Unused duplicates of rooms $0F, $10, $11, and $12. It is possible that the stage was originally meant to be longer.

A completely empty room sandwiched between rooms $08 and $0A.

Mega Man 3 Wily4 Alternative Rematch Room.PNG MM3-WilyBossRematchFinal.png

An earlier version of the boss rematch room. The final room was shrunk horizontally, the platforms were moved, and an animated background was added.

Unused Screens

Early English Title Screen

Present in Room ID $10.

English Version

Early Final
MM3 - Early Title Screen.png MM3 - Final Title Screen (USA).png

An unused copy of the title screen. Due to a different block being used, the "G" in "GAME START" is missing.

Japanese Version

Interestingly, the Japanese version of the game contains an unused tile layout clearly meant to be for the English logo! While it looks glitchy in the original Japanese version, applying the tile data from the English versions of the game reveals a completed "MEGA MAN III" logo.

Unused Japanese Title Screen

Present in Room ID $11.

Unused With "ROCKMAN" tileset

Strangely, just like room ID $10, there is also a leftover title screen, but this time it is from the Japanese version! Interestingly, this screen in the Japanese version of the game is completely empty.

Early Stage Select

Present in Room ID $14.

Early Used In-Game
MM3 - Unused Select Stage.png MM3 - Used Select Stage.png MM3-StageSel.png

An unused earlier version of the Stage Select screen. It seems as though this early version would have used pre-made tileset blocks for each Robot Master's name, similar to how Mega Man 2 handles it.

Wily Cutscene Screen 1 (Early Version)

Present in Room ID $05.

Early Final
Red alert City on the Edge of a Black Hole

An early version of the Dr. Wily takeoff scene still exists in the ROM. The city seen here is a stark contrast to the emptiness of the final version. Notice also that the early version has a large black box at the bottom, presumably for dialogue.

To see this layout in-game, use Game Genie code EAXAAAAA ELXAPAOL before the scene begins.

Wily Cutscene Screen 2 (Early Version)

Present in Room ID $06.

Early Final
Whoa man, the moon My gosh. It's not very full of stars at all

This starry background with the moon was replaced with a simpler starfield in the final version. Probably done because Wily flies to the left during this scene, and they wanted the background to scroll.

To see this layout in-game, use Game Genie code AGXAAAAA ELXAPAOL before the scene begins.
