General Differences

  • The HUD always displays two digits.
    • The life icon from the PS1 Crash games is used as a placeholder.
    • The crate counter is animated, a feature not present in the final game.
      • It also does not automatically pull up every time a crate is broken.
    • The total crate tally uses a brown font.
  • Enemies don't have proper death animations at this point - they seem to vanish when jumped on, and will not fly off the screen when spun.
  • The physics seem to be bit off when interacting with crates.
  • Aku Aku does not drop feathers when lost.
  • Wumpa fruits appear to have some physics applied to them when dropped from crates.
  • Checkpoint crates won't display the letters coming out when opened.
  • Life is automatically added up when breaking the life crate, rather than dropping a life pickup.
  • The life crate has a different mugshot.
  • The Aku Aku icon in the crate is different.
  • The crate sprites are different, more akin to their original PS1 textures.

Jungle Jam

  • The lizard enemies are blue.
  • Man-eating plants have a darker shade of purple.
    • It's also facing the wrong side.
  • Waterfalls are static.
  • There is no exit pad at the end of the level.
  • There are 17 crates in the level as opposed to 42.

Shipwrecked

  • The surface of the water can be seen at the top at the start of the level, a la Crash Bandicoot: Warped.
  • The submergible vehicle would have made a return, but was ultimately cut. Unlike its Warped counterpart, here it appears to have a drill attached to its tip.

Frostbite Cavern

  • Ice physics are missing at this point, as well as Crash's skidding animation.
  • The ? crate is empty.
  • There are 13 crates in the level as opposed to 114.
