DOOM 1/2 Scanned Images Tags
I need to ask something. I looked at my watchlist page and I noticed that 4 days ago you changed the:
This is a scanned image for a(n) PC game.
tags to:
This is a scanned image for a(n) Windows game.
tags. Is there any reason why the change was necessary? Doom 1 and 2 were built for MS DOS upon their original releases, and were never rereleased on Windows until DOOM 3 BFG edition and until 2019 when they were officially rereleased, but even then it's just a source port made by Bethesda and not a faithful remake. The games' pages on the site is just meant for the original DOS versions on PC, so why were the tags changed? Doom 1 was going to have a PC release, but it never was publicly released. --INFAMOUS (Talk) 00:32, 18 June 2023 (UTC)
- "PC" isn't used as a console name for category tags anymore; you're supposed to specify whether it's DOS or Windows instead. If I should've recategorized them into DOS instead of into Windows then that aspect of it's my mistake, though, sorry! --Zyxyz (talk) 03:45, 18 June 2023 (UTC)
Can I change it to a regular article now?
so I added some unused stuff (not a lot but still) so i'm wondering can I now make it a regular article and not a sub one now? Gggoldgamer (talk) 03:06, 27 February 2024 (UTC)

I've noticed you've used imgur for replacing Discord links. When replacing Discord images, always use archive.is or archive.org to save the images and then link to the direct images on either site. Imgur in particular has a ugly habit of redirecting and killing old links which prove very cumbersome for those that use older browsers. That creates a ugly feedback loop of replacing the links and moving the images again and again, or appending other nonsense to the URL just to get it working; a phenomenon I've personally dubbed "poopgobbler code".

- Unfortunately neither of those sites work for archiving Discord links (just checked), so you'll just have to put up with imgur for now for lack of a better alternative. --Zyxyz (talk) 22:55, 30 June 2024 (UTC)
- Have used it before here... Chimes (talk) 03:59, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
- I've never had an issue with archiving discord links on web.archive.org/archive.is/ghostachive.org (esp. if done via archivebot for web.archive.org). BTW, I think we should probably just upload these files straight to TCRF, or maybe as archive.org items - imgur has aggressive inactive image removal policies and isn't friendly to archive sites. Also, do you have local copies of the files you've been dealing with? Just wondering how you've been going about this. --Hiccup (talk) 16:26, 1 July 2024 (UTC)

why did you remove my contributions for the spore wiki as "unfounded speculations"?
if you've played spore before you would've agreed with my edit, the red maple leaf is the same as the flora icon from the flora planets and the fork sign has a tiny down arrow, literally super obvious it is for low food income — The preceding unsigned comment was added by YummyzBoi (talk • contribs)
- Wasn't aware of that re: the maple leaf (it's been a while since I've played Spore as it doesn't work on newer Macs), will add that one back in with a bit of grammar fixup. As for the fork sign, I don't see any arrow on it?? And even if there was, that's hardly "super obvious" given the lack of context? At any rate, taking such a hostile tone here and in the edit summary doesn't exactly help your case ngl :/ --Zyxyz (talk) 06:35, 18 October 2024 (UTC)
