2019
May
On May 4, Lunime annouced "Gacha Life 2", a sequel to Gacha Life. It was supposed to be a big update for Gacha Life, but it was scrapped due to fear of bugs and players not being able to play it.
August
On August 31, Lunime announced the game's name was changed to Gacha Club, also announcing a release date of early 2020. The "Gacha Life 2" name would eventually see use for a separate game in 2023.
2020
January
On January 1, Lunime posted a picture wishing everyone a Happy New Year, featuring some of the characters in their chibi forms.
June
Around June 5-7, Lunime revealed new "Clubs" which would soon become official presets in-game.
This page or section needs more images. There's a whole lotta words here, but not enough pictures. Please fix this. |
Early Screenshots
On official website of Gacha Club, there are 4 screenshot taken from pre-release of the game with noticeable UI differences which were probably changed when the game got full released to public.
Hide
Weirdly, in Pre-Release screenshot, main background for Gacha Club is not positioned correctly. In release, this has been fixed.
Pre-Release Hide feature | Current Hide feature |
---|---|
- Pre-Release Hide feature lacks "Display Outlines" and "Face Layer Order, Front Hair, Eyes, Rear hair",
- Ride has been replaced by Objects,
- Effects were in a different order,
- Pet were in a different order,
- Body Map #3 was replaced by Head Map,
- Chat was in a different order,
- Stand and "Save .PNG" buttons are not present in Pre-Release,
- Character icons differ between the versions.
Body
Body section went through some changes, though it was near finishing.
Pre-Release Body features 1 | Current Body features 1 |
---|---|
- Character's could've only choose 11 hand choices on Left and Right hands,
- There were only 10 shadows in Pre-Release while Current version has 20,
- Shadow character feature is not present in Pre-Release.
Pre-Release Body features 2 | Current Body features 2 |
---|---|
- Pose selection on Page 50 in Pre-Release re-uses Gacha Pose texture from previous game "Gacha Life",
- Word "Page 50/50" uses different font than in current version,
- Pose selection on Page 50 says it's Standing while in current version, it's Extra.
Profile
Profile section for Characters went through changes in UI, mostly in button postion(?).
Pre-Release Profile | Current Profile |
---|---|
- Luni's icon in Favorite Character appears to be incompleted and also zoomed in, the icon image also seems to be rotated slightly,
- Import and Export lack of their icons,
- "View Full Profile" in Pre-Release was named "View Character Profile",
- Pre-Release lacks of Additional Details,
- Pre-Release lacks of warning about not putting real life information in Character's profile.
Swap Characters
Swap Characters went through small UI changes.
Pre-Release Swap Characters | Current Swap Characters |
---|---|
- Instead of just names on characters, there was once planned to include head icons from characters that would've been detailed by players,
- Select button in current version was cut,
- Copy button in current version was replaced by Copy All,
- Copy Hair in Pre-Release version didn't existed yet,
- Pre-Release buttons didn't had their UI icons yet,
- There was once planned only 40 slots for characters, but in current version there's 90 which provided pages on Swap Characters,
- "Back-up" characters in Pre-Release version were called "Extra".
Differences
- Main menu in pre-release version uses an different Default Girl preset instead of the final version which indicates that somewhere in development, a different design was choosen before it was changed. However, the Default Boy preset in pre-release screenshot is not possible to see, meaning there's no atleast one screenshot of how it looked.
- Gacha section in pre-release looks finished, but in final version, "Power Strike x3" and "Fire ATK+" aren't presented in game which leads that they were cut lately.
- When Gacha Club was annouced firstly in 2019, the name was actually Gacha Life 2 but in early 2020, the name of game has been changed into Gacha Club. However in 2023, an actual Gacha Life 2 has been released.
