So very stubbly.
This page is rather stubbly and could use some expansion.

Footage from Crystal Dynamics' Sample This! demo disc and an attract reel from Star Control II.

Gregg Tavares' Website

Lead programmer Gregg Tavares posted about his time on the game in 1997, revealing lots of info:

  • The initial concept of the game was to have the player as a stuntman, and each level would score you depending on how good your stunts were. Each level was also based on a Hollywood movie genre.
  • Science fiction-styled levels were planned, but scrapped when the game was half complete due to time constraints.
  • Lead designer Justin Knoor apparently got mad after the staff edited one of his levels without his knowledge (according to Gregg, several of the mechanics were removed due to being too buggy). In response, he added back in the unedited level in the level select and told players at the end to contact Madeline Canepa. Knoor was fired soon after.
