Arma III/Unused Clothing

From The Cutting Room Floor
Jump to navigation Jump to search

This is a sub-page of Arma III.

Just to be clear: to be inline with other sources, here "camouflage" refers to different colors and textures, while "variant" refers to different variations. For example, the Booniehat headgear has six camouflages—MTP, Tropic, Woodland, AAF, Taiga, LDF, Khaki, Green, Olive, and Sand—and two variants, one with a headset microphone and one without. References to military camouflage designs themselves such as MTP, Green Digital, and Hex are referred to here as "patterns".

BLUFOR

Sage Green NATO Combat Fatigues

A solid-colored sage green camouflage of NATO's standard-issue Combat Fatigues, which in the final game are only available in MTP, Tropic, and Woodland, all of which are patterns. It may have been NATO's standard uniform, or an alternate uniform worn by rear personnel or soldiers from other NATO member states. In the final game, this is never worn by any NATO soldiers and does not appear in the Virtual Arsenal.

Interestingly, it is prominently displayed in an archival newspaper photograph during the intro to the Old Man scenario mini-campaign, worn by Santiago and his French Foreign Legion comrades in Argana (an arid environment where the basic MTP would actually be more fitting). However, this is merely a prerendered image, and the Sage Green uniform is not worn by Santiago in gameplay, nor does it appear anywhere in the campaign (despite it being suitable for Tanoa's environment).

Its classname is U_B_CombatUniform_sgg for the regular variant, U_B_CombatUniform_sgg_tshirt for the T-shirt variant, and U_B_CombatUniform_sgg_vest for the Recon variant. Its texture file is clothing_sage_co.paa.

Old Woodland NATO Combat Fatigues

NATO's Combat Fatigues have an unused camouflage using a pattern of green, tan, and brown that resembles the old U.S. Woodland pattern used by the U.S. military from the early 1980s to the mid-2000s. What it would be used for is unknown, as U.S. Woodland is no longer in use and does not fit the environments of Altis and Stratis that well; perhaps it would have appeared in archival shots or a flashback scene that was cut after the uniform was already added, or it was intended as NATO's standard or alternate uniform before the decision was made to use the more modern MultiCam-based MTP camouflage. In the final game, this is never worn by any NATO soldiers and does not appear in the Virtual Arsenal. Note that although the Contact DLC did add a camouflage for the Combat Fatigues called Woodland, it uses a different pattern that is mostly dark green.

Its classname is U_B_CombatUniform_wdl for the regular variant, U_B_CombatUniform_wdl_tshirt for the T-shirt variant, and U_B_CombatUniform_wdl_vest for the Recon variant. Its texture file is clothing_wdl_co.paa.

Dirty MTP NATO Combat Fatigues

NATO's basic MTP Combat Fatigues but dirtied up. It seems to fit a pretty fierce battle or the look of a survivor, and probably would have been used in The East Wind, as scenes early into that campaign suit that exact situation pretty well.

Its texture is clothing1_dirty_co.paa.

Scott Miller's Civilian Clothes

Civilian clothes which would have been worn by Scott Miller when he was the protagonist of The East Wind, and when that was scrapped, by civilians. It consists of a blue tight-fitting short-sleeve T-shirt with a white stripe down the side and blue with black, white, and brown stripe designs. It can be seen in Gamescom 2011 preview footage. In the final game, Miller never wears anything aside from his issued military uniforms, no one else wears this, and it does not appear in the Virtual Arsenal.

Its model is c_citizen5.p3d, its textures are basicbody_blue_co.paa and c_cloth4_co.paa, and its icon is icon_u_c_miller_ca.paa. It will appear as regular Commoner Clothes if applied using scripts and requires mods to see properly.

REDFOR

Raven Security Fatigues

A camouflage for CSAT's Fatigues in a slightly brighter Green Digital, with a Russian flag patch on the right arm. This was meant to be worn by Raven Security, a cut faction aligned with CSAT. As the faction that was intended to wear it was cut before the pre-alpha, this obviously isn't worn by anyone at any point, and it isn't accessible without mods or scripting.

Its texture is clothing_rus_co.paa.

INDFOR

Guerilla Garment Camouflages

Hmmm...
To do:
Get more details on the Brown camouflage for the shirt, and find the textures for both pants camouflages.

