This page details pre-release information and/or media for Croc 2 (Game Boy Color).
Pre-release Screenshots
A few magazines were given early screenshots for preview purposes, and the manual features one early screenshot. The only levels shown are from the Sailor Village.

Although mostly the same as final, the grass on the top right has something placed on it, likely a barrier.

The barrier at the bottom is larger in the final, and the dithering around the grass doesn't seem to be as strong.

A rock is missing, and the grass on the left has been extended.

An early pause menu screenshot can be found in the game's manual. The bottom bar appears to be missing, though this may just be how it was cropped. Most notably, the Jelly Jump is in a different place, with a number next to it. In the final, Croc may only have one Jelly Jump at a time.
Manual Sprites
The instruction manual uses several older sprites.

The large crystal seems to have lost some pixels in the final.

The Robo Gobbo was redone for the final, making it much smaller.

The Sailor Dantini has a different fireball in the final, and a shadow was added. The mouth has more detail in the early screenshot, and although it's cut off in the manual, the arm seems to be shaped differently and positioned a little higher. The horns are also a little smaller in the final.
Pre-release | Final |
---|---|
The early Cossack Dantini was seemingly split into two different types of Cossack Dantini. The only Cossack Dantini with horns is the static one that breathes fire, but the moving one carries the same fork in his hand and has no shadow. The final version of this Dantini is a deep blue, but the early sprite is more of a lavender purple.

---|---|
The final Caveman Dantini has torn bottom apparel, the collar is missing and so are the sleeves. He's also less friendly in the final.
The Incan Dantinis aren't shown. In their place is a sprite of Baron Dante himself, taken from the game's ending no less.
