Once upon a time, there lived ten witches
But one fateful day, nine became wicked witches
You, the youngest, must confront the witches
To know what is behind the audacity of these witches

Cheat Password

Entering the password KATARINA displays the message "Katka is WONDERFUL" on the screen. This is the "cheat password" mentioned in hints.txt; when playing a level, the player cannot take damage, even with insta-kill objects such as spikes.

Revisional Differences

Three versions are listed on the game's changes.txt file: v1.0, v1.1 and v1.2. However, only the latter two are known to have been preserved.

v1.0

The game's original release.

v1.1

Released sometime on April 2000. According to changes.txt, these were the changes done in this release:

  • Added three difficulty settings: Easy, Normal and Hard.
    • In Easy, the player can take up to 5 hits.
    • In Normal, the player can take up to 3 hits.
    • In Hard, the player can only take 1 hit. This mode is closer to the gameplay in v1.0.
  • Magic mapping scrolls, which allow the player to view a level's map, were added. These are not present in the Hard difficulty.
  • A checkpoint system was added.
  • Some levels received tweaks in their layouts.
  • Bugfixes.

v1.2

Released sometime on December 2004. The game's license was changed from shareware to freeware, and thus, all of the game's content is accessible by default. One of the graphics displayed in the "About" menu was also appropriately changed:

Level Layout Changes

Careful, you'll lose an eye.
This page or section needs more images.
There's a whole lotta words here, but not enough pictures. Please fix this.

The v1.2 release also had some level layout changes, as seen below:

Level One: The Grasslands
  • The star configuration at certain parts of the level is different.
  • A Blue Ghost near the end of the level was removed.
Level Three: The Frog Witch
  • Some of the red bricks were replaced with empty spaces. However, this change happened in an area that is normally not visible.
Level Eleven: The High Peak
  • One of the tiles near the beginning of the level, which was originally a pillar bottom, was changed to a pillar top.
Level Twenty-six: The Mausoleum
  • There are fewer bricks near the beginning of the level.