The Guerilla Garments worn by the FIA, as well as the Loyalists and pro-AAF paramilitaries in the Tac-Ops DLC's Beyond Hope campaign, have multiple unused camouflages. They are Blue, consisting of a blue shirt with a red shemag; Yellow, a yellow shirt with a white shemag; and Orange, an orange-yellow shirt with a green shemag; Kabeiroi, a black-and-grey urban pattern with a green shemag; Bandit, a red-and-pink camo pattern shirt with a design of a black skull with a spine on the back, with a black shemag; and Brown, a brown version of Bandit.

By default, these have the usual AAF pants of the used Guerilla Garments, making their bright colors stand out considerably. But there are two textures specifically for these pants that seem to match with these more casual tops. They are Olive and Black, which are pretty much exactly what you'd expect.

Blue's texture is c_cloth1_co.paa, Yellow's texture is c_cloth1_v2_co.paa, Orange's texture is c_cloth1_v3_co.paa, Kabeiroi's texture is c_cloth1_kabeiroi_co.paa, Bandit's texture is c_cloth1_bandit_co.paa, and Brown's texture is c_cloth1_brown.paa.

Guerilla Outfit Camouflages

Similar to the above, the Guerilla Outfit has additional unused camouflages that are likewise considerably more casual than the used camouflages. They are Blue/Black, consisting of a blue-and-white checkerboard shirt with black pants and shoes; Blue/White, the same but with white pants and shoes; Green, a lime-and-white striped shirt with white pants and shoes; Kabeiroi, an orange-and-blue striped shirt with brown pants and shoes; and Bandit, a rather scruffy-looking salmon shirt with white pants and shoes.

Blue/Black's texture is c_cloth3_co.paa, Blue/White's texture is c_cloth3_v2_co.paa, Green's texture is c_cloth3_v3_co.paa, Kabeiroi's texture is c_cloth3_v3_co.paa, and Bandit's texture is c_cloth3_bandit_co.paa.

Pro-Altis Paramilitary Uniform

A uniform worn by pro-Altis militants who played a role in pre-alpha renditions of The East Wind. It consists of a black shirt and baggy black pants with a cream plaid shemag. Unlike the FIA, it seems this would have been the only uniform worn by these militants. It was ultimately cut alongside the pro-Altis militias, but remains in the game's files.

Its model is o_paramilitary.p3d.

Early Guerilla Smocks

The Guerilla Smocks worn by FIA fighters, criminals, and civilians originally consisted of a bright tan jacket with an olive shirt, grey shemag, and dark grey jeans. However, after the release of The East Wind's third act, its textures were updated to consist of a mud brown jacket with a grey shirt, olive shemag, and blue jeans. This was most likely to better differentiate it from the Hunting Clothes, which also uses a tan jacket, grey shemag, and dark grey jeans, is worn by pretty much the same people, and had a camouflage using the exact same color scheme as the updated textures (see below).

Its icon's classname is U_BG_Guerilla3_2. The original textures are no longer in the game, having been replaced by the updated textures.

Brown Hunter Clothes

A Brown camouflage for the Hunter Clothes worn by FIA fighters, criminals, and civilians exists but does not appear in the Virtual Arsenal and is never worn by anyone. This is probably because it uses the exact same color scheme as the aforementioned updated Guerilla Smocks, and is probably where its color scheme comes from, making this completely unnecessary even if it was added.

Its classname is U_C_HunterBody_brn.

Nikos Panagopoulos's Pre-Alpha Clothes

Civilian clothes worn by Nikos Panagopoulos in the pre-alpha. It consists of a light-red-and-white striped shirt with a dragon design, a white belt with light grey etchings, and dark blue jeans—as well as, oddly, two watches, a pair of raised sunglasses, and a cigarette placed above the right ear, the last two of which would normally be considered headgear or facewear. It can be seen in Gamescom 2011 preview footage and several prerelease screenshots. Needless to say, it's very clearly intended solely for Nikos, but is never worn by him. In the final game, though it goes unused in regular gameplay, no civilians wear it, and it does not appear in the Virtual Arsenal, a unit consisting of Nikos wearing this can be placed in the Eden Editor.

