Debug Mode

See? Pigs CAN fly!

At the title screen, press A, A, A, X, X, B, B, Y. A sound will confirm correct entry, and the following functions will be available on controller 2 during gameplay:

  • Start: Skip to the next area of the current stage (or the stage's ending if in the last area).
  • L+Y: Enables a combination free-movement mode and coordinate display. The D-Pad on controller 1 moves Bart around, and the D-Pad on controller 2 moves the coordinate display around. Note that this only works in the game's platforming stages (Baby, Dino, and Pig).

Unused Sounds

Bart

Audio Subtitle Usage
No line! It was used in the Genesis version in the water slide intro, but in the SNES version he just says "Aw man."

Homer

Audio Subtitle Usage
Ooh, virtual reality! It was meant for the ending. The "Ooh!" part is used, but the rest isn't.
How many times have I- Unknown.

Random Strings

At 0xDCAF is a list of random strings. It goes from Bart names, to items, to audio settings, to difficulty settings, to bonuses. The strings “PORKBART” and “DINOBART” seem to refer to the pig and dinosaur levels in the game, but "MALLBART" and "SPACBART" stand out as they may refer to scrapped mall and space levels. Also, some of the supposed item strings seem to be holdovers from past Simpsons games.
