Rename Request

Catcisprite.png
This suggestion was implemented.

The prefix th185 is ostensibly an internal codename for 100th Black Market that a general audience could not be expected to know, and a quick Google search produces mechanical parts; changing the prefix to the abbreviation of the game's subtitle (100BM) as with previous uploads would be better.

But does anybody read names for these files? (EDIT: yes :skull:) Furthermore the game that this is from is implied by the inclusions of this file, afaik it's (kind of) common for the Touhou fandom to refer to official games by their number too (I guess I can add a dot?)

Well I guess it could be viable to link the origin game in the file description, I'm going to think about this --Dobby233Liu (talk) 13:20, 15 August 2022 (UTC)

If you assume that the general audience will also edit things related to the page, then TH185 would have no meaning to such a person. I know nothing about the Touhou series, and it took until I followed a source from an earlier revision of 100th Black Market and actually inspected the source page that I knew what the alias meant. I certainly wouldn't expect any other potential contributor to learn an esoteric alias when there's already an easier and memorable one. Keeping filenames consistent, relevant, and concise makes an editor's job much easier. 結衣 (talk) 13:28, 15 August 2022 (UTC)
Well, my view is basically narrow and it's hard for me to inspect a problem from that kind of view, and 100BM just feels quite out of place for me personally, like, th185 is just Touhou 18.5, it's not hard to get that from the intro of the article. But all of that aside, this is fair, I'll prepare the renaming --Dobby233Liu (talk) 13:34, 15 August 2022 (UTC)
I recognize that it'll definitely be out-of-place for you since that's what you're accustomed to, and if you truly feel that th185 would be a better identifier, then you can always retract my rename requests and submit your own to the uploads that I have made. I think it would work provided that you notified readers that th185 is a common alias in the header of the article, though in my opinion that is superfluous information; other entries in the series use the same prefix style so you definitely have precedent to keep it as-is. You might have to request a deletion for the redirects you just created though. 結衣 (talk) 13:41, 15 August 2022 (UTC)
Wait other articles did that? Damn --Dobby233Liu (talk) 13:43, 15 August 2022 (UTC)
I defaulted to the naming scheme that I normally use (abbreviating a common title), but what you have would stick to precedent; I'll take standardized over anything else in these situations. It's not too late to roll-back your page moves, but you should do so soon. 結衣 (talk) 13:46, 15 August 2022 (UTC)
Agony. i will shut up --Dobby233Liu (talk) 13:54, 15 August 2022 (UTC)