Its classname is C_Nikos, its model is c_nikos.p3d, and its textures are nikos_wear_co.paa. It is worn by the aforementioned Nikos unit, but cannot be worn by anyone else without mods or scripting.

Civilians

Additional Commoner Clothes

Commoner Clothes consists of a T-shirt with shorts and sandals, which are simply retextured several times for 6 different camouflages. Its variant Casual Clothes is, depending on the DLC each set originates from, a polo shirt, pants, and leather shoes (Apex), or a short-sleeve shirt, jeans, and running shoes (Art of War), both of which are likewise retextured several times for 9 different camouflages. These make up a good chunk of the few civilian-oriented clothes in the game, let alone those that aren't job-specific like the Worker Coveralls, Scientist Clothes, or Formal Suit.

But there were at least four more sets left unused in the game's files. These include a polo shirt with cargo pants and what appears to be an identification badge for some reason; a short-sleeved hoodie with a shemagh; a striped short-sleeved leisure suit with the jeans from Miller's unused civilian clothes; and, well, Miller's unused civilian clothes. The tops and bottoms for each have separate textures, potentially allowing for dozens of combinations each, which would have greatly improved the civilian clothing diversity... while also bloating the uniform list with clothes you can't really wear in combat, which might've been why these were cut despite being finished.

The polo variant's model is c_citizen2.p3d, the hoodie variant's model is c_citizen3.p3d, and the leisure suit variant's model is c_citizen4.p3d; Miller's unused clothes are above, but for posterity, its model is c_citizen5.p3d. They do not appear in the Virtual Arsenal and will appear as regular Commoner Clothes if applied using scripts, requiring mods to see properly.

Worn Clothes Camouflages

Worn Clothes consists of a worn-out blue T-shirt with white seams, black pants with a small tan pouch, and running shoes. That there is only a single camouflage for this generic civilian outfit is unusual when compared to the aforementioned Commoner Clothes and Casual Clothes. There were supposed to be three more camouflages though, as it actually has multiple textures that go unused. They were a bright yellow T-shirt with green seams, mud brown pants with a dark brown pouch, and brown running shoes; an orange T-shirt with teal seams, sage green pants with an orange pouch, and orange shoes; and a Bandit variant consisting of a pale red camo T-shirt with black seams and a design of a skull on the front and a spine on the back, deep orange pants with a brown pouch, and mud brown running shoes. It's unclear why they were cut, but it may have been the same reasons as above.

The yellow camouflage's texture is c_cloth1_v2_co.paa, the orange camouflage's texture is c_cloth1_v3_co.paa, and the Bandit camouflage's texture is c_cloth1_bandit_co.paa.

Poor Shorts

Poor Shorts was, ostensibly, clothes with shorts that were worn by civilians who were poor or weren't having the best time during the ongoing war(s). Judging by its name, it may have been a variant of the Commoner Clothes that was tattered, a variant of the Worn Clothes that had shorts instead of pants, or an entirely different design altogether; it doesn't really matter regardless, as they share their appearance with the default Commoner Clothes. They may have been cut for the same reasons as above, or because Worn Clothes communicates the same thing rather well already, or simply because the developers decided it was pretty hard to nail down what poor people wear in general.

It had two variants, classnames U_C_Poor_shorts_1 and U_C_Poor_shorts_2. As already stated, wearing them will always equip Commoner Clothes; no models, textures, or icons associated with either are known to remain.

Scavenger Clothes

Scavenger Clothes were intended to be worn by civilian scavengers during The East Wind. It actually appeared in the second act of said campaign, being worn by a group of dead bandits in Oreokastro that can be found during a scouting mission, but was removed with the release of the third act. There seems to have been a good reason for its removal, though: like the Poor Clothes, it shares its appearance with the Worn Clothes. It may have been one of its previously-mentioned alternate camouflages (possibly the Bandit variant), or it could have had a unique design. They were likely cut for the same reasons as above.

It had two variants, classnames U_C_Scavenger_1 and U_C_Scavenger_2. As already stated, wearing them will always equip Worn Clothes; no models, textures, or icons associated with either are known to remain.

