See, this is why server preservation is important.
This game/console's online features are no longer supported.
While this game/console's online features were once accessible, they are (as of October 10, 2018) no longer officially supported and online-exclusive features may be documented as now-unseen content.
Hmmm...
To do:
  • Document the debugging features that can be enabled in USEROPTIONS.XML.
  • Investigate the Feb 28, 2010 preview and Apr 06, 2010 review builds that were released for differences.

ModNation Racers is a kart racer with a heavy focus on user-created tracks, characters, and karts. For whatever reason, only one-fourth to one-third of the game's content is actually on the disc.

Unused Areas

Hmmm...
To do:
Replace the rest of the in-game screenshots with proper model rips.

CHARACTERSELECT

ModNationPS3 UnusedRoom CHARACTERSELECT.png

DATA/WORLD/CHARACTERSELECT contains a photography room with a white screen and studio lights. It bears a resemblance to a room seen at E3 2009.

KARTSELECT

ModNationPS3 UnusedRoom KARTSELECT.png

DATA/WORLD/KARTSELECT contains an untextured, cross-shaped room with a platform in the centre, most likely meant to house the player's kart.

MODSTUDIO

DATA/WORLD/MODSTUDIO contains files for an early version of the Creation Station that bears a striking resemblance to the one seen at the 2009 PlayStation Holiday Preview event.

RACESTUDIO

ModNationPS3 UnusedRoom RACESTUDIO.png

DATA/WORLD/RACESTUDIO contains a simplified, untextured version of MODSTUDIO with most of the props removed. When loaded in-game, the room appears pitch-black.

TRACKPARK

ModNationPS3 UnusedRoom TRACKPARK Tracks.png

DATA/WORLD/TRACKPARK appears to contain a very early version of ModSpot.

TRACKSTUDIOINTERIOR

ModNationPS3 UnusedRoom TRACKSTUDIOINTERIOR Mods.png

DATA/WORLD/TRACKSTUDIOINTERIOR contains a warehouse with various props and obstacles that can be placed while creating tracks in Track Studio.

Unused Graphics

Default Texture

ModNationPS3 Default Texture.png

DATA/GLOBAL/TEXTUREPACK.TEMP.BIN contains this garish placeholder texture.

Link Textures

Inexplicably, DATA/CHARACTERS/LINK/TEXTUREPACK.TEMP.BIN contains Link's textures from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. The MODELS.BIN and PHYSICS.BIN files in the same directory are empty.

Track Icons

A handful of unused track icons can be found in DATA/ROM/TRACK.

Unused Video

DATA/MOVIES/NA/PLACEHOLDERFMV.BIK is, well, a placeholder video.
