This is a sub-page of Development:Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen.
Scrapped Tiles
In the game's source code, several unused tilesets can be found. These have the suffix "ach," while the used ones use the suffix "sch_LZ." It seems that the ach files were what the artists used before they were shrunk to just what ended up being used.
Field_n1
The Seagallop Ferry building featured a Rapidash logo, possibly a logo for the company itself. For some reason this wasn't used.
Field_7
The tiles that form a shape similar to a "V" weren't used in the final tileset.
Field_9
Pokémon Mansion almost had holes on its roof. These were removed from the final tileset.
Gym_03
An early take of Surge's Gym decoration. It shows an ever so slightly different Surge Badge.
PC
Early tiles for trade-related stuff.
Room
One special tile in the uncut tileset is a nearly identical copy of the Gen 1 Rhydon statue.

Final
|

|
Red's design (in both Green.dat and Hero I.dat) aligns with that of his Generation 1 design. Interestingly, Green.dat has Red without a cap, revealing blue hair; a hair color neither the official artwork of Red in Red/Green (black) nor his artwork for FireRed/LeafGreen (brown) has. Lacks refining.
Blue/Green

Both rival spritesheets lack Blue/Green's hairspike in the middle compared to the final, alongside lacking refining.
Professor Oak
Lacks refining.

An unknown statue. It could've been a placeholder for the Mewtwo statues in Pokémon Mansion because in Pokémon Red and Blue they were just Rhydon statues.
