some games might be 1080x1920 on the title screen, but during gameplay the resolution might drop to 900p. Does Cemu take the screenshots in the native resolution or does it force all images to be 1080p?ReyVGM (talk) 14:51, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
I don't know the answer to this, but they at least look sharper than the JPG/HDMI captures. When Maschell's screenshot plugin gets PNG support, then we'll finally have a "proper" way to take screenshots like on the 3DS. --Hiccup (talk) 22:05, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
AFAIK it does, but I'm very much unable to confirm. Like I said and like Hiccup said as well, when the screenshot plugin gets PNG support I'd be more then happy to redo all the screens I can with it. -- Luna (talk) 00:31, 4 February 2021 (UTC)

Translation Request

Would you be comfortable translating MediaWiki:Questycaptcha-createaccount at some point to allow users to know how to join the site? --Hawk (talk) 18:43, 20 May 2021 (UTC)

I'd be happy to do so, but that page seems broken on my end so I'm unsure how to proceed... Is that page supposed to generate an actual code or is that just where it pulls the text before the code from? -- Luna (talk) 21:12, 20 May 2021 (UTC)
That works, thank you. The text now appears here in Polish when you don't have an account (can be seen in incognito mode). --Hawk (talk) 21:30, 20 May 2021 (UTC)
Ah, I see! You're welcome! -- Luna (talk) 21:45, 20 May 2021 (UTC)

Use the PREVIEW button

You are making a lot of small edits in quick succession and that floods the "recent changes" page. Please use the PREVIEW button to see your changes and continue your edits before saving the edit. ReyVGM (talk) 01:22, 29 June 2021 (UTC)

When doing translations of pages each section marked in the page is considered it's own page, so every time I add a translated section it send out two contributions: one for the edit to the page with just that translated section, and one for the update to the main page. It's not something within my control, unfortunately. As for regular page edits, I think I've been pretty good about this? Sometimes I can't preview the edits since they call on templates that break within the preview of the editor. -- Luna (talk) 01:26, 29 June 2021 (UTC)

hi

sorry. i was moving stuff around and adding a brand new section and i had never done that on a page with translation markers before. Zoinknoise (talk) 05:35, 11 July 2021 (UTC)

Hey, no problem, not mad or anything, just letting you know for the future! -- Luna (talk) 07:48, 11 July 2021 (UTC)

Wii Music's Banner Regional Difference

Just a curiosity.

In the banner of the Japanese version of Wii Music, the copyright appears to be in a white color and for the most part, make it so hard to see. (video) --ScotttheAnimator1979 (talk) 01:14, 25 January 2022 (UTC)

If you're asking me if that's something to document on the wiki, I would believe not. It's still readable and while the design choice may be a bit odd, it's not odd enough IMO to be considered an "oddity". -- Luna (talk) 04:54, 25 January 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for the Tips!

Hey there. Thank you so much for the tips and for correcting my stuff. I apologize if this was an inconvenience for you but I'm still new to this whole thing. Also i do think ND is actually a sequel to Far Cry 5. - Earnirplaygames (talk) 07:50, 24 February 2022 (UTC)

Hey, no problem! I know I had to learn all this in the past when I first joined the site, and appreciated the people who were nice to me while explaining what I could be doing better, and I'm happy to try and be that person for someone else! Also yeah, I just said "or whatever" about Far Cry cause I don't follow the series very well so I wasn't aware if it was something like a weird half-new game expansion like I've seen with some games or if it was actually a standalone release. - Luna (talk) 16:55, 24 February 2022 (UTC)

Question about pages being marked for translation

Hi, kinda need some little info from an expert like you about full pages being marked for potential translations. From what I understand so far, the only ones able to do that are the administrators, so we have to ask one of the 16 admins to mark a page for translation everytime we need it, right? (I've seen a few messages in discussions that did just that.) Sorry to bother you for such a little thing, but I have to check because I kinda feel bad asking over and over "can you mark this page, and can you mark that page, and now can you mark that page too?" as days go by...

Can I ask any admin or are GlitterBerri and CounterDiving (the two that are mentionned in the "Translation Rules" page) the ones that specifically take care of translation stuff? Do you have any particular advice about who's best to contact for marking pages for translation?

I've seen so many pages that have tags for translations but are still not marked for translation in the "Special: Page Translation" section, they are listed as "Pages proposed for translation". Maybe this is what I'm supposed to do instead of asking admins? Do I have to put the translation tags in articles I'm interested in so that they become part of that long list of "pages proposed" and then wait? --Cold Skin (talk) 00:40, 28 February 2022 (UTC)

Generally the way it's done is if you have a specific want to translate a particular page, you can ask one of the mods to mark it for translation. This requires adding the various section markers and everything else, and then some weird thing on the backend only mods can do to finalize it being marked. Generally, it seems the idea is not to add tags unless you're the one also preparing the page to be marked and can mark it in the backend to become active (and there's a lot of weird pitfalls in marking things for translation with the section markers, they can cause weird spacing issues and a whole bunch of other stuff). Generally the way I've done it is just ask a mod if they can mark a page, they usually get around to it. I've tended to ask User:Hawk or User:counterDiving before, GlitterBerri is a little less active then they used to be. -- Luna (talk) 00:48, 28 February 2022 (UTC)
Alright, thanks a lot for your help, now I can get to it! :-) --Cold Skin (talk) 15:14, 28 February 2022 (UTC)

Translation tool not always adapting to changes?