Worker Overalls

Worker Overalls were apparently intended to be worn by Altian farmers, and were technically an early rendition of the Contact DLC's Farmer Outfit. Appearance-wise, they were simply a duplicate of the Worker Coveralls. Though an actual Farmer Outfit was added in the Contact DLC as mentioned, the Worker Overalls remains unused.

Its classname is U_C_WorkerOveralls.

Side Non-Specific/Unclear

Default Wetsuit Camouflage

The Wetsuit only comes in three faction-specific camouflages: Black (NATO and Gendarmerie), Hex (CSAT), and Olive (AAF). Black, as the most basic one of them all, is generally the de facto default camouflage. However, actual default textures for the Wetsuit exist unused in the game's files. It is a three-tone version of the Hex camouflage in olive, white, and dark green, with black and grey parts. It is unclear which faction would have used this, possibly civilians, the FIA, or the AAF before the Olive camouflage was designed. It may have been cut because it looked too similar to Hex and Olive, which would be quite troublesome if it really was the design intended for civilians.

Its texture is diver_suit_co.paa.

Grey CBRN Suit

The CBRN Suit introduced in the Contact DLC has an unused Grey camouflage, but no textures or icons remain. As most of the CBRN Suit camouflages are associated with specific factions (such as MTP being used by NATO and Blue being used by the Gendarmerie), it is unclear which faction would have used this.

The text string str_a3_c_cfgweapons_u_b_cbrn_suit_01_gray_f0 points to its existence.

Heli Pilot Coveralls/Worker Coveralls Camouflages

Heli Pilot Coveralls only come in three faction-specific camouflages: Sage (NATO), Sand (AAF), and Geometric (LDF). But there are four additional unused camouflages for the Heli Pilot Coveralls that do not appear to correspond with specific factions. They are Urban Camo (a grey version of the AAF's Green Digital camouflage), Black (all-black), Bandit (worn-out dark red), and Grey (light grey with white stripes). As the model used by the Heli Pilot Coveralls is shared with the Worker Coveralls (which only has a single camouflage), some of these may have been intended as camouflages for that. What these would be used for and why these were cut is unclear.

The Urban Camo camouflage's texture is coveralls_urbancamo_co.paa, the Black camouflage's texture is coveralls_black_co.paa, the Bandit camouflage's texture is coveralls_bandit_co.paa, and the Grey camouflage's texture is coveralls_grey_co.paa.

Headgear

BLUFOR

Unmodified Light Combat Helmet

NATO's Light Combat Helmet features a plethora of decorative attachments, including a flashlight, an IR strobe, and a battery pack. The pre-alpha version lacked these attachments, giving it a barebones, "light" appearance. This unmodified version can be seen in pre-alpha screenshots and the official "Stratis" teaser trailer, where it is worn by Ben Kerry.

The original unmodified model, or at least a remnant of it, remains in the game, headgear_placeholder.p3d. It uses the same textures as the used Light Combat Helmet. It does not appear in the Virtual Arsenal, but can be reenabled with mods.

American Enhanced Combat Helmet

NATO's Enhanced Combat Helmet had a large American flag stenciled on the ear covers. In the final game, this was removed, probably because the flag stood out too much, and also so players who weren't trying to look American could still wear the Enhanced Combat Helmet, which is one of NATO's most protective standard helmets.

The American flag helmet's textures were fully replaced by the final Enhanced Combat Helmet's textures and are no longer in the game.

Colonel Beret

A camouflage of a camouflage of NATO's Beret variant. Specifically, it's the camouflage with the 111th Infantry Division's emblem instead of the generic blue patch, but with an eagle patch overlaid over it, signifying the wearer has the rank of colonel. It was presumably meant to be worn by Colonel Armstrong, leader of the 111th in The East Wind, but was cut in favor of the more universal 111th Beret.

Its texture is headgear_beret02_colonel_eagle_co.paa.

REDFOR

Semi-Arid Defender Helmet

A Semi-Arid camouflage for CSAT's Defender Helmet, using a greenish-brown and dark brown Hex pattern as opposed to the orangish-brown and black Hex pattern of the regular one, can be seen in several prerelease screenshots, apparently as an alternate camouflage. It is not present in the final game and was likely cut because it did not match with the rest of the CSAT uniform.

The Semi-Arid camouflage's textures are no longer in the game's files.

