This is a sub-page of Balloon Kid.

In 2000, an enhanced version of Balloon Kid was released in Japan (in place of the original) as Balloon Fight GB, exclusively at Nintendo Power kiosks. Outside of added Game Boy Color and Super Game Boy support, there are some differences between it and the original Balloon Kid.

Differences from Balloon Kid

Title Screen

Balloon Kid Balloon Fight GB
Ball(balloon)(balloon)n kid™ Don't be fooled, this isn't a Balloon Fight port.I wonder how many recognized some of the game's music from the Game Boy Camera...

The title screen is completely different between the two releases. Balloon Kid has the mode selection on the title screen, while Balloon Fight GB moves it to a separate screen.

World Map

The completed world map.

Whereas Balloon Kid has no saving capability and just plays every level in a row, Balloon Fight GB adds a world map, which acts as a level select of sorts. Each level is unlocked by completing the one before it, with the game prompting the player to save after each level. The music played on the world map is the same as the track in Balloon Kid which plays just after clearing Stage 8 but before the Staff Credits.

Super Game Boy Borders

There aren't really any balloons here... ...Oh, there they are!

Balloon Fight GB adds two different Super Game Boy borders. The first is shown by default, while the second is shown by holding down any button during the Super Game Boy startup.
