Arma: Combat Operations is a tactical military shooter developed by Bohemia Interactive, the original developers of Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis. It is a spiritual successor to that game, but was made without Operation Flashpoint publisher Codemasters after a dispute with Bohemia led to the two cutting ties in 2005.

A sequel, Arma II, was released in 2009. The sequel to that game, Arma III, was released in 2013.

Unused Missions

The Armed Assault campaign has these two missions included in ca.pbo, but it will neither launch nor open in the editor.

To repair this, you need to edit mission.sqm within the mission folder. Under Class Vehicles, edit Item17 through Item22 and set vehicle="FlagCarrier". Also, edit Class Intro->Class Intel, and add necessary forecast/time information.

Once it runs, it plays similarly to Night Patrol in Cold War Crisis where you need to defend a communication tower, but there's a few changes. First, a saboteur approaches from the right with a significant chance to attack the player. Second, the saboteur from the left never gets close enough to plant the satchel charge, thus the player only needs to defend against one enemy. Third, a scripting bug prevents the enemy from detonating the satchel charge, making it impossible for the tower to fall.

The mission also contains speech files from the original mission, but the actual voice lines are taken from elsewhere. The lines are spoken properly.

The mission has a few soldiers, codename Team Nightowl, initially placed in Paraiso. They are supposed to deploy to the local area as soon as there's information about infrared contacts, but the transport helicopter is out of fuel. They won't be able to reach the mission area by the time the mission ends.