Raven Security Military Cap

A camouflage for the Military Cap that was meant to be worn by Raven Security. It no longer has textures, but was presumably the same brighter Green Digital as the other Raven Security uniform items. It obviously isn't worn by anyone, and it isn't accessible without mods or scripting.

Its classname is H_MilCap_rucamo.

Raven Security Cap

A camouflage for the Cap in a slightly brighter Green Digital. This was meant to be worn by Raven Security, but was cut along with them. It isn't worn by anyone, and it isn't accessible without mods or scripting.

Its texture is capb_raven_co.paa.

INDFOR

Unused Modular Helmet Variants

The Modular Helmet is quite unusual, being the only faction-specific helmet from the base game to lack alternate camouflages and variants. But it was intended to have two more variants: Net and Camo. The former probably applied some sort of webbing around the helmet (used to attach foliage to blend in better), while the latter likely had said foliage applied similar to the Camo variant of NATO's Combat Helmet. However, both of these unused variants simply share their appearance with the Modular Helmet, suggesting they weren't finished before being cut.

The Net variant's classname is H_HelmetIA_net, and the Camo variant's classname is H_HelmetIA_camo.

MICH2

A copy of the Modular Helmet called the MICH2 exists but is never worn by the AAF or anyone else in regular gameplay. It seems to be named after the Modular Integrated Communications Helmet (MICH), a real helmet from the 2000s that is used by several countries, including apparently Greece, and the "2" suggests it's specifically some sort of improved version; however, the Modular Helmet is based on the Personnel Armor System for Ground Troops (PASGT) helmet from the 1980s, and does not appear to take design cues from the MICH.

The MICH2 can be worn using mods or scripting, and is identical to the Modular Helmet.

Early LDF Beret

The LDF's Beret was originally meant to be bright green (about the same shade of green as the INDFOR color), and its texture remains in the game's files but is unused. Like the Sage Green NATO Combat Fatigues, this early LDF Beret is prominently seen in the archival newspaper photograph in the intro to the Old Man scenario mini-campaign as the main headgear of pretty much everyone in the French Foreign Legion except Santiago (with the LDF's symbol on the front conveniently obscured)—making that two unused clothing items in a single image—but again, it's merely a prerendered image, and the LDF Beret does not actually appear in the campaign itself.

Its texture is h_beret_eaf_01_ca.paa.

Civilians

Hellenic Police Cap

Hmmm...
To do:
This might still have an icon, if its image on the Armed Assault Wiki indicates anything. Check if it's really still there.

The Police camouflage for the Cap had a different design in the pre-alpha. This early design is a bright blue (similar to the Blue camouflage) with a slightly-modified seal of the Hellenic Police, the actual national law enforcement agency of Greece, emblazoned on the front. It was very obviously cut after the decision was made to change the game's setting from Limnos to Altis. In the final game, the Police camouflage for the Cap uses the same generic dark blue design as the Police camouflage for the Tactical Vest.

Its texture does not appear to still be in the game, and it was likely fully replaced by the used Police Cap's textures.

SERO Cap

A brown Cap with the logo of SERO International Ltd, a Hungarian firearms manufacturer, exists in the game's files as an unused camouflage for the Cap. SERO is the company that designed and manufactures the GM6 Lynx sniper rifle—yes, that's a real gun, it's product placement and SERO gave Bohemia permission to add it—and seeing a Cap also exists for CMMG Inc., the designers of the MX rifle, this was likely also meant as a "thank you" to them, but was never added.

Its texture is capb_sero_co.paa.

Bandana Mask

There is an unused variant of the Bandana headgear called the Bandana Mask, consisting of a Bandana worn underneath a Cap (despite being described as a "mask", the facewear of the same name is not used here, and the face is not concealed at all). It has four camouflages: Black, Khaki, Demon, and Reaper. The first two seem fairly obvious, while the last two probably referred to the Bandana's design, a bit like how the Bandana facewear has mouth designs; however, we'll probably never know for sure, because when worn the Bandana Mask will always default to an Olive Cap with a Blue Bandana underneath. It was probably cut because the Bandana is barely visible under the Cap, plus the name is rather misleading.