Hi again, I was translating two Alex Kidd articles and out of sheer luck, I noticed something: the translation segments that were displayed for me in the translation tool seemed out of date, having been changed or expended upon in the actual English version of the article compared to what the translation segments showed me. I managed to have an up-to-date translation by copying the differences straight from the English version rather than counting on the segments, but I thought the segments were supposed to automatically adapt to changes, even signaling that some parts of previously done translations might be outdated?

You can check it for yourself with this article: Alex Kidd in The Enchanted Castle. The English version reads the intro as "Alex Kidd's first and only foray onto the Genesis." yet the translation tool - for any language available - give people the job of translating "Sega's last attempt at Alex Kidd before moving onto a new and better IP". And in the two last sections, half of the information that has been added and modified in the English article is missing in the translation segments given to the translators, making all other localized versions that blindly trusted the translation tool likely incomplete.

Is it normal? Does the translation tool ask people to translate text that was actually changed long ago sometimes? Is it recommanded to always go back and forth to the actual English article due to the translation tool segments not always being linked to the current version? --Cold Skin (talk) 23:19, 28 February 2022 (UTC)

It happens because the page was last marked a long time ago for translation. The way marking pages for translation works is that when a page gets marked, that page, in the form it's in in that point in time, gets frozen, and is what is used in the translation tool. To remedy this, you'd want to ask one of the mods/admins that does page translation marking to update the marked version, which will make the translation tool show the new edits (until new ones are made to the page after it's marked, in which case after enough edits the cycle of asking for it to be re-marked would repeat). The reasoning for such seems to be that it's not expected of a regular user or even a translator to exactly know how to mark the new sections in the page for translation in the tool, so it's left as "admins mark a version of the page, when it needs updating they do such again". Do note, when the page gets remarked, it'll highlight the sections that have been updated in the new marked version in red, and say they're "outdated", but if you had done the translation based on the new version of the page, you can just re-submit your changes. -- Luna (talk) 23:30, 28 February 2022 (UTC)
Alright, I understand now, I had mistakenly assumed that once they were marked even once, the translation tool would keep track of any edit made in the original and trigger the "some parts are outdated" signal and adapt the segments. So I'll keep quickly checking the English article itself when I create a translation, to see if something was edited here and there since the marking process and show it my French version, just like I've done. I like the idea that the French pages I create are up to date (at least at the time that I'm creating them). As always, thanks for the answers, it's very nice to have someone as dedicated as you to give a little bit of help with the whole system, so that we know about the tips and tricks! :-) --Cold Skin (talk) 12:50, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
No problem! I'm happy to try and help. I do want to note, it's preferred if you encounter a very out-of-date marked page vs the existing latest English page that you ask it to be marked, instead of just manually doing the newest version of the page; It allows the translators of other languages to also get marked as out of date and let translators of those languages know to update things. -- Luna (talk) 16:24, 1 March 2022 (UTC)

Rhythm Thief Regional Differences

Hi, let me explain. There are regional differences in Rhythm Thief and the Emperor's Treasure. not Paris Caper. In the Japanese version, There was an exclusive opening movie featuring the song Clair de Lune by singer-songwriter named miwa, playing in the background. There are also differences at the end of the game, The opening song is credited, and the ending theme is Story by Ai Carina Uemura. Once the staff roll is finished, and the game is saved and restarted, the opening and ending themes will be unlocked in the sound disks. In the other versions, the opening movie and song were removed and, due to copyright reasons, the ending song was changed to I say goodbye by Kahimi Karie.

Clair de Lune and Story will not be unlocked at the end of the game, I say goodbye will instead be unlocked.

One more thing, The differences with the Sega logo, and the FBI-like warning screen are actually common things.

I have sources to identify: Opening Video (JPN only, removed in other versions): https://youtu.be/arJ3gv07rlo?list=PLY1fmxMGku4BYmjWc2t6IxX-YrtlVF4Th&t=14 Ending Theme (JPN): https://youtu.be/qDu4E9z82Ac?list=PLY1fmxMGku4BYmjWc2t6IxX-YrtlVF4Th&t=1608 Ending Theme: (Other Versions): https://youtu.be/BxOFS1kySNA?list=PLO1GdexxkaBWLXmTMBEcp4-mVROskBPlX&t=444

Thanks. --PCSX2-chan (talk) 11:22, 8 February 2023 (UTC)

Interesting information, but I'm unsure why you're messaging me about this; I've never edited the page for this game past adding a title screen. Are you sure you sent this to the right person? -- Luna (talk) 02:59, 10 February 2023 (UTC)
Yes. right person. You don't need to upload images of regional differences and edit the page for this. I'll edit the page when i have time. --PCSX2-chan (talk) 14:59, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
