Should this be generalized a slight bit more, so that it can be used on images and other files with 'simple' names that someone else might easily overwrite, rather than just files with 'beta' or 'alpha' in the name (etc.)? (For example, if someone uploads "Unused Song.ogg" or "Unused Image.png," without the game's title somewhere in the filename, and so forth.) --Aoi 20:51, 16 July 2011 (EDT)

I don't think this template is even *necessary*. Only admins can rename images, and doing so would require either changing all the links to these files, or to just leave up redirects with the old file name, where the inaccurate name would still be displayed on the page. Either way, it's a fair bit of work for something that doesn't even matter all that much. -YK YK-sig.png 00:04, 17 July 2011 (EDT)
Purpose in making this template was to provide an easy list of things needing renames. Fair enough that "beta" isn't really worth the effort, but it'd still be nice to use for cleaning up things like, say "unusedroom.png" which are WAY too general. --Afti 03:44, 17 July 2011 (EDT)
Like YK said, only admins can rename files, which is actually a good reason to use the template. A regular user finds a problem with the title, like Aoi exemplified, but cannot change the title. So instead, that user can just write this template so an admin can take care of it. Heck, I used it when I uploaded File:SSBStarstorm.ogg (It was named Startstorm). Given that, it really should be more generalized. {EspyoT} 07:35, 17 July 2011 (EDT)
Hmm- did a minor wording change to make it more general. --Afti 11:17, 17 July 2011 (EDT)