The classname for the Black camouflage is H_BandMask_blk, the Khaki camouflage is H_BandMask_khk, the Demon camouflage is H_BandMask_demon, and the Reaper camouflage is H_BandMask_reaper. As already stated, these will always appear as an Olive Cap with a Blue Bandana regardless of camouflage, as they lack associated textures.

Beanie Camouflages and Variant

Hmmm...
To do:
Add their textures and config files.

There are three unused camouflages for the Beanie: Dark Blue, Red, and Sage Green. The former have unused texture files, while the latter only exists as a config entry. They may have had to do with a similarly unused variant of the Beanie that lacks the headset microphone of the used variant, as both have little to do with military applications and seem to have been intended for civilians. It is unknown why these go unused, but it is possibly because beanies are usually only worn by civilians in cold weather (soldiers generally wear them to protect and camouflage their hair without a helmet), and Altis and Stratis are in the Mediterranean.

The unused model is woolhat.p3d.

Arma II Booniehat

Hmmm...
To do:
Add its texture file. Unless that icon file is its texture file, which is unlikely and would be unusual if true.

What appears to be the same booniehat worn by the USMC Force Reconnaissance in Arma II, albeit retextured to be beige with a green band, remains unused in the game's files. Its uncamouflaged design suggests it was meant to be worn by civilians, but the head partially clips through the hat when worn, suggesting it was cut for this reason, or it's a leftover from earlier in development before character designs and body shapes were finalized.

Its model is headgear_booniehat01.p3d, and its icon is icon_h_booniehat_ca.paa.

Side Non-Specific/Unclear

Basic Helmet with Visor

The Basic Helmet added in the Laws of War DLC was meant to have some sort of protective visor, either like a riot helmet or like the reinforced visors that are part of EOD suit helmets, most likely the latter as the Laws of War DLC largely revolves around unexploded ordnance disposal. Whether it would be on all Basic Helmets or a specific EOD variant is unknown. According to developer Joris-Jan van 't Land on the Bohemia Interactive forums, this visor was created and prototyped and planned to be implemented, but clipping and rendering issues led to it being cut. In the final game, the Basic Helmet lacks a visor and thus any facial protection, though this does make it more generic and thus suitably common among factions that don't have dedicated helmets such as the Gendarmerie.

The visor and its textures do not appear to remain in the game's files. It was likely fully removed before it could have textures created for it.

(Source: Bohemia Interactive forums thread; see page 3)

Heli Pilot Helmet with Raised Visor

An unused variant of the Heli Pilot Helmet with a raised visor. Where or why it would be used is unclear, as realistically the visor displays a HUD for the pilot and raising it would hide that (though that does not happen when this is worn in-game), and it may have been cut for that reason.

Its model is headgear_helmet_heli_visor_up.p3d.

Military Cap Camouflages

Hmmm...
To do:
Add their texture filenames.

The Military Cap, which is obviously normally only used by militaries and paramilitaries, has four unused camouflages whose textures remain unused. Of them, one is a generic Tan camouflage that's about what you'd expect, and the other three are civilian camouflages that don't appear to have been intended to use the headset microphone model. They were sage green with an odd-looking grey brick-like pattern everywhere except the band and visor; beige with a luxurious-looking black and brown checker pattern; and brown and yellow with a black checker pattern. All four unused camouflages appear to be finished but do not appear in the final game for unknown reasons.

Beret Camouflages

Hmmm...
To do:
Add their config entries. Also, try and find what the difference was between the two green ones, as well as which variant of Beret these unused camouflages would have used.

The Beret has multiple unused camouflages that seem to correspond to different factions, a bit like how NATO has their own Beret. These are a Black camouflage apparently intended for police, a green camouflage for civilians, another green camouflage for special forces (unclear what the difference would have been between both green ones), and a Hex camouflage for CSAT. In the final game, only NATO received a unique Beret at launch while civilians got a less-formal Beret design of their own. The concept lived on in future DLCs though, as a red CSAT Beret and a dark blue Gendarmerie Beret were added in the Apex DLC, and a light blue LDF Beret was added in the Contact DLC.

Though these camouflages all have config entries, they do not have textures associated with them.

Facewear

Side Non-Specific/Unclear

Tactical Shades Camouflages

The Tactical Shades have two unused camouflages. They are Camo, with dark brown lenses and a green, black, and white woodland pattern frame; and Orange, with orange lenses and a grey frame.

