Bearing no relation whatsoever to the Peter Molyneux game, the 1996 Fable is the tale of Quickthorpe and his quest of obtaining the mystical gemstones.

Revisional Differences

The original release of the European version had an ending that was much more mean-spirited, revealing the entire game to be the hallucinations of the protagonist, who has been jailed since the age of three for murdering his whole family.

This resulted in such a huge backlash that the game's ending was hastily changed for the future releases, including the North American release, to be Ishmael getting killed and the protagonist going up to Wanette to (presumably) make love.
