This is a sub-page of Eversion (2008).
This page documents changes from releases 1.4.0, 1.5.2, and 1.7.3. It is unknown if other builds actually exist/have been archived.
Title Screen
- A menu to change the control layout was added in Version 1.5.2.
- Due to the new music in Version 1.7.3, the title screen credits were altered.
Post-Game
v1.5.2
v1.7.3
- The post-game title screen was modified in v1.7.3 due to the inclusion of the time trial mode, available (and locked to) when completing World 8-X.
Gameplay/Graphics
Zee-Tee
- In Version 1.4.0, pressing the jump button always makes Zee-Tee jump at maximum height. This was changed in v1.5.2, where pressing the jump button at a certain length makes Zee-Tee jump at a shorter or higher height before falling.
- In v1.5.2 and prior, Zee-Tee moved at a notoriously fast speed. This was changed in v1.7.3, where his movement speed was halved.
Auto-Scrolling
In v1.4.0, the autoscrolling parts of Worlds 3-X and 6-X ran at a constant, slow speed, with the camera no longer following Zee-Tee. Starting from v1.5.2, however, the camera also follows Zee-Tee, likely to enhance the player's visibility.
InvisiGhuliba/Stony
In v1.5.2 and prior, block slot 19 was used to place the type of enemy known as an "InvisiGoomba" internally. It is a type of Ghuliba that cannot be touched in certain Eversions, becoming semitransparent. In v1.7.3, this slot was replaced with Stony, an invincible enemy that can be used as a jumping support. Several level layouts were altered to fit the replacement, mostly in Worlds 7-X and 8-X.
Claw/Moving Claw
The graphics for the Claw/Moving Claw enemies were redrawn in v1.5.2.
Maps
All the maps are seen with the Eversion X-1 texture for the sake of consistency.
World 1-X
v1.5.2 and prior
v1.7.3
- The layout of the area near the 1~2 Eversion block was slightly modified in v1.7.3.
World 4-X
v1.5.2 and prior
v1.7.3
- The area right after the checkpoint was made easier, adding several blocks underneath the bridge with the claws.
v1.4.0
v1.5.2 onwards
- The layout of the head-like section near the end of the level was altered, making it somewhat easier.
World 5-X
- Several Stony enemies were added at many points in the level, although these enemies only act as such starting from Eversion X-7, which is not reachable in this level without hacking.
- A (spiky, considering the player is in Eversion X-6 when reaching the area) flower was added in the staircase trap area near the end of the level in v1.5.2. Stony enemies were also added to said area in v1.7.3.
World 6-X
v1.5.2 and prior
v1.7.3
- In v1.7.3, an inaccessible platform with a Stony was added in the beginning of the level. It's likely to showcase the "debut" of said enemy, as a forced Eversion 6~7 change happens not very long after the level starts.
v1.5.2 and prior
v1.7.3
- The labyrinth area in the end of the level was made slightly easier, adding several more breakable blocks.
World 8-X
- In versions 1.4.0 and 1.5.2, the level's Eversion changes randomly at a certain interval, adding a certain difficulty to it. This does not happen in v1.7.3, as the level was completely changed, now featuring areas accessible to only several Eversions, that go down as more Eversion change blocks are found.
- Additionally, in v1.7.3, the claw in the end of the level appears independent of Eversion. This claw is stored in block slot 1A, instead of the common variant found at block slot 17.
From now on, this section will only document changes between versions 1.4.0 and 1.5.2.
- Several "ceilings"' holes were widened.
- The "up and down" area near the beginning of the level was made a lot easier, adding an area where the player can properly jump, and removing one row of enemies.
- A wall was removed near the "claw tunnel" section in the middle of the level.
Music
Title Screen, Eversion X-1, Level Completion
Prior to v1.7.3, the title screen, Eversion X-1 and Level Completion tracks were recycled from Cocoron. This was eventually changed, likely to avoid copyright issues.
Eversion X-3
The music track used in Eversion X-3 was made different in v1.5.2, changing the ending and adding several samples.