The Camo camouflage's texture is tactical_4_ca.paa, and the Orange camouflage's texture is tactical_2_ca.paa.

Vests

BLUFOR

NATO Carrier Rig Camouflages

NATO's Carrier Rig is normally only available in Green, Black, Tropic, and Woodland camouflages, but textures exist for two brown-colored camouflages, Khaki and Coyote Brown. They can be seen in pre-alpha screenshots as the standard vest of NATO soldiers. They were likely cut to better differentiate between NATO and CSAT, the latter of whom often wear brown vests, or because the developers decided the Green camouflage worked better with the Combat Fatigues. In the final game, the majority of NATO soldiers wear Green Carrier Rigs on Altis, Tropic on Tanoa, and Woodland in Livonia.

Both textures still exist, vests_khk_co.paa for Khaki and vests_cbr_co.paa for Coyote Brown. They do not appear in the Virtual Arsenal, but can be reenabled with mods.

REDFOR

ELBV Harness

Hmmm...
To do:
What was the LBV Harness's storage capacity at the game's launch?

CSAT's LBV Harness had a variant in early releases of the game called the ELBV Harness, with two camouflages, Brown and Grey, much like the used LBV Harness—because they use the same model. It was an "enhanced" variant of the LBV Harness with 160 mass units (the LBV Harness originally had a lower storage capacity), a bit like how NATO has multiple variants of the Carrier Rig with varying degrees of protection and mass. When the third act of The East Wind was released, the ELBV Harness's mass capacity was transferred to the LBV Harness, and it went unused.

The Brown camouflage's classname is V_HarnessOSpec_brn, and the Grey camouflage's classname is V_HarnessOSpec_gry. They do not appear in the Virtual Arsenal and cannot be worn without mods or scripting, but are identical to the LBV Harness.

INDFOR

Fighter Chestrig

The Black and Olive camouflages for the Chest Rig were initially a separate variant called the Fighter Chestrig. They were basically duplicates of the Chest Rig, with no differences aside from color. It is unclear why these two camouflages were made separate from the Green and Khaki camouflages. It was removed with the release of the third act of The East Wind, when its textures were made camouflages of the Chest Rig.

Side Non-Specific/Unclear

Default Rebreather

The second half of the Default Wetsuit, a Rebreather with similar textures, also remains unused. It uses a two-tone version of the Hex camouflage in dark green and grey, with olive straps and black parts. It is unclear which faction would have used this, and it was probably cut for the same reasons as its Wetsuit counterpart.

Its texture is diver_equip_co.paa.

Backpacks

Side Non-Specific/Unclear

Kitbag Camouflages

Hmmm...
To do:
Add their texture filenames.

The Kitbag has two unused camouflage that remain unused in the game's files: a Black camouflage and what appears to be a Digital Green camouflage. The latter specifically uses a brighter Digital Green than what is normally used by the AAF; this is similar to the camouflage used by the cut Raven Security faction, so it may have been intended for them and was cut alongside them, though why the Black camouflage was also cut is unknown. In the final game, the AAF does not use the Kitbag at all.

"Bergen Backpacks"

The Bergen Backpack was added to the game in the Apex DLC, but before it were several backpacks that were also referred to as Bergens, all mostly unused and absent from the Virtual Arsenal. Their presence, even appearing in certain campaigns and scenarios such as the Beyond Hope campaign, might suggest the Bergen Backpack was intended for the game at launch. There's just one catch: they are all simply placeholders for the Carryall Backpack, and are unchanged from them. The actual Bergen Backpack from the Apex DLC is its own backpack with a unique model.

Early Assault Pack?

What is supposedly an early version of the Assault Pack has a leftover icon. At least, it's supposedly an Assault Pack; it seems to use a model of the Black camouflage of the Chest Rig except without the "rig" part, featuring only the hydration pack, which simply contains water for the soldier to drink and can't really store anything like a backpack can. If that's not odd enough, it's angled in a manner similar to how vests are, but with the hydration pack facing the front.

Its icon is icon_b_assaultpack_ca.paa. The hydration pack is part of the Chest Rig's model, but the version without the rig depicted in the icon does not appear to still be in the game's files.
